The thread continues....if it hasn't continued elsewhere! @Lateforall it was me who questioned Lobella loves depression wears lippy campaign. I get that the idea is that being a bit glam might be a way of coping. And i have been guilty of putting my face on to carry on in the world. I get that not everyone with pnd is sat at home in pjs unshowered with greasy hair. But I just find the whole thing so false on her account - maybe that is because I know of her in real life.

But I think so many of them have massivley over exaggerated aspects of their lives because it sells. Whether that is FODs clumsy parenting or whatever. But it really doesnt sit well

£20k is retail though. I'm not sure what mark up travel agencies have, but sending MOD to St Lucia at cost is still probably cheaper than booking print media advertising. It's probably more closely targeted advertising, too.

DMBL40 did a much better job of selling a Destinology holiday last year - though I can't remember where it was to! Somewhere hot and tropical.

Delatron · 01/04/2018 15:07

I follow people from my industry (fitness related) to see how they run their studios, what classes they offer etc.

I follow fashion bloggers for inspiration, I don't have time to trawl round the shops so like it when they do. I understand they are promoted to link to some stuff but if I don't like it I don't buy it. I did get sucked in to buying some expensive and very uncomfortable espadrilles last year after numerous bloggers said how comfy they were so I'm more careful now.

I also follows interior bloggers for inspiration and finds.

Areyouinthegame · 01/04/2018 15:07

But I'm sure the holiday fixed her sisters broken heart Wink

Fruitbowl2 · 01/04/2018 15:13

Good point daisy, I think I would look at these people for a mix of looking at their decor and clothes. I didn't generally watch stories so I have no idea what they were up to during the day. Some of it was also a bit of nosiness about the insta clique and how they interacted.

Fruitbowl2 · 01/04/2018 15:16

Also I don't think their lives look enviable. They look like they all work pretty hard - writing books, popping on tv, podcasts, tedious PR lunches. I know that's some people's dream though.

Mumofkids · 01/04/2018 15:23

@fruitbowl2 it is hard to imagine who'd be jealous of the overall lifestyle. Most of the book writers must have very good editors!

HolyMountain · 01/04/2018 15:31

DMBL40 went to Mauritius with Destinology and madd a far better fist of promoting it than MoD has in St Lucia.

Iirc it was Kat’s holiday there (which she didn’t initially declare as a gift) that caused a lot of annoyance when she did reveal (eventually) it wasn’t paid for by her.

CadyHeron · 01/04/2018 15:36

Daisythedaffodil I think that angle is interesting too,and from what I've seen from the threads the mum bloggers get a lot of adults following them, watching them, and think they have to live up to the ideal life. Some even said as much on there.
So much the same from the adult instas as the teen ones too. People feel they have to live up to it, they get a warped sense of reality, if you like.

Just taken the time to read the quite excellent Mother Pukka thread on Instagram (the tile with her and the baby and the microphone). So very well written........ and so maddening that, just as she is talking about the changes that #ad is bringing to Instagram and the need to talk, many of the replies are all #haters gonna hate and have completely missed the point. Some very kindly words to MoD, which hopefully she will take on board. Chapeau (as we say in my part of France) @Badmotherpukka

TheChocolateTeapot · 01/04/2018 16:00

Et voila, @CadyHeron and so we come full circle and agree! As a mother or teenage dc I am aware of the warped sense of reality that IG gives them. I don't much like it but I do need to stay here and be aware of it.

MadameGrizzly · 01/04/2018 16:25

Yes, you are right, HolyMoutain. Mauritius and Destinology controversy. To be honest, I think it should have been tagged #ad. Destinology had control of the content (because Kat was never going to post a bad review) and DMBL40 received a discount.

Kat did a great job of advertising that holiday; the food, pool, kid’s activities all looked fantastic.

MoD could learn a lot from Kat.

Fruitbowl2 · 01/04/2018 17:24

Who is Kat?

PavlovaPrincess · 01/04/2018 17:28

Kat Farmer is DoesMyBumLook40

Fruitbowl2 · 01/04/2018 17:33

Thanks Pavlova have they all got a cockapoo?

PavlovaPrincess · 01/04/2018 17:33

@HolyMountain yep agree. I really like her, her account is great.

But I agree with @MadameGrizzly that any 'gift' or 'discount' you've been given should be marked as an ad.

Although, you can't argue with how upfront she was in that pic. Not sure how long ago that holiday was either, but after coming onto the S&B thread recently (and listening and taking stuff onboard) she's another who has changed how she puts things on her account.

PavlovaPrincess · 01/04/2018 17:35

@Fruitbowl2 🤣 yeah, it needs to be added onto jamons instamama list.

HolyMountain · 01/04/2018 17:40

It was October half term last year she went and at that point nothing was disclosed in her captions.

Fruitbowl2 · 01/04/2018 18:04

Had a look at Kay's destinogy hol, the same swimwear that MOD is wearing is tagged. They also miraculously turned up in comments when StyleMe was grifting for 'small brand' holiday wear.

Fruitbowl2 · 01/04/2018 18:05

Soz Kat's Destinology....

NewBallsPlease00 · 01/04/2018 19:29

Bed steps won't gift at this time of year, it's full anyway and won't need influencers doing more- in fact whejbitsvsuper rammed now would be the worst tile for them to review it!

TheChocolateTeapot · 01/04/2018 19:56

....... funnily enough, MoD has just started replying to some of the comments on her latest thread. Now there's a thing.

PavlovaPrincess · 01/04/2018 20:06

@NewBallsPlease00 I agree it's maybe not an ad, but we don't know for sure because DLAM doesn't tag her posts or stories.

and won't need influencers doing more- in fact whejbitsvsuper rammed now would be the worst tile for them to review it

If they're getting a freebie, then they won't be reviewing it as such. They'll just show their followers what's on offer and tell them what a great time they're having.

Besides, DLAM did a story about some kind of spa treatment when there was no-one about. I'm not sure why she's going into quite so much detail about what's going off there unless she's on a blag for the next holiday or she is actually getting it for nothing.

IsThisAWindUp · 01/04/2018 20:18

How do you know the hotel is full? Why would the hotel comment so quickly and so gushingly if it wasn’t an ad? I would ask for clarification but she wouldn’t answer anyway.

Fruitbowl2 · 01/04/2018 20:19

Pavolva MOFOD did exactly the same detailed thing about that spa when they visited in the summer with kids in the kids' club. They probably get a perk.
