Sorry I phrased that badly (again). I don't find flex appeal alienating, I meant the imagery associated with my perception of the 'cool girl gang' on IG.

AdidasGirl · 27/03/2018 22:01

I'm trying to attach it.

AdidasGirl · 27/03/2018 22:01

It won't let me attach a screenshot @PavlovaPrincess

faceandpalm · 27/03/2018 22:05

@AdidasGirl I’ve just seen it! It was so good. I can understand why she didn’t reply directly underneath her comment. Firm but fair.

ObiJuanKenobi · 27/03/2018 22:05

This one?

I can't see it! Is it at the end?

Babaloo88 · 27/03/2018 22:06

Hopefully it works

Yep @faceandpalm Totally agree.Bless her though,She is replying to everyone.
Thank you MP for listening to us.

faceandpalm · 27/03/2018 22:11

@AdidasGirl It’s an interesting time for Instamums! Things are changing whether some of them like it or not. If MP does decide to move on, she can certainly do it with her head held high - it can’t be easy to stand her ground against friends.

Fruitbowl2 · 27/03/2018 22:11

Boom BadMotherPukka I have all the respect in the world for you. I suspected your motives on here and I'm sorry for being a d*ck.

PavlovaPrincess · 27/03/2018 22:13

Yes! Well done @Badmotherpukka! I have even more respect for you now than before.

MammaH2018 · 27/03/2018 22:13

There’s no way Mrs M is making the money her husband was making off shore. No way. Your talking about a figure in the region of 40K a year. I seriously refuse to believe that she’s getting that money from you tube.
She’s from family money - that’s glaringly obvious. She’s never had a regular job herself - so he was the main breadwinner over all the years before you tube...
One salary doesn’t pay for the massive house, 2 cars, stay at home mum with kids, holidays etc
They have money - they couldn’t do what they do and live like they do if they didn’t. You don’t quit a lucrative job off shore to make you tube videos unless you have no financial worries and have the money behind you to pay the bills etc
They don’t exactly come across as slumming it do they?!

auditqueen · 27/03/2018 22:15

Fruit bowl - thank you. I think that's what I was trying to express in my post, that many people are alienated by these posts, yes.

TheLadyhasarrived · 27/03/2018 22:15

Wow, so much respect for MP. Her responses have been spot on.

AdidasGirl · 27/03/2018 22:16

You get things done that's for sure @badmotherpukka
You took time away.Read and responded to our questions when others came on,ranted and flounced.Or on your post today, totally ignored the points you were making.Confused
I really hope this is the start of others following your excellent example.
We shall see.

springmachine · 27/03/2018 22:17

A friend of mine does YouTube videos and is a millionaire from it.

I'm pretty sure most people haven't heard of him but he has a following in his market that gets him the views to bring it in.

He probably only releases a video maybe once a week or once very two weeks tops.

He's only 29 years old too

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 27/03/2018 22:17

I guess it’s hard to tell your friend she has totally missed the point of the post, the above reply is skirting around it. It would be nice for her to be told by someone she respects that she has it all wrong regarding haters and trolls.

springmachine · 27/03/2018 22:20

I just had a look at MOD page on Instagram for the first time and am surprised to see that tons of the people I follow are liking her posts.

These are companies but also their women with massive followers who I thought were charity raising people etc.

Like Feathering etc.

Is this another one I need to avoid?

What about the others?
How do I know who to filter Shock

shesakeeper · 27/03/2018 22:23

I hope MoD isn't upset by perceived abuse and instead uses this opportunity to take a good long look at the direction her feed is taking. There's no need for this to be a bun fight, and I think Motherpukka understands that well. I think her responses to MoD and everyone else have been honest and careful.

IsThisAWindUp · 27/03/2018 22:24

@springmachine, they all like each others posts. It means nothing. It increases their engagement levels so makes them look better from the brands perspective. Its a bit like a pyramid selling scheme. They 'like' them whether they like them or not. Half the time they probably get a notification and press like and probably don't even bother looking at the post. I wouldn't use this as a filtering mechanism; judge them by their own content and opinions.

shesakeeper · 27/03/2018 22:25

Feathering DOES do a lot for charity and awareness, but yes I think she is a commercial instagrammer. She's definitely reaping the benefits of #gifted items.

Festivecheeseandcrackers · 27/03/2018 22:26

There’s a very clear difference in how this situation has been dealt with by MP and MOD and I think the reason for that difference is the former is clued up on journalists/PR and how to respond to criticism/crisis management. The later doesn’t have any of that experience - she’s a midwife. It’s certainly a challenge for bloggers/instagrammers who don’t have a mad comma/journalism professional background.

I guess that the agents don’t support them with any of this stuff which is a real shame. Something resembling traditional media training/reputation management which PR agencies give to their clients is really what is needed here. I think the fact that MOD did come on here to try and address the issues, even if it wasn’t done in the best manner, suggests that she does care and I imagine she’s feeling pretty crap about all of this.

I think unfortunately because she’s coming on here to try and address it, it has contributed towards her taking the brunt of the criticism. Others who have been mentioned in previous threads didn’t get involved and interest in them has fizzled out.

Festivecheeseandcrackers · 27/03/2018 22:27

sorry about the typos - trying to toe under the cover so as not to wake my son

IsThisAWindUp · 27/03/2018 22:27

She does disclose them though (I think), and she did a thoughtful blog post on it which was linked on an earlier thread. I re-followed her after reading that blog post. To raise awareness you need to have an audience so I have no issues with her increasing engagement if she is disclosing her paid content at the same time.

heldazz · 27/03/2018 22:27

Just to offer a different perspective. I have a (relatively) good sized account but I have never made a penny from Instagram, not do I try to. But it doesn't stop being assuming I do and in some cases outright questioning me!
