Is this an ad MOD. Were these gifted?

(Googled after reading pp- IG still firmly deleted).

I think as has been mentioned on the other Instamums thread, all Instamums have a huge whack of money behind them in the first place to enable them to have the perfectly decorated grey and cream home, and to do shopping hauls and be a SAHM.

There is no way on earth that the Meldrums would survive solely on their Youtube and Instagram earnings; they have a good following but haven't got that many followers in comparison to other Youtubers.

They either have investments or other businesses that they don't mention, or there is family money, and having seen the house of Mrs Meldrums' parents in her youtube videos I would not be surprised if the latter is the case.

Fruitbowl2 · 27/03/2018 18:21

Is this part of your 8 posts for the travel company who paid for your holiday MOD? If so, where is the #ad?

Mumofkids · 27/03/2018 18:29

I am still utterly baffled by MOD's comment on MP's post. From the sweetie 'darling' to the completely missing the point of the post. Is she just completely unaware of what they are doing or is it very calculated? Utterly baffling.

Fruitbowl2 · 27/03/2018 18:32

Great comments under MOD's response to Mother Pukka's latest post. Articulate and reasonable. And MOD can't delete them. 👏🏻👏🏻

WipsGlitter · 27/03/2018 18:35

I think what the Frugality is doing is fine. It was clear it was an ad. Anelli Bush back from her hols has been sent lots of stuff, tags the sender with a thank you. Is that ok?

Fruitbowl2 · 27/03/2018 18:36

Well done Emilykhbland.

I have to say, one of the things that bugs me most is #gifted. I've read it more than once that it was a code decided amongst bloggers/Instagrammers, and so they delineate between things that are #gifted and #ads.

Because for me, as a mere pleb on Instagram, I don't give a shit whether you were paid in money or in free stuff. An advert is an advert is an advert. So I really resent this idea that it's OK to use #gifted because you decided amongst yourselves that #gifted is acceptable.

Also, that fact that people are so keen to use #gifted instead of #ad suggests that, deep down, you're embarrassed for having sold out.

As for Paid Partnership, I've genuinely no idea what that means.

faceandpalm · 27/03/2018 18:41

@Fruitbowl2 It’s so good to see and very interesting. I’ve come to realise that she only allows praise on her own posts because there are plenty who disagree with her on MP’s post, me included. I’m starting to think she doesn’t understand the issue!? MP is so refreshing. Let’s have a conversation without labelling either side.

blackmirror1 · 27/03/2018 18:41

I really like poppywiwt

Have a look at her stories today.

She also wrote this, still relevant poppyd.com/high-luxe-blogger-lifestyles-and-non-disclosure/

That Poppy article is spot on!

Mrscog · 27/03/2018 18:49

Wispsglitter - no either she should tag it with #gifted or better - #sponsored.

#ad is for pre agreed content.

Fruitbowl2 · 27/03/2018 18:50

Yep HeyRoly the ASA say paid, perk or gifted should be marked #ad.

I have to comply with regulations for my paid job, so should they. It's not complicated is it!

Mumofkids · 27/03/2018 18:57

How many people disagree with MOD's comment! I'm scared to like any comments as she'll block us all.

Fruitbowl2 · 27/03/2018 18:58

Mrscog I'm sorry I'm reading the ASA website and there's no mention of #gifted or #sponsored. Am I missing something?

So good to see mumofkids. Own goal for MOD there. Maybe she'll listen. Fair dues to motherpukka for bringing the conversation onto IG.

JessicaPeach · 27/03/2018 19:03

Is poppywiwt the one who fairly recently had twins? I unfollowed her for repeatedly going on about fed is best. I didn’t get the impression that she did a lot of disclosing, if it’s the same person I’m surprised she is the author of the article!

HeyRoly · 27/03/2018 19:07

I'm glad the ASA agree with me, Fruitbowl2

The Unmumsy Mum made a big deal of saying "#GIFTED not #AD" when plugging some baby clothes recently, and it really hacked me off. Just have the spine to call an advert an advert, please.

I lost heaps of respect for her when she complained about having made a decision not to do adverts, and how sad she was that she therefore couldn't blag free stuff. Cue the followers saying "Do adverts! Everyone needs to provide for their families, hun!" and that was that.

Fruitbowl2 · 27/03/2018 19:12

Heyroly it's really odd that all the instas with a big following doing paid stuff haven't been written to by the ASA, or erm checked for themselves!

samatamfabahaba · 27/03/2018 19:15

I've become SO sceptical!!!

Another issue around child safety is the subject of additional needs. What if an instafamous tot is diagnosed as having, let's say, ASD? What if one of the older kids develops mental health issues? Do they carry on with them? Leave them out?

My DS has ASD and I just wouldn't feel comfortable with using him to flog stuff. I do have an Instagram account and post about our lives, but it's protected and I am careful about accepting followers.

Mumofkids · 27/03/2018 19:19

They really could just pick and choose carefully. At the end of the day, unmumsy is sat in her house, 3 kids no bath. Whilst watching those that have sold their kids raking in the money, freebies and new houses and free cars.... must be a bit hard to swallow when you've tried to say true. The accounts where people openly admit everything I've no problem with, shitty parenting and hidden ads are awful. Nearly 8 what's going to be the prime time offering today I wonder. A freezing child, a dangerous unsupervised climb?

Mumofkids · 27/03/2018 19:20

Shesakeeper I have 3 with ASD I know exactly where you are coming from.

HeyRoly · 27/03/2018 19:27

I see Unmumsy gets given an awful lot of slack because her house has no bath. That's the second time someone's defended her in that way Grin

I don't blame her for changing her principles, tbh. I DO resent her still being so embarrassed to do #ads she doesn't tag them honestly. Oh you were given the massively expensive Multimac seat? And baby clothes? And and and? You need to tag that shit every time.
