To ask how many bras you wear in a week?

OriginalGeordie · 24/03/2018 14:05

Please help settle an argument? My 13 yr old has just asked me for more bras, she has 6 (plus a sports bra) so 7, and likes to change them and wash them after each wear. I think this is utterly ridiculous, I change mine every 2/3 days, she thinks i’m minging.

To complicate it she’s a small back but already in an F cup so it’s quite difficult and expensive to get a bra for her. So just wondering what everyone else does?

Oh and I had a sports bra (cost £45 so just the one) washed after most runs (unless I had a run schedualed for the next day because otherwise it would dry in time)

DrHumphreyCat · 25/03/2018 18:03

7

fussychica · 25/03/2018 18:06

Another minger hereWink. Change every 2/3 days unless sweaty. Pants/socks/tights every day. Totally different in my opinion.
I think 7 bras is plenty. She should wash them by hand if she wants the guarantee of a clean one every day.

fatimashortbread · 25/03/2018 18:21

I wear 1 a week i.e. for 5 days 8-6; first thing I do is get out of it when I come home from work and I don’t wear them at weekends unless I am dressing up. My bras are all professionally fitted but I just hate being constricted in that way

Snowysky20009 · 25/03/2018 18:28

Fresh one every day, and fresh if I go out in the night. I own over 70, in every colour, style, etc. I will have a certain bra that I wear with a certain top.
They are also range in sizes 32GG/32H/32HH/34GG/34H/34HH
Because it depends where I buy them and what style determines the correct size. Thankfully I've stayed the same size for a few years, so have been able to acquire a collection!

mooncuppy · 25/03/2018 18:35

I have one bra which I usually wear for months without washing. Have one separate sports bra which gets washed after every use (or close enough).

SentfromHeaven · 25/03/2018 18:35

Keep the same bra on for a couple of months....... If I'm lucky!!!

lljkk · 25/03/2018 18:42

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks, I agree with others, you should try a bra-intervention, 40AA doesn't sound quite right. I'm very broad shouldered but still only a 34 Band.

lljkk · 25/03/2018 18:43

An underwired bra takes THREE DAYS to dry in the middle of winter

That's why my running bra doesn't get washed so often. Anyway, first thing I do is go out & get smelly & sweaty in it. Not much value in thinking of it as something that shouldn't smell!

CatHelp · 25/03/2018 18:45

I agree, fresh one every day. Also don’t get people who wear the same PJs the next day. Bleach

Wauden · 25/03/2018 18:46

Sports bras from Bravissimo, worn for two days max.

Gwenhwyfar · 25/03/2018 18:47

"An underwired bra takes THREE DAYS to dry in the middle of winter"

Not if it's on the radiator.

Wauden · 25/03/2018 18:49

I should add that I don't actually do sports, though!!!

KingPrawnOkay · 25/03/2018 18:52

Christ I didn’t know so many people only wore a bra for a day Blush. I wear a bra a week but I’m only a 28A so I don’t get underboob sweat or anything. I go to the gym or run 7 days a week though so I do put a clean sports bra on everyday, although as I am flat chested I can just pick up one for a fiver from HM or Hollister or whatever as I don’t need the support, so I suppose the cost justifies it. Same with pyjamas and tights though - one pair a week! I thought that was normal Confused.

fruityb · 25/03/2018 18:55

I’ll wear tights more than once - I always have done. They get washed regularly. I’ll change my undies twice a day sometimes but I just don’t feel the same way about other things. I don’t have the issues with my skin anywhere else the same I have with the undercarriage area if you get me.

I’m clearly a disgusting minger! Mingers unite!

www.goodhousekeeping.com/home/cleaning/tips/a32516/how-often-to-wash-bra/

I'm with good housekeeping on this one, 3 or 4 wears before the wash unless it's a sports bra. I don't think it's minging at all, some people just like to waste water, energy and money I'm sure Hmm

Charolais · 25/03/2018 19:02

Hark at you girls with your fancy washing machines - washing your smalls after only one wearing. Back in my day, when we had to drag our soiled clothes to the river - to our favorite rock, we made our clothes go longer between washes. Hell, some of those clothes walked themselves to the river.

Ariesgirl1988 · 25/03/2018 19:03

@OriginalGeordie I have 7 bra's and I'm a bit bigger than your daughter if you check the label on the bra's it tells you how to wash them either hand washing or machine instructions. Washing them too much can ruin them I wash them all once a week and put mine in a pillow case to protect them from getting caught on other clothes or the machine (my washing machine once got one of my wires stuck in it and was not fixable) generally if I haven't been sweating I will wear twice a week. Do not use Primark they're rubbish size wise as a previous poster said Asda do some good bra's for big sizes and are reasonably priced when I've got the cash I go to Debenhams expensive but worth it they'e so comfortable.

Bilbonaggins · 25/03/2018 19:04

This most has made me realise how disgusting I am as I keep the same one on all week 😀

I do wear a different sports bra if I’m exercising though!

turnipfarmers · 25/03/2018 19:04

When I absolutely have to. I only have one set of work clothes and one set of home clothes plus 1 pair of pjs so everything except my bra is washed daily ready for the next day.

MammaTJ · 25/03/2018 19:08

Even changing them every day, she has enough. I am sure you do more than one wash a week.

user1469485133 · 25/03/2018 19:14

I have about 7 bra's but I only really wear about 4 of them regularly. I might wear them 3 or 4 days in a row. I don't really sweat if Im honest lol
I'll change them more in the summer though, when I am a little on the sweaty side!
7 bra's for a teenager is quite excessive I'd say.

yes because im going to put a bra with a wire in it on a hot rad.

Bravissimo and the department store i used to get my bras from told me handwash and drip dry. I follow their advice on this not posters on an internet forum.

PoohBearsHole · 25/03/2018 19:19

oh mn you make me laugh 😂- minging not to change your bra everyday yet perfectly acceptable to change your bed sheets 1 x per month or every three weeks.

for what it’s worth, every 3 days and they don’t smell remotely!

CalendulaFlower · 25/03/2018 19:27

I change mine roughly every 3 days. It’s ridiculous to wash them after every wear (unless you’re breastfeeding) and will wear them out quicker.
