To be furious about these ‘hot cross buns’

I’m watching what I eat at the moment and managed to resist all the Easter eggs at the supermarket, however I picked up a pack of four hot cross buns resolving to make them my one and only Easter treat. Imagine my fury and disgust to find that they are in fact chocolate chip and salted caramel hot cross buns! - I like chocolate, I like genuine salted caramel and I like hot cross buns. The combination of all those things, especially with the ‘salted caramel’ clearly being a horrible synthetic flavouring, is so disgusting that I’ve had to throw them all away. Except for the one that I ate to be completely sure that it was definitely disgusting.

But I discovered this morning that the M&S orange marmalade HCBs are really, really nice and I feel they deserve a mention on this thread.

Yabu. They are delicious and I could quite happily munch my way through a pack of 4, toasted and laden in butter, making little cooing noises of joy.

Well, I can't speak to these specific ones, and I'm not sure about the salted caramel element, but I have very fond memories of some chocolate hot cross buns from Waitrose a few years ago. Haven't had or seen them since then, actually. Might go and look for some. I do like a classic one as well though.

YADBU OP haven't you heard that we have to taste a new food at least x 6 to be able to decide if we like it or not , come on now, this is elemental food knowledge tut tut. You should have bought 2 packs to eat 6 before you could even cast an opinion on them........

I like hot cross buns - proper ones, and have tried many, many varieties. Waitrose are the best - and not just by a little bit...

Hmmm...wasn't overly keen on the M&S choc & sc ones tbf...the Bramley Apple however were lovely! Co-op do a nice cranberry brioche version too...yet to get some from Waitrose but that might be on my list for later today. So many HCB flavours...so little time....sighhh.....

I'm sure Waitrose hot cross buns are far nicer but we don't appear to have Waitrose at all in the North West of England or if we do they are are very rare

Half my buns have crosses-the other half don't. I call them @ Hedging Your Bets Buns".

Am another who recommend WR hot cross buns, their packs of 9 mini ones are just gorgeous, loads of fruit in them ...yummy.

I can't stand HCBs but I do like the chocolate and SC ones so now I feel I am included in the spirit of Easter.

I'd forgive the chocolate chips but not the salted caramel. Bleugh.
