Without all the societal guilt and judgement heaped upon women?
I really wished it was viewed as a bog standard procedure, I’m sure women would feel a lot more in control of their reproductive health if it was.

I have never had an abortion in the UK but have chatted to friends in the UK who have.

Whilst it is still taboo (and I have told VERY few people about my abortion due to this) the medical profession seem to make it very simple and emotion free here.

I had one in Italy where the nurses (and another in patient - yes - i was an in patient for the blinking pill version) told me I was a sinner and God could see what I'd done. Charming. I didn't mention my atheism Grin

So, anyway, we have some steps to take but we should also realise that we are further ahead than some other European countries (including, obviously Ireland).

When I was pregnant with my first DC eight years ago I briefly used another parenting forum I won’t name. They would ban any user who posted about abortion ‘out of respect for women who had had miscarriages’ Hmm.

Having my DC and even my two miscarriages has made me more fiercely pro choice than ever. After experiencing all the pit falls of pregnancy and extremely traumatic labours, plus actually raising children I would never wish to force that on a woman who didn’t want it. I would honestly much rather a woman have ten abortions than even one unwanted child. No woman should have to forcibly experience pregnancy and labour. There is nothing pro-life about pro-lifers. I honestly can see no justification for placing the life of an actual living human being above the life of a foetus.
