I have never understood what anyone liked about them and they were on absolutely everything for so long!

Looking forward to fresh faces and no longer seeing theirs!

And what difference does it make to someone who hates them if they're on or not. It's not as if you would have watched anyway is it?

Very true! They're still free to watch Panorama, Newsnight or Made In Chelsea or whatever takes their fancy.

Itmakesthereaderreadon · 25/03/2018 00:08

Ds is 8. He's just got into Saturday night takeaway. We've been suffering it cos he loves it. I can now see why my parents used to talk over all the Saturday night shite we used to watch in the early 90s. It's mind numbing tv and Ant and Dec have a peculiarly loyal following.

CadyHeron · 25/03/2018 00:16

Nowt wrong with a bit of mind numbing TV on a Saturday night.
It's entertainment, games,fun.
If you want mind numbing, start watching proper brain dead telly stuff like Made In Chelsea, TOWIE, Love Island, and the rest of the reality bollox out there.
Guaranteed to lose brain cells per episode. Grin

AverageSnowflake · 25/03/2018 00:29

I love Ant and Dec and I think it's a shame that Ant turned out to be a drunk driving tosser. I'd still watch Dec though because he's my fav..

Itmakesthereaderreadon · 25/03/2018 00:34

It's just so boring though! And we have to pretend to laugh so ds thinks we're enjoying it too.

alreadytaken · 27/03/2018 15:44

I've tended to switch them off, never quite understood the attraction. . I do care that if he'd killed the toddler and driven off he could only have got 61 days. The law on that needs to be changed - please sign the petition petition.parliament.uk/petitions/208008

Sparklingbrook · 27/03/2018 15:48

Have you posted that on every single Ant n Dec thread? I keep seeing it.

lllustriouslyIllogical · 27/03/2018 15:53

They don't bother me - because I know how to use my Remote!

Do you lot sit there watching them & seething??

noeffingidea · 27/03/2018 16:44

Ant bothers me in the same way that all people who drive over the limit do. Please keep your addictions to yourself without putting innocent passerbys at risk.
Never watched Saturday night takeaway, so can't really give an opinion, but if other people like it then fair enough.
I suppose the best case scenario is that Ant gets stuck into his rehab, sorts his life out and the pair get back onto TV again, assuming no other talent steps up and takes their spot in the meantime. Or Dec goes solo and discovers that he prefers it. In either scenario, those are the breaks.

hmcAsWas · 27/03/2018 16:50

YABU - I am not fans of them and don't watch that kind of tv, but apparently half the population is in mourning for their favourite comedy duo

IveGotBillsTheyreMultiplying · 27/03/2018 16:52

I must live in a bubble as I didn't know which was Ant or Dec until it happened.

Also didn't know about Saturday night takeaway-probably because we watch TV on catch up.

However his behaviour leading to the crash seems to be a result of addiction.

There are plenty of things around to get addicted to-caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, gambling, drugs (illegal or not), food (arguably).

Many are marketed at us and it's not surprising that a proportion of people get hooked.

I think people with addictions need support to free themselves, rather than shaming, hate and ridicule.

It's a separate issue whether you enjoy their show, if not there are an infinite number of other things to do.

alreadytaken · 28/03/2018 09:09

@Sparlingbrook Don't know how many Ant threads there are in total so probably not. I think it's disgusting that the petition hasnt got to 10,000 yet so I'll keep posting it on threads about drunk drivers until it does

Mydoghatesthebath · 28/03/2018 09:14

Ours grew up on Ant and Dec just like I grew up on morcombe and wise and the two Ronnies.

It’s a sad situation and a pretty nasty post.

Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2018 09:18

There are a lot alreadytaken. I think there's a Petitions board on MN.

SoupDragon · 28/03/2018 09:30

so I'll keep posting it on threads about drunk drivers until it does

That counts as spamming the boards.

SoupDragon · 28/03/2018 09:31

(Not that it isnt a worthy petition of course)

SoupDragon · 28/03/2018 09:32

I must live in a bubble as I didn't know which was Ant or Dec until it happened.

Apparently they always stand so you see Ant and Dec, not Dec and Ant.

TheDropBear · 28/03/2018 09:43

You're getting ahead of yourself, they're not off the screens yet. The auditions stages of Britains Got Talent have already been recorded with Ant and Dec presenting so they'll be airing that next month. Not been announced what they're going to do for the live shows.

specialsubject · 28/03/2018 09:45

Dec had enough warning that his double act partner was disappearing into a bottle, he should have taken action to establish as a solo.

I also now know which is which, I thought it was the little guy in rehab. Sorry.
