To ask how many bras you wear in a week?

Please help settle an argument? My 13 yr old has just asked me for more bras, she has 6 (plus a sports bra) so 7, and likes to change them and wash them after each wear. I think this is utterly ridiculous, I change mine every 2/3 days, she thinks i’m minging.

To complicate it she’s a small back but already in an F cup so it’s quite difficult and expensive to get a bra for her. So just wondering what everyone else does?

I hate women calling each other minging

Me too.

I probably wear 5 bras each week, so at point I wear the same one for - more than 10 hours.

To suggest that someone is 'minging' if they don't wear a fresh bra every single day is bloody ridiculous.

gruffalopuffalo · 24/03/2018 16:49

I would say to her no new ones, she has plenty. Nothing to stop her (hand or machine) washing them more often as she pleases.

Pinkprincess1978 · 24/03/2018 16:49

I don't wash mine every day, I usually have a few hanging up on back of bathroom door. They get washed probably after maybe 4 wears? Sports bras get washed after one wear though.

MsHopey · 24/03/2018 16:50

I've always worn mine for a few days.
I thought it was normal until I was pulled into my old office at work and told off for having the same coloured bra strap 3 days in a row.
Apparently I'm disgusting and people were so interrested in me they were checking what bra I was wearing daily Hmm
To each their own. Glad I don't work there any more and I still wear them for a few days.

pizzicato · 24/03/2018 16:51

Change mine every day after reading that you sweat and secrete acids from the skin that can rot the material.Plus if you shower every day how can you then put on a dirty bra !!

abigailsnan · 24/03/2018 16:56

I have a massive amount of bra's in all different colours and styles and change them every day it takes 2 mins to wash through when you shower so no excuse would you wear the same nicks every day I don't think so.

Ollivander84 · 24/03/2018 16:59

abigail- because at £30+ for a bra, and even Brastop can be £20+, I can't afford to have a massive amount of colours and styles!
I wash mine probably every 2-4 days, sports bras get washed after one wear as they're obviously sweaty

PennyPIckle · 24/03/2018 17:00

One. I’m
Not as well endowed as most women and very rarely wear a bra. I don’t see that as a bad thing 😊 16 year old daughter wears a clean bra every day. Unbeknown to her I put her once worn “dirty” bras back in her drawer without washing. She’s none the wiser and has had no complaints from school friends about being “niffy”.

fruityb · 24/03/2018 17:04

I shower at night so don’t put a bra on afterwards - nor is my bra particularly sweaty when I get in the shower!

TheUbercornMum · 24/03/2018 17:04

Maybe it's just me but I find the bra can smell of cooking smells or deodorant and not "fresh" smelling even if it doesn't smell especially dirty/sweaty. I just can't bring myself to put on a bra that isn't clean after a shower. Each to their own and no judgement on those who do it's just my personal preference.

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 24/03/2018 17:05

Sports bras after every use obviously as I sweat like crazy. Unless I’ve just done a quick 5km or 30 min bike so not that damp and will be running outdoors again in the next day... no one will know if I’m slightly smelly if I’m running outside!

Normal bras I can definitely get a good few days out of! Usually they get an airing if I wear them two days in a row but would definitely get another wear out of them.

I got a couple of small back, large cup bras in the Figleaves sale quite recently super cheap. Brastop.com is also quite good! Also consider joining a facebook group like Clothes for Boobs where people sell secondhand, often barely worn!

kimanda · 24/03/2018 17:10

@ubercornmum

Maybe it's just me but I find the bra can smell of cooking smell not 'fresh smelling.'

I tend to not wear my bra when I am cooking...... Confused

Equimum · 24/03/2018 17:12

I change every other day, but I still only have three bras!

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 24/03/2018 17:14

Plus if you shower every day how can you then put on a dirty bra !!

I would struggle to call a bra that's - in my case - been worn on clean skin, sitting quietly at a desk at home, for 8 hours or so, 'dirty.'

TollgateDebs · 24/03/2018 17:15

A clean bra each day, always have done.

Turnocks34 · 24/03/2018 17:16

I have three every day bras I wear depending on colour of my clothes (black, nude and white) I probably wear a new bra every two/three days.

NapQueen · 24/03/2018 17:18

Allpizza my 32dd and 32e are from Asda.

amievenawake · 24/03/2018 17:21

now when did i last change my bra ...?Hmm

StripeyDeckchair · 24/03/2018 17:25

I wear at least one a day.
If I do sports I wear a sports bra and then another clean bra
If I do something messy & shower afterwards or shower & change to go out I put on a clean bra afterwards.

I'd say wearing one for 2/3 days or more is pretty gross & likely to be smelly.

Also remember your daughter is a teenager & likely to be more active than you and she will also be very conscious of her body & how she looks & smells. Buy her some more bras.

Babdoc · 24/03/2018 17:27

Can’t stand the things, so never wear them. Most of them are synthetic and sweaty with uncomfortable elastic or digging in wires. Just put a clean t shirt on every day.

TheUbercornMum · 24/03/2018 17:28

@kimamda that's one solution to avoiding it smelling of whatever you're cooking! I tend not to take mine off until I get undressed for bed so that wouldn't have occurred to me!! Grin

Branleuse · 24/03/2018 17:28

Mine still smell of clean washing on day two. Less so by day 3, but they dont smell sweaty or peopley either, but then again, I dont usually sweat much, and I bath/shower most days, but I generally only change clothes if they smell or dont look clean (except knickers, which i often change twice a day)

gamerchick · 24/03/2018 17:32

Who the hell measured you for your bras? Bras that dig in don’t fit properly.

HelenaDove · 24/03/2018 17:33

Im 32HH and my size isnt easily available and at £30 a time i certainly cant afford seven of them.

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 24/03/2018 17:34
  1. I'm a 36H and they cost a small fortune so can't afford one a day.
