78 pensioner arrested for fatally stabbing burglar in his own home

SShaming · 04/04/2018 12:20

2 burglars break into a 78 year old man’s home armed with screwdriver.

Forces owner into the kitchen whilst one of them goes upstairs.

A fight ensues, leaving pensioner with injuries to his arm and burglary is fatally stabbed. Perhaps with his own screwdriver although this is TBC.

Police arrest pensioner.

On what planet is this right?

OK, how about

There is no way on gods green earth that any decent cop would have told you to carry a knife, because of the very real risk of it being used against you.

If they did say that then that cop is a fucking idiot.

Nicknacky · 04/04/2018 22:31

So you need to report that officer because that “advice” is outrageous

HopefullyAnonymous · 04/04/2018 22:32

Police officer here. Absolutely no way on earth here you advised to carry a knife; simply carrying one (even a legal knife) to use for protection makes it an offensive weapon.

Nicknacky · 04/04/2018 22:32

Of yeah, that’s a better way of phrasing it.

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 04/04/2018 22:36

I love how people always come up with "It never happened" when they don't agree with something. You can pretend to be Cressida Dick and make strong affirmations, it doesn't give any authority to your posts, sorry. It's a public forum with anyone who could be anyone on here.

TabbyMack · 04/04/2018 22:37

Ikeepaforkinmypurse

Were you there? Do you know the exact details of this crime? What is your evidence that this was self-defence? It might have been...it might not. How do you know that the burglar wasn’t stabbed in the back while trying to get away from the man? Answer...you don’t.

We don’t have capital punishment in this country..and if we did it wouldn’t be a sentence anyone would be happy imposing for burglary. And yet, it’s perfectly OK to kill someone for it provided you catch them in the act?

Put down your pitchfoks and think.

Nicknacky · 04/04/2018 22:37

You are totally right, anyone could say they are anything. Anyone could also say they were advised to carry a knife by a serving police officer.

Nicknacky · 04/04/2018 22:37

That was to ikeep

Nicknacky · 04/04/2018 22:39

Oh ikeep You haven’t said which one of my posts where out of synch with being a cop. Which ones have you found?

BertrandRussell · 04/04/2018 22:40

Well, he can plead self defence at his trial.

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 04/04/2018 22:40

How do you know that the burglar wasn’t stabbed in the back while trying to get away from the man?
He can't have been trying that hard if he was trespassing in the first place. you should think.

SaucyJane · 04/04/2018 22:42

Here are the occasions when it's not illegal to carry a knife. Technically someone could be advised to buy a knife within the permitted categories.

www.police.uk/crime-prevention-advice/possession-of-weapons/

But I must say I find it hard to believe that the police, who have to deal with the fallout, would advise it.

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 04/04/2018 22:42

Nicknacky sorry, I am not re-reading the thread, but I know that some of your earlier posts were at the opposite of what I hear from other cops I hear. They didn't quite match.

Or maybe I am confusing you with another poster, that's also possible, I am not keeping a spreadsheet.

stitchglitched · 04/04/2018 22:42

What trial? Has he been charged now then?

I see some blaming it on SOCIALISM on twitter and hoping Brexit will stop it ever happing again. Honestly that place is nuts.

Nicknacky · 04/04/2018 22:45

ikeep I can assure you I’m very well aware of my posting style and can guarantee there is nothing that I have posted that would be controversial. I have arrested people for self defence (not murder right enough) and I am well aware of the processes that have to be followed.

I have been consistent throughout that thorough investigation is rightly required.

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 04/04/2018 22:45

I think some people would be happy to see capital punishment for burglary if it involved violence.

without going that far, a lot more protection for the victims of burglar would be a good start. No one is an accidental burglar in real life, there's definitively a conscious decision of committing a crime there.

crazycatgal · 04/04/2018 22:45

I don't blame him for his actions. If someone breaks into your home you don't know what they are going to do to you or your family.

Nicknacky · 04/04/2018 22:45

What other cops are you talking about? We have all said the same thing.

SaucyJane · 04/04/2018 22:46

Well despite the fact that no names or pictures of the burglars appear to have been released, sinister, they MUST be foreigners allowed in by the evil EU, right??!

TabbyMack · 04/04/2018 22:48

He can't have been trying that hard if he was trespassing in the first place

What?

So you think the sentence for trespass should be death?

YellowFlower201 · 04/04/2018 22:49

Hes not been charged @stitchglitched

PyongyangKipperbang · 04/04/2018 22:49

Nicky

I think she means the ones in Gotham City, or the Sopranos or the Sweeney. Wherever it is, it aint in real life!

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 04/04/2018 22:50

What other cops are you talking about? We have all said the same thing.

is that addressed to me? BY other cops I meant real cops I see in real life -not posters who are cops on one thread, nurse and lecturer on the other, and Nobel Price winners on a third (that is not addressed to you, just speaking in general)
