To ask how many bras you wear in a week?

Please help settle an argument? My 13 yr old has just asked me for more bras, she has 6 (plus a sports bra) so 7, and likes to change them and wash them after each wear. I think this is utterly ridiculous, I change mine every 2/3 days, she thinks i’m minging.

To complicate it she’s a small back but already in an F cup so it’s quite difficult and expensive to get a bra for her. So just wondering what everyone else does?

Washing bras too often ruins them. I wear mine until it makes it's own way to the washing machine but then i'm not a smelly person.

Olddear · 24/03/2018 15:41

Clean bra every day.

Namechanged36 · 24/03/2018 15:41

I wear a clean one every day and also hand wash them. They last so much longer that way.

Woodfordhound · 24/03/2018 15:47

Clean every day. If I’m out in the evening I’ll usually shower and change bra and knickers then too. And obviously after exercise too. DD is 11, skinny and flat chested and not yet in bras just vest tops. She has about 10 and most def will have a clean bra for every day as soon as she needs them.

Woodfordhound · 24/03/2018 15:48

Oh and I machine wash then on the 12 minute hand wash cycle.

Cooroo · 24/03/2018 15:48

One a week. Sports bra for cycling.

Jenny17 · 24/03/2018 15:52

Fresh every day.

fruityb · 24/03/2018 15:53

I shower daily and wash my bra as and when. I couldn’t put a time on it but I’m not a sweaty person and I have sports bras for running - which I wash after each use as I sweat then.

And I wash my bras in the machine!

I’m clearly minging dirty and disgusting and smelly judging by this thread!

ballerini · 24/03/2018 15:54

Change every day and I must agree with one of the prev posts. It would feel so wrong to shower and then wear a bra I'd already had on. You wouldn't do that with knickers or socks!

SlowDown76mph · 24/03/2018 15:56

Clean one every day. She has 7 - that's plenty, show her how to wash them herself.

BackforGood · 24/03/2018 16:03

Unless you are a particularly sweaty person, there is no need for a clean bra every day, but even if there were, or, if she feels more comfortable with a clean one each day, she already has 7, so there are far more than enough to wash a couple out and stick them on the radiator / airer to dry loooong before he runs out. there's her solution.

Woodfordhound · 24/03/2018 16:05

I’m not particularly sweaty although I’ve had C cups since I was a skinny 17yr old. But it’s underwear so to me, it’s got to be clean every day.

AddictedtoSnickers · 24/03/2018 16:05

I'm with you too OP. Every other or third day I get a fresh one out. If your DD insists on more, take a look at the £6 Asda bras 'lace trim comfort' they don't have cup sizes, the 'small' is small in the back - size 8-10 and the cups are very stretchy. My slim, big boobed friend introduced me to them and they are SO comfortable, no nasty underwires.

TheUbercornMum · 24/03/2018 16:12

I have a fresh clean one everyday without fail.

Purplelife · 24/03/2018 16:13

A different bra every day is fine if you are just buying cheap ones from Primark, I’m sure it would be easy to end up with 30 pairs. But I buy quality bras that are all around £30-40 each. I don’t equate bra wearing to changing your underpants. That’s just weird. But then I’m not getting sweaty.

Nottheduchessofcambridge · 24/03/2018 16:20

Wow, all these people who wear clothes once and wash them. It’s very bad for the environment to be washing clothes that don’t need it. All clothes are worn next to the skin, unless you are a particularly sweaty stinky person I’m sure you can get more than one wear out of them.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 24/03/2018 16:23

None, I don't own a single bra. But if I did they'd probably get worn 2-3 times.

Woodfordhound · 24/03/2018 16:23

Purplelife, my bras cost £40 up to c £100 for extra special ones. I have about 25 and take good care of them. They are worn once then washed but still last a few years.

LemonysSnicket · 24/03/2018 16:23

I own 3 proper bras and 3 sports bras. I change them maybe every 4 days.

Tel her she’s killing the planet with her excessive water usage and wearing her bras out.

Kittysparks1 · 24/03/2018 16:26

I'm shocked. I had no idea people changed bras every day. Mine last a few wears.
I understand pants, vaginas have discharge. Breasts don't, as far as I was aware... Bras only have the crumbs that have fallen in them.
I can make a pair of jeans last a week Blush

LeonoraFlorence · 24/03/2018 16:29

Everyday. If I like a bra I buy several of the same.

ScipioAfricanus · 24/03/2018 16:34

One every three days ish. More often in the summer and changed every wear for sports bras.

RavenLG · 24/03/2018 16:38

Self Identiftied minger. 4-5days maybe? I’d rather disgusting than high maintenance and have to wash clean clothes all the time. Plenty of clothes are worn directly on the skin but I don’t wash them after every wear either dresses( I’ve sat in for 8hrs in a clean office) vest tops, scarves etc.

ALongHardWinter · 24/03/2018 16:41

Depends on whether or not I've sweated. In winter,I might go 3 days wearing the same one, whereas in summer,I would probably put a clean one on every day. If you shower or bath daily, you are hardly going to be dirty or sweaty,so wearing a bra 2 or 3 times is hardly going to make you stink of sweat.

Bramble71 · 24/03/2018 16:43

I might get through about 3 a week and always hand wash them, which is a pain. I need a large cup size and they're quite expensive so I don't like to risk them in the machine wash. I probably have 7 or 8 in total, mostly light colours for under light shirts and then a couple of darker ones.
