Following on from Instamums 3.2

OP posts:

I've had the blue up a few years now but I still love it. I've tried getting F&B colour matched a couple of times, it never comes out quite right. I suppose if you don't usually use F&B you wouldn't notice.

Am I right in thinking these Instamum threads are just a place for mumsnetters to complain about any instamums (or dads) they dislike? I've asked numerous times what should be being discussed (having been accused of derailing).

Mumofkids · 31/03/2018 17:28

Surely anything Sofia.
I love knitted bonnets and ditsy floral clothes. On small children obviously. VictoriaRoperCurzon has a lovely account.

MarshaBradyo · 31/03/2018 17:30

I think we’ve done all the issues to death so it’s just a bit of mucking around about the cliches
Whatever you like

Most definitely seems that way. People seem to be happy now they're talking about paint and how they like to follow all the instagram stuff.
I suspect that's what it really is, as nobody really gives an answer, do they?
A place to fawn, and fangirl and pull down those they think are "doing it wrong" or boring.
Just been for a read on a jet set one mentioned earlier on in the thread, and seems like some really, really have a problem with people getting gifted stuff even though it really is completely highlighted.
I think that's what it comes down to.
Some charmer has even created an account just to have a go and accuse them of selling out/slag off on there.
Wonder if it's anyone on here seeing as the name cropped up recently?

CadyHeron · 31/03/2018 17:33

Used the word really far too much in that post lol Grin

MarshaBradyo · 31/03/2018 17:34

I thought we’d moved on from clogging up the thread in bold quotes it really slows it down

One good thing about IG is how fast it is someone linked a blog the other day and I thought god no to clicking through to read long bits of writing no way
Blogs are out

CadyHeron · 31/03/2018 17:36

Bolding stuff is how you quote and reply to something on here.Blame mumsnet for not having a quote function if it annoys you that much.

mrscampbellblackreturns · 31/03/2018 17:37

Agree Marsha I never look at blogs anymore.

I know she isn't an instamum but buynowbloglater is great on insta - her stories when she travels are v funny.

MarshaBradyo · 31/03/2018 17:37

You can just say the name

But really all the arguing over defending insta mums is done isn’t it

Otherwise I’ll leave you to it and come back when it’s frivolous again

PavlovaPrincess · 31/03/2018 17:38

@MarshaBradyo I don't mind reading a lot of text so long as someone has a point to make or they aren't just constantly repeating themselves Wink

I know what you mean though. I like a good, interesting, maybe funny caption but no need to use 6 words when you can use 1 (like a certain instaparent I can think of).

MarshaBradyo · 31/03/2018 17:39

It’s funny how things can look old and how lazy we are ( well I am)

I love some of the stuff on insta I even like the ads I get - mostly fashion which dh scoffs at

wineusuallyhelps · 31/03/2018 17:45

[I'm already running away]...

I think Method rhubarb surface cleaner is flippin' lush...

If I could justify £50 on a sweatshirt, I would buy the "Winging It" one. In navy. Not that I've ever looked at the site, of course Blush...

And I have bought 3 pairs of boots that I saw on DLAM and another account...

Oh god, I've been influenced, haven't I?! ConfusedGrin

Reallycantbebothered · 31/03/2018 17:45

20 yrs ago I was painting my dining room with Farrow and Ball and wearing Boden As were my dcs maybe I should have been an instamum #aheadofmytime
Just shows how fashions change/ go full circle
By the time these instamums are middle aged , they'll be complaining about how there's some new social media which is being used to tout things we never knew we needed

Sofialemon · 31/03/2018 17:47

@CadyHeron I still think the thread will descend into slating certain instamums eventually. I can't be arsed to point out how ridiculous some of what is said on here is.

I think they're hoping if they mostly ignore us and post about frivolous shit we'll get bored and not post.

LyndaSnellsFeet · 31/03/2018 17:49

Surely we're allowed to slate individual insta mums though?

PavlovaPrincess · 31/03/2018 17:49

@wineusuallyhelps I bought those topshop/Gucci tip off boots that were all over IG last year basically because they were all over IG and I kept seeing them.

Never in a million years would I have even given them a second glance if I'd just seen them in a shop.

PavlovaPrincess · 31/03/2018 17:50

*rip offs not tip offs Confused

laurahill88 · 31/03/2018 17:54

@lyndasnellsfeet but what purpose would that bring other than upsetting the instagrammer mentioned, no doubt starting an argument on here and having the thread (which up until now has been one of the more sensible/less personal bitchy out of the 4) deleted along with all the actually valid comments. If you really don’t like someone that much then unfollow and don’t hold resentment. They aren’t forcing you to follow them.

CadyHeron · 31/03/2018 17:58

I think they're hoping if they mostly ignore us and post about frivolous shit we'll get bored and not post.

Yep Grin there's nothing wrong with the frivolous shit, at least owning that they love instagrammers really.

LyndaSnellsFeet · 31/03/2018 18:02

laura I think if you're putting yourself out in the public domain then you can't expect people not to criticise you.

Much like if I say I find Tess Daly irritating, for example.

Mumofkids · 31/03/2018 18:04

Full circle back to the old just unfollow comment. So dull.

I quite enjoy a bit of judgydog here and there and do have a soft spot for mutha.hood as there's worse things than 'strong girls' I generally unfollow people who post about wine or gin o clock as it's dull. Cigarettesandcalpol I think is pretty on it. Lots of accounts with lovely photos too.

Mumofkids · 31/03/2018 18:05

Personally I don't care if someone wants to have a moan, most instagrammers moan quite a bit!

laurahill88 · 31/03/2018 18:06

@lyndasnellsfeet that’s true but for a thread which has gone this far without turning into a compete personal attacking spree (other than towards MO/FOD, although the points raised were still within keeping of the original concerns and topic) it would be a shame for people to go back to the using ‘mumsnet being bitches’ excuse rather than not having that to hide under as they are genuine, valid concerns thus far. As soon as you start waving round the ‘so and so is vile’ it just loses all credability

CadyHeron · 31/03/2018 18:07

Full circle back to the old just unfollow comment. So dull

OK, who has actually just said that? You're making shit up now.
