Surprisingly good cheap products.

Posting for traffic.

I've recently got a few bits online that people have recommended for being cheap but really good for what they are. Latest purchases are a really good liquid eyeliner from Amazon for £0.64 and a baby bath seat that should be £20 but was £9.99 inc delivery!

So out of curiosity and wanting to get some stuff has anyone got any recommendations of surprisingly good products they've bought really cheaply?

Not asking for anything particular just anything that comes to mind.

@TrueBlue22 I agree, it's very nice.

SaigonSaigon · 07/04/2018 20:22

Morrison's own hand and nail cream for £1 is really good and always sold out in my local branch so others must think so too

Re cheapo Lego, Wilko Blox is worth a look and it is compatible with Lego.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 08/04/2018 00:12

The Dove fake tan is the best one ever and only £3 sometimes
The Superdrug vitamin E creams
The Waitrose pure range too

Also really like my La Roche Posay tinted moisturiser . It’s £16 but very very good and has got me off the Chanel and Armani foundations

Love this thread by the way! I’ve trekked to 3 Aldi’s near me in recent weeks trying to get make up and not one of them had any... they had some of the bath products mentioned but no make up at all. Where do you all live where you have the make up in yours?!

Treezabreeze · 08/04/2018 03:11

Used Nivea for years but switched to Astral, much better and lighter.

Lidl shower gels that are 33p are good actually. And the Lidl own washing tablets are really good, like someone said, smell like a leading brand.
And the 49p Lidl chocolate is nice too.
I wasn't a fan of the Lidl fake aussie shampoo, found it watery tbh and using more than I normally would have, but the smell is on par with the original brand.
Lidl £4 perfume is good too for daily use, smells nice.
Pull ups only £2 a bag, just as good as the night time Huggies pants but half the price and more in the bag.

@mogulfield they only have make every so often as it's in the isle of wonder. I only got one concealer last time I saw it which I regret. I'll be stocking up next time!

Wilko antiseptic (and floor) wipes 50p

LeSquigh · 08/04/2018 08:37

I am gobsmacked that anyone buys specific soap for make up brushes. £12 for a Mac bar of soap?! What is wrong with Fairy liquid? I use it all the time and it’s fine.

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/04/2018 08:56

It’s the power of marketing.

Petalflowers · 08/04/2018 09:02

I agree with Tesco own brand bubble bath. Good stuff.

Tesco washing -up liquid - much better than Aldi,, although not quite as good as Fairy

Morrison’s own-brand Shreddies - always on offer for 2 for £2, most other places are £1.10-£1.30 per box

Morrison’s cob loaf - huge round fresh white loaf of bread for 50p

Bridezilla2be · 08/04/2018 09:21

M&S Shock baked beans - 30p a can and taste like Heinz imo.

WeeM · 08/04/2018 09:30

The Mac brush cleaner is a bottle of alcohol type liquid and it does probably last between 6 months and a year. I’ve tried fairy on mine and it didn’t take my foundation off and just kind of clogged it up on the bristles.

We use the basic Lidl dishwasher tabs plus the salt and rinseaid. They are perfectly good - no different to using anything more expensive at all.

Plus if you shop in Lidl all the time they frequently have 'cleaning weeks' when all the cleaning stuff is on special offer or in bigger packs.

Dirtylookineejit · 08/04/2018 11:10

I use The Ordinary and finally at 39 have skin that isn’t either spotty or inflamed or dry don’t get put off by the names.(I used to dread the mirror every morning as would wait to see what had erupted overnight). Their website is a greater starter point as they recommend regimes for the areas you want to target. The plant derived squalene oil is €7 and cruelty free, suitable for vegans etc and is amazing. I use whatever left on hands and run through hair.
Aldi blonde conditioner and their fake Aussie spray in conditioner is brill and makes my mop look and feel lovely and soft and the spray has lasted forever. I only use the Aldi dishwasher tabs (don’t like Lidl ones). The Aldi Tea tree shampoo and conditioner great for kids and so far mine haven’t had dreaded nits (both ds have “long” hair for boys) and also hasn’t upset ds2 who has v sensitive skin and scalp. Aldi Oatie biscuits also nicer than hobnobs I’m informed.

fantasmasgoria1 · 08/04/2018 11:16

Aldi moisturisers, Aldi face wash any cheap face wipes. When my hair was longer Aldi hairspray didn’t hold it at all but bristows or insette hairspray from body care is great!

Frusso · 08/04/2018 12:10

@Mymouthgetsmeintrouble love the also q10 night cream too.

gummywitch · 08/04/2018 12:33

Another recommendation for Everything 5. Have bought so many gorgeous cardigans over the past 2 years, quality is fab, nothing comes close. Loads of great sandals and trainers, nice scarves (adore their winter wraps n ponchos, think have bought 4 now) Denim printed leggings great quality and wash well. Only downside is the postage coz they charge by weight. Think their stock is ex high street or imported, the sizing of dresses can be a bit hit and miss but then so is h and m.

Itsnotmesothere · 08/04/2018 12:41

I love Nivea Soft for my hands. It smells great and is quickly absorbed

tierraJ · 08/04/2018 14:38

I like Tesco eye makeup remover wipes £1 & baby wipes 64p.

Simple cleansing cream & Simple toner usually on offer for under £3 each

crimsonlake · 08/04/2018 15:00

I have started using almond oil that I picked up for £1 in Superdrug in a glass bottle. Has a multiple of uses and if you read up almond oil has loads of moisturising benefits. I also use their Vit E facial oil £2.99 which I use at night and during the day under E-45 which is what I use as a moisturiser. I use coconut oil, olive oil or almond oil as a body moisturiser, I tend to pour some in the bath along with a few drops of lavender oil 99p. A large jar of coconut oil bought from Aldi £2.99 and lasts ages. I have also been known to cover myself in it and go to bed with pj's of course. Also use quite a lot of good old vaseline.

LanaKanesTerfyVagina · 08/04/2018 15:03

Haven't got time to browse atm, but think I've seen recs for Lush clones???

And the lactic acid stuff sounds good....terrible acne scars.

Coming back in a bit!

QueenOfMyWorld · 08/04/2018 15:04

I've got this eyeliner and it's the best I've ever used

Surprisingly good cheap products.
maddiemookins16mum · 08/04/2018 15:14

High factor sun lotions from Avon. £4 and they have great reviews.

I've also started buying packets of cumin, coriander, chilli powder from the very small Indian section of our Tesco shop, the packs are bigger than I'd normally buy but compared to the little jars of branded spices they work out cheaper. The same goes for the Polish section, I've worked out what some of the things are (not that difficult in fairness) and it's cheaper.

My best find has been in ASDA,in the Halal section there are packs of fresh chicken at 3 packs for a tenner (and the drumsticks have the skin already removed which makes for a really quick bit of prep in the morning when I stick a pack in the slow cooker with chopped veg and a stock pot).

Icklepickle101 · 08/04/2018 15:17

Primary have just bought out a new foundation that is as good as my este Lauder Double Wear. It’s the one in the square glass bottle not the ‘insta girl’ one

Their sun cream is also 5 star sun protection and so much cheaper than lots of the well known brands which are often 3 or 4 star
