The thread continues....if it hasn't continued elsewhere! @Lateforall it was me who questioned Lobella loves depression wears lippy campaign. I get that the idea is that being a bit glam might be a way of coping. And i have been guilty of putting my face on to carry on in the world. I get that not everyone with pnd is sat at home in pjs unshowered with greasy hair. But I just find the whole thing so false on her account - maybe that is because I know of her in real life.

But I think so many of them have massivley over exaggerated aspects of their lives because it sells. Whether that is FODs clumsy parenting or whatever. But it really doesnt sit well

Lisa Dawson on stories looks absolutely nothing like the Lisa Dawson on her pic! She's allowed her opinion as is anyone else. I've never heard of her and unlike some she is saying it's a full time job and everything is free. I would not click follow based on what I saw.

BeansandSausages · 04/04/2018 11:32

@mumofkids you're not wrong, they seem like a really nice couple who do loads. She has certainly got a lot of freebies in the past but no holidays I think! I would need one too!

Lisa , oh dear. MP has proven you can address this without being like that.

HolyMountain · 04/04/2018 11:35

I’ve unfollowed her after that rant.

What a pile of bollocks she’d spouting, she hasn’t read the threads in full and has no idea how pissed off people are becoming with the sheer greed.

She also has not taken into account us mumsnetters are —were— followers on IG.

She’s just another well off middle class women who loves all the free stuff.

nipersvest · 04/04/2018 11:35

from Lisa's point number 3, the ASA set up guidelines for us to follow. We follow them

errr, no not always! and that is the main reason for these threads.

Mumofkids · 04/04/2018 11:37

@beansandsausages I've only followed for a short while so I only have the travels to go on!

That Lisa Dawson is the Gillian mckeith of interiors isn't she?

yesihavenamechange · 04/04/2018 11:44

I'm not vicious or a troll. I don't like sneaky advertising. Maybe that qualifies me to be a troll? I also don't think that instagram influencing is a real job

Doctorbubbles · 04/04/2018 11:49

It's all too easy to for them to just label any questioning as troll-like behaviour. I love these threads and the fact they are continuing - may we forever be a thorn in the sides of those who do not follow the rules of advertising!

Doctorbubbles · 04/04/2018 11:50

I wonder if @Cady is Lisa?!?

Booie09 · 04/04/2018 11:50

If being a instamum is a real Job do they have to declare everything they recive?

nipersvest · 04/04/2018 11:50

@Stopyourhavering64 I get your sentiment from most of your post, but the chemo reference may be getting a bit too personal. Don't spoil the debate.

loolalion · 04/04/2018 11:51

Their listening. This is off hannah gales instagram (not technically an instamum as she was a fashion blogger but has a baby now...). She has always seemed to be pretty good ad disclosing though so maybe I'm just noticing more. Also have noticed on others the ad hashtag in capitals and very obvious :) for all the negativity I think these threads are actually going to do alot more good than harm.

It does seem to me, that social influencers on the whole take themselves very seriously, see themselves as doing a very important job and are pillars of society and the community.
In general they are just middle class reality stars often flogging their families.

Chimchar · 04/04/2018 11:52

I've been on a big unfollow spree this morning.
It's becoming a bit 'them and us' now, which doesn't make for comfortable viewing for me!

I've learned so much from these threads, and I'm now more educated to advise my teens, (WITH PROOF! )that all isn't always as it seems on IG. Grin

Stopyourhavering64 · 04/04/2018 11:58

nipers.... it really wasn't meant as a personal attack, merely stating a fact....and if she's claiming to be an influencer with 1000's of followers, she is potentially giving false hope to any of her followers with similar problems...at the end of the day she is not in the medical profession is she?
That's the problem with some of these influencers, some people will follow them and may rightly or wrongly hang on to their every word

Mumofkids · 04/04/2018 11:58

I followed the fmlystore thinking it was f* my life store and always wondered what the y was for. Bit disappointed to discover it's family.

Doctorbubbles · 04/04/2018 11:58

i agree about the 'us v 'them' feeling and it is slightly uncomfortable. However, on reflection, i believe it is 'them' that has caused this. If they could just realise that these threads in the main are not vicious or vindictive or from a place of jealousy but rather normal people just asking other people to please be honest, in accordance with the law, with their followers. If 'they' would have just stepped back, reflected, checked the ASA guidelines, I'm sure these threads wouldn't have lasted as long as they have. Instead, because it may not help with the image they are selling, they decide to neglect the guidelines, not be transparent, and instead label all those questioning their posts as trolls etc

Chimchar · 04/04/2018 12:05

I agree @Doctorbubbles
I have been on a few times as one of those voices saying that IG has made me feel a bit shit, a bit inferior, and not cool enough to be part of the gang.

I thought they were my issues, but I'm clearly not alone. Now I can add 'duped' to my list! Wink

Regardless of anything else, like I said in my last post, I have been educated, and that's a really good thing. Hopefully others will take that from these threads too. Smile

CadyHeron · 04/04/2018 12:14

Blanked out the name of me? Literally making stuff up now.

Doctorbubbles · 04/04/2018 12:14

@Chimchar I too have been educated! I honestly feel that is these discussions were taking place on IG more would be educated and then these influencers wouldn't be able to hide behind people's ignorance (don't mean that in a nasty way - I too was ignorant before reading these threads)

Doctorbubbles · 04/04/2018 12:15

@Cady - check her stories and you will see for yourself

Chimchar · 04/04/2018 12:19

@Doctorbubbles ignorance in part, but also misplaced 'trust' I think.

Doctorbubbles · 04/04/2018 12:20

@cady - just checked and she has deleted the relevant stories - how convenient!

Doctorbubbles · 04/04/2018 12:21

@Chimchar- absolutely!
