To ask how many bras you wear in a week?

Please help settle an argument? My 13 yr old has just asked me for more bras, she has 6 (plus a sports bra) so 7, and likes to change them and wash them after each wear. I think this is utterly ridiculous, I change mine every 2/3 days, she thinks i’m minging.

To complicate it she’s a small back but already in an F cup so it’s quite difficult and expensive to get a bra for her. So just wondering what everyone else does?

A fresh bra every day!!! - no wonder the environment is being polluted with detergents!

I give mine a sniff every few days - if it smells fine then on it goes!

Soubriquet · 24/03/2018 14:43

Never as I don't wear one GrinGrin

My boobs shrunk enough after pregnancy that I don't bother anymore.

Before that, I would probably wear the same one for a week especially if it's the only comfy one I had

only39p · 24/03/2018 14:44

I wear a sports bra for work...all week, the same one... at the weekends i don't usually bother (not well blessed in that department haha) so i'm a minger, hey ho! In the summer i do sometimes wash it mid week, I have a few but only find one comfy.

funnylittlefloozie · 24/03/2018 14:45

I don't think its "minging" to wear a bra two days in a row - unless you don't shower / wash regularly, or you get terribly sweaty round your boobs. I have a bit of an underwear thing though, so wear a fresh set every day. I have two pairs of knickers with some sets, so i can wear the matching bra more than once.

username182 · 24/03/2018 14:45

I wear a bra a bra for about 4 days. Don't see what's minging about it hardly the same as pants.
30f are difficult to find and expensive I don't want to destroy them by over washing.
Op I can recommend pour moi for reasonable priced pretty bras in small back sizes. They do free returns although I agree 7 bras is enough.

Branleuse · 24/03/2018 14:46

I have about 20 bras, but I wear the same few again and again, and I usually get about 4 days wear from one. Sometimes less sometimes more.

JanettheNotebookJunkie · 24/03/2018 14:49

How can you compare a bra to knickers [puzzled] You don't get vaginal discharge in your bra and if it comes into contact with your vagina or your anus then you're wearing it wrong.

BennyTheBall · 24/03/2018 14:49

I reckon I wear about 12 in a week!

I wear a clean one every day, sports bras at the gym and posh ones when I go out in the evening.

TuftedLadyGrotto · 24/03/2018 14:50

Until it smells. Probably about a week. I only have 3, I have 4 sports bras for running.

My boobs don't get sweaty. I wear my clothes more than once too, including t-shirt.

SundayGirls · 24/03/2018 14:50

I wear a bra twice before washing (in winter only when it's cold.

As soon as it gets warmer it's every day.

OriginalGeordie · 24/03/2018 14:50

Thanks for the replies. I do a bra wash once a week in a special bra bag. They are expensive and yes I’ve heard that washing them too often destroys the elastic. I sometimes spray with Febreeze and air if she’s not about Grin!

Every 2 to 3 days, I get the moulded T shirt bras from M&S and chuck them in the machine in a washbag with the rest of the stuff, I must admit they seem to last forever.

SundayGirls · 24/03/2018 14:53

^ also I shower twice a day (quick showers so not hugely water wasting!) so I don't really have chance to get sweaty/smelly.

KittenBeast · 24/03/2018 14:53

Wish I had bra problems. I only own sports bras, which I only wear occasionally. I used to completely pointlessly wear a bra, and I'd wear it for 2 or 3 days. It's not like my breasts secrete anything or smell.

snewsname · 24/03/2018 14:54

I knew I shouldn't have clicked on this thread.

I don't sweat much so I can go days without there being any smell whatsoever. I change it when I think "Oh its probably due a wash." I have never changed it because it is smelly and I'm sure there have been times when it's been about a week.

AnnieAnoniMouser · 24/03/2018 14:59

At least one fresh one every day - same ‘category’ as socks or tights.

They go in the machine. If they’re expensive they go in a net bag, my every day ones don’t. They last me a long time, washing them this way, so I’m certainly not faffing about handwashing them.

I don’t know how many I own, I guess around 15.

As DD is growing I wouldn’t buy too many at a time, but I’d make sure she had clean ones every day (provided she put them in the laundry bin).

Yes I would, because I think it’s ridiculous for each person in the house to do separate washing.

Every 2 days. Not a minger either!

roboticmom · 24/03/2018 15:02

The people who wash their bras after each use probably wash all their clothes after every use. It is a difference of opinion whether skin oils are dirt or not I guess. The skin oils are on your skin anyway so don’t gross me out. If I sweat I change my bra. Hopefully I work up a good sweat at least every other day, but if I don’t exercise for a week I might not change bra for a week! I also have expensive bras so only have 3 and a sports bra. I would say follow your daughter’s lead though. If she says she needs to wash them after every use, I think that’s fair.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 24/03/2018 15:07

I wash bras every use or so (only reuse if I will be wearing that particular bra the next day).

However there is nothing to stop your daughter either running a wash more than once a week, or hand washing a few bras to get her through to the next wash day. It seems like a good time to start her looking after her own clothes!

chocolateavocado99 · 24/03/2018 15:07

A clean one every day plus a sports bra when I work out, so 4-5 times per week. But, I live in the tropics and it is really hot here. I could not face putting on a bra that I had already worn once!

Elendon · 24/03/2018 15:08

Whilst I'm not working I do not wear a bra. I hate them. Post menopausal and there are no bras that fit me or are comfortable.

I do wear vests though that have some sort of support to them. I'd rather have droopy boobs than a crinkled and wrinkled decollete, which always happens now I wear a bra. I don't wear underwired either.

TheJoyOfSox · 24/03/2018 15:08

She has 6 everyday bras, that is ample, even if she changes daily. Show her how to hand wash her own bras and point out that new bras will be outgrown very very soon if she is anything like every other teen in the world. —They grow like weeds— so she can wait and you’ll spend money on new bras when she needs them not when she wants them.

userofthiswebsite · 24/03/2018 15:10

Yes, pretty much always a fresh one on.
Only exception would be if I had worn one for say 2 hours and just sat still reading or something and there was zero chance it was dirty and then I might put it on the next day.
Otherwise, clean knickers, clean bra, clean socks for sure.
