There are now 6 likes on the question to MOd about whether her products are gifted. Hurrah brave likers!

ImTheMary · 27/03/2018 22:28

I have just caught up on the MotherPukka post.

Damn, I have always liked her and her Flex campaign but I have SO much respect for her after that post. She's obviously a very savvy, intelligent and focused individual.

Must be incredibly frustrating to write a post like that and still be met with lots of "Totally agree hun! You do you and haterz gonna hate" - just goes to show how meaningless "engagement" can be.

shesakeeper · 27/03/2018 22:29

I think MoD takes a lot of flack because of the amount of free holidays she's had in the last 12 months. It borders on ridiculous tbh. She's had at least four luxury holidays in the last year. It would take an average family years to save for just one. She needs to learn to say no.

ImTheMary · 27/03/2018 22:30

I'm off to like the post. I reluctantly unfollowed MOD recently anyway so she can block away.

IsThisAWindUp · 27/03/2018 22:40

I disagree Festivecheese, MOD came onto the bloggers and brands thread and there was a really constructive discussion and various points were aired and sorted out and everyone was happy. DMBL40 has done the same. DMBL40 rarely features on these discussions now because she is absolutely clear now on gifted items and paid partnerships, and she also deals in a rational manner if there is any debate about other aspects of her feed - eg brands she may feature etc. There is no lack of clarity and she is consistent and doesn't seem to attract any discussion any more, because there is nothing to discuss really.

MOD on the other hand has continued to get flak because she doesn't do this. She discloses paid partnerships but takes a different approach to discounted or free holidays. She has obviously decided not to bother disclosing gifts (or has she? We don't know.) Judging by FOD's story this evening he thinks the disclosure of gifts is all a big joke so should we assume she thinks the same? It's not the coming on here that has contributed, but the fact that I'm not sure people have the same level of trust that she is being transparent and consistent that they do with other bloggers.

Fruitbowl2 · 27/03/2018 22:47

festivecheese MOD's snide comments on stories, blocking every critical or even questioning comment, and passive aggressive book quote posts that have been the problem in my view. It's a matter of the difference in the character MOD has displayed in comparison to MP's, rather than media training. MOD has an agent, a book agent and is a grown woman with friends and family to consult if she needs advice. It's 'her bad' I'm afraid.

PavlovaPrincess · 27/03/2018 22:48

Agree @IsThisAWindUp

MOD was on another thread and I asked her why she didn't have the 'paid promotion' tag on her recent night away with FOD and because she wasn't paid money to do it she felt she didn't need to have one on her post. I think there was one pic with #ad in the comments and nothing on her stories about it.

FOD is worse imo. His post about the night out didn't have any #ad on at all until later then he must have have edited it and buried it in the middle of numerous other hashtags (which I've a feeling he does quite often).

These are people who've stated several times that they've got a 'legal team' or they've 'sought legal advice' about one thing or another. So they're either being told the wrong information or ignoring all it altogether.

PavlovaPrincess · 27/03/2018 22:49

Also agree about DMBL40 who has taken it all on board and changed her approach.

mammyoftwo · 27/03/2018 22:51

I can see MOD on This Morning with Phillip and Holly within a week of returning home from hols.

All publicity is good publicity and all that!

PavlovaPrincess · 27/03/2018 22:55

I would be really interested in any stats from these brand partnerships that show whether sales increased after being featured by the bloggers (especially the holiday companies).

I doubt we'll ever find out though.

IsThisAWindUp · 27/03/2018 22:57

To be fair though, there have been a LOT of very personal comments made about both the ODs. Obviously DMBL40 didn't have to contend with comments about her husband (but he never features on Insta, sensibly). It must be extremely hard to bite your tongue when you feel you are facing a constant barrage of abuse, so in her shoes I probably would lash out now and then as well tbh. Especially after one too many Pina coladas.

Fruitbowl2 · 27/03/2018 22:59

Nah mammyoftwo it'll be motherpukka on telly. She's nailed this thing 👌🏻

Fruitbowl2 · 27/03/2018 23:01

I'm a lawyer Pavolova I would be weeping in MOFOD were my clients.

IsThisAWindUp · 27/03/2018 23:02

I doubt whether they even know, Pavlova. The social media strategy for M&S doesn't look like it is working too well though despite seemingly every blogger having a monthly paid partnership with them Hmm.

Fruitbowl2 · 27/03/2018 23:02

(Luckily I don't type at work) 😳

heldazz · 27/03/2018 23:04

I find it a bit bizarre when very small accounts do #ads because who is actually seeing them? I never understand how that happens.

Stellastartsitall · 27/03/2018 23:16

I noticed God trying to be clever with the "gifted" tag. Hmm just goes to show what they think of their audience.

Stellastartsitall · 27/03/2018 23:17

Sorry fod, blooming auto correct

Fruitbowl2 · 27/03/2018 23:26

11 likes now on the q to MOD about whether items in her post are gifted. A tiny revolution 💪🏻

AdidasGirl · 27/03/2018 23:27

And still people are replying "Ignore the haters"
Have they not read anything she has written.
I guess they are the sorts of people that Instamums want on their page.
Cheerleaders liking every comment.

Fruitbowl2 · 27/03/2018 23:32

Clemmie Telford doesn't 'get it' either. See her response to MP. #brave 🙄

Babaloo88 · 27/03/2018 23:38

I clicked on to the link that pp regarding small brands and fake followers. Does anyone think that the big influencers did some followers buying!!?

puppower · 28/03/2018 00:05

I think so much of the adoring/ “ignore the haters” comments are because so many of the commentators are small influencers who want to get noticed & would love the same opportunities. One “big” influencer post a photo of a gifted baby outfit or bag, lots of smaller ones buy it so they can tag it too & “be in the gang”.

ObiJuanKenobi · 28/03/2018 00:06

MOD has started replying to some posts on MFs post now.
I think everyone could learn something from these threads. I certainly don't agree with all of it but have definitely taken a few points, good and bad, on board and it has changed the way I see certain content as a 'consumer' Instagram user Smile
