To hope Ant

Gets the help he needs and gets his life back on track. Glad no one was hurt in the incident and hope to see him back on the TV with Dec as soon as he’s better. To not sneer and be gleeful at the implosion of another human being or so glad that a ‘national treasure’ has shown himself to be fragile.

Drink driving is the most reprehensible of offences. So easy to cause a death or injury and so easy to avoid, with offenders being too arrogant or lazy to get a taxi or take public transport.

I had the pleasure of representing drink drivers most weeks when I was a solicitor, and doing my stint as court duty solicitor. They had all sorts of excuses about their personal problems, thinking they would be under the limit etc. etc. but for this offence there is no excuse at all. In the course of my work I also came across families who had lost a loved one through a road traffic accident where there had been drunken or dangerous driving, or both. I will never forget takling to the mother of a young man who was a back seat passenger in a car that was struck by a drunk driver and pushed off the road, he was the only one to be injured and the only one to die, just 17.

I think the public will find it hard to forgive this.

Drink driving is the most reprehensible of offences.

Yes, some say the crimes of Hitler, Jack the Ripper, etc could be considered worse but no. Ant had now toppled them from their villainous thrones.

Gawd Grin

I also think that nowvis the right time for him to be removed from tv. As another poster said, plenty of new talent out there

The 'ant n dec' brand had been tarnished for some time.

Wish him well with his recovery

kierenthecommunity · 21/03/2018 17:39

Well speculation over, he’s been charged

RunMummyRun68 · 21/03/2018 18:51

Oh. I guess he will get a ban then

Any news on those he injured?

BlueEyedBengal · 21/03/2018 19:40

To the mnetter that said who on m n hasn't had a parking ticket, speeding tick? Well me! I have never had any of them and that's since 1996total shines clean. He got in a lethal weapon will drunk and came so close to killing people it was a miracle that wasn't so. He does not deserve your defence of that. He's out of control and he must take the punishment like any other man who did this. Mh issues are no defence, plenty of people with mh issue they don't do this.

Bazzle · 21/03/2018 19:43

FFS you started a thread to discuss this more?! Seems you are the one enjoying his downfall the most Hmm

ConorMcGregorsChin · 21/03/2018 19:48

Actually Bazzle this is quite triggering for some of us. My own father was an alcoholic and was only caught out after being done for drink driving. Until that time, everyone around him supported him and tried to help him. God forbid he killed anyone.

Bazzle · 21/03/2018 20:12

What?! OP hopes he will be back on TV soon?! I bloody hope not.

My teenage cousin was killed in a drink driving incident, I sincerely hope family entertainment shows do not condone his behaviour by putting him back on the TV.

augustusglupe · 21/03/2018 22:14

I have no sympathy atall and did last time. I don’t know what he learnt last time in Rehab, but taking responsibility for his own behaviour would have been paramount. I’m not convinced he did Rehab atall tbh.
Now we’re hearing that the divorce has hit him hard!? But it does everyone!! And most haven’t got 60 mil in the bank. His mother is just enabling his behaviour, It’s the soft option, living with his mum!?. He’s a middle aged man ffs. Straight to proper Rehab and stay there til he’s really better and then, who knows... I just hope he doesn’t end up like Gazza..full of self pity.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 22/03/2018 14:48

augustusglupe I don’t think money makes any of it any better. Perhaps easier in some ways but by no means better. I don’t have money so I guess I can’t really comment. But I have addictive tendencies although not for alcohol as I don’t really like it. I have depression and anxiety along with suicidal thoughts. Sometimes your thinking is impaired and having it all aired in the public light cannot be easy. By all means he should be punished for his crimes especially as he is in the better position to afford taxis or a driver etc but I don’t think anyone can comment on how he actually feels. Also, rehab doesn’t always help. If it did everyone who goes there would be fine.
