The thread continues....if it hasn't continued elsewhere! @Lateforall it was me who questioned Lobella loves depression wears lippy campaign. I get that the idea is that being a bit glam might be a way of coping. And i have been guilty of putting my face on to carry on in the world. I get that not everyone with pnd is sat at home in pjs unshowered with greasy hair. But I just find the whole thing so false on her account - maybe that is because I know of her in real life.

But I think so many of them have massivley over exaggerated aspects of their lives because it sells. Whether that is FODs clumsy parenting or whatever. But it really doesnt sit well

Certainlychoco, I've already said I have only been on the last couple. So not sure where the idea I've been on 4 or more is coming from.

CadyHeron · 02/04/2018 15:54

Mumofkids, yeah, that is a bit TMI lol. Although people out there like following that kind of thing. Can't say it's for me, people trying to poo would definitely make me think fine line, overshare!

nipersvest · 02/04/2018 16:00

perhaps it was an ad for bog roll? or lactulose? or sponsored by toilet duck?

nipersvest · 02/04/2018 16:44

Knew I'd seen something else online about this, from The Guardian, link below

In the UK they are legally obliged to identify when such advertisements have been agreed by putting hashtag “#ad” with the post. Anyone not doing so is in breach of consumer protection legislation

www.theguardian.com/media/2017/oct/05/social-media-stars-breaching-rules-on-promoting-brands-watchdog-says-instagram-twitter

For the instamums still not sure, legally obliged means there is a law or rule in place and its something you have to do. And consumer protection legislation, means that misleading and aggressive sales tactics are banned.

If anyone looking for a good IG account, I'd recommend the Bucketlist family....travel bloggers from USA....
Have been to some amazing places with their ( now 3) kids and stayed in some fantastic places....not trying to sell anything, but true travel/ adventure vloggers ( ok so he is a tech guy who sold his app for millions, but I do like their style of travel journalism)

jamoncrumpets · 02/04/2018 17:06

Had a peek at DLAM again. This is CLEARLY an ad for her (overpriced IMO) shoe collab. Where's the tag DLAM?

It would be more of a challenge to find a post which wasn’t an ad in some way. I gave up trying.

PavlovaPrincess · 02/04/2018 17:15

Actually, DLAM does mark some stuff as an ad. I though she didn't but she's done Knorr and Ariel ads. She's got the paid partnership geotag on a couple of things but her #ad is the middle of the the other hashtags.

I reckon all her other stuff must have been 'gifted' which is why she feels like doesn't have to tag. The show post above should definitely be tagged as an ad though.

Mumofkids · 02/04/2018 17:17

I just want to say, I've been buying Knorr stock pots (on sale) for ages and it's nothing to do with all their ads 😬

PavlovaPrincess · 02/04/2018 17:24

It's ok, we aren't going to come and check your cupboards Wink

I wouldn't say either Knorr or Ariel go with DLAM's 'brand' though. I'd say most of her followers agree as her Ariel ad got a paltry 186 likes.

Mumofkids · 02/04/2018 17:26

@pavlovaprincess
🤣

jamoncrumpets · 02/04/2018 17:27

This is EXACTLY what Sheikhbeauty got in trouble for in that Guardian article. Have reported to ASA.

I also suspect DLAM has a deal with Mercedes, although it doesn't seem to come with cameras installed like a Renault would...

Mumofkids · 02/04/2018 17:29

@pavlovaprincess argh that kind of just posted itself. I'd have thought the Ariel could be more of a fit (due to colour vibrancy) than knorr!! But maybe on some accounts people just don't have time for this stuff. I follow her but I'm not invested in her account. I like the brights and the pregnancy style, she's also very attractive. But the faux fur jackets are £250 minimum and it all seems a bit out of reach.

IsThisAWindUp · 02/04/2018 17:34

I would be surprised if the topshop deal wasn’t paid for in some way. A quick look at her blog and a topshop post says it is sponsored (right at the end of the post of course) so I don’t think it’s just gifted clothes - she has to pay for the photographer, surely she doesn’t bung them a pair of dungarees 🤣. I think it depends on what the brand stipulates. Knorr and Ariel obviously wanted to use the paid partnership geotag. It should all be clear on Instagram and it’s not.

PavlovaPrincess · 02/04/2018 17:39

Oh yes, the photographer. I can't imagine that's cheap.

I'd just buy myself a tripod and do my own pics.

Areyouinthegame · 02/04/2018 17:41

Well spotted @jamoncrumpets the beauty bloggers are real bad at disclosure. I blame brands like Jo Malone and Charlotte Tilbury. They know giving "gifts" to bloggers will equal a feature. Yet hide behind the #thanksforsending.... Tag. They need to be called out on this.

Areyouinthegame · 02/04/2018 17:48

Why does dlam have a blue tick? What does she do? Also those hill and friend bags look like something I'd buy for tweens or my 5 year old from accessorize.

HolyMountain · 02/04/2018 17:52

Blue tick means verified by Instagram.

Mumofkids · 02/04/2018 17:53

Just to clarify, are those posts from DLAM actually breaking rules? Or are they just posts people think are a bit off?

PavlovaPrincess · 02/04/2018 17:54

@Areyouinthegame I don't get the blue tick thing either Confused

It started off as a way to verify that it was actually a celeb's account rather than an imposter, but now apparently anyone can get one. Who the hell would set an account up pretending to be DLAM? Hmm

Mumofkids · 02/04/2018 17:55

Martha now has a large #ad on stories but that will disappear.

Areyouinthegame · 02/04/2018 18:09

Oh gawd she's really going overboard. She ads anything!

Areyouinthegame · 02/04/2018 18:11

She sounds so enthusiastic about it too.....

LaPampa · 02/04/2018 18:22

@Jamon that’s an ineresting question. If it is her own collaboration does it need tagging ad? I suspect she would say that because she’s not working with a brand on it because it is her product that it is not a paid for or gifted ad.
