What a stupid boy. Worth 60 million and doesn’t get a taxi. I just don’t know how he’ll come back from this latest fiasco (drink drive car crash hits 3 year old).

I just find it weird that anyone can sit down to watch his Saturday night show, watch him laughing and joking when his life is literally a car crash. How anyone can look at him and ignore the serious issues he has is beyond me all so they can have a cheap laugh.

Being in a car accident is shocking enough but to find out the person has been drinking is unforgivable. I feel sorry for those involved, sure it's not what they were expecting on a Sunday afternoon going about their business.

exWifebeginsat40 · 19/03/2018 09:34

if he was over the limit at 4pm it wasn’t a night-before thing. he’ll have had vodka in his water bottle or his juice drink or his can of coke. his mother wouldn’t have noticed necessarily, especially as he spent months and months hiding his drink/painkiller intoxication from everyone.

source: am recovering alcoholic. spent most waking hours trying to stay pissed without anyone noticing.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 19/03/2018 09:34

People don't know the facts here who hasn't driven after having had a big night out the night before I'm not proud of it but I can certainly think of many times in my younger days when I on reflection

Well I haven't and I should think neither have a lot of the posters on here.

RunMummyRun68 · 19/03/2018 09:36

I haven't driven drunk either!

Cheby · 19/03/2018 09:36

I like Ant and Dec, I’ve always been a fan. However drink driving is completely and utterly unforgivable. I don’t care what addiction issues he is struggling with, or whether it was from the night before, he made an active choice to get into that car and drive when he wasn’t sober, when he did that he chose not to care about any one else on the road, he chose to disregard the safety and lives of everyone else around him.

And to the PP above who said ‘who hasn’t driven after a big night out’, I haven’t. I’ve left the car in a neighbouring city before after staying at a friends’ House and caught a train, returning for it the next day. Yes it was a PITA but it was my own stupid fault for drinking too much. Much better to inconvenience myself than risk the lives of everyone around me on the road.

MissEliza · 19/03/2018 09:40

Who hasn't driven over the limit the morning after? I probably have. I think there's a lot more awareness now about it. I had a big night out on Saturday. I walked to the shops in the morning, despite the weather. I didn't get in the car until 2pm. Who doesn't know about how long it takes to you to process alcohol?

ferrier · 19/03/2018 09:40

So it's just the 'underclasses' that like Ant and Dec? Hmm

Figgygal · 19/03/2018 09:42

You can be perfectly sober but fail a breathalyser

StealthPolarBear · 19/03/2018 09:43

Do you mean you can act sober but with high blood alcohol levels?

NewYearNewMe18 · 19/03/2018 09:44

Look, he was over the limit. What evidence would be presented to a jury to make that fact not true? Genuine question, I'm open to ideas.

As I keep saying, repeatedly, I'd prefer for facts and a trial ..... he's arrested on suspicion .

Now I do appreciate the shoot 'em, flog 'em, hang 'em brigade often don't like those little things , like ummm the law, a court, a trial, and dare I say it 'innocent until proven guilty' - he very well may plead guilty, the second breathalyser may not have given a reading (its my understanding that there is a second test - correct me if I'm wrong) - and at no point have I yet seen this morning the phrase 'a 42 year old man has been CHARGED etc'. Of maybe we should wait for some actual facts or some actual charges and some actual circumstances?

Trial by tabloid closely followed with a social media jury really isn't (IMHO) an improvement on our justice system.

Can't say I'm surprised at some of the nice comments on here..hostility runs like rivers through this forum.
Whatever the poor man's good fortune & success, he has clearly been through some tough times of late. And in that sense, I feel for him. As I would for anyone.

StealthPolarBear · 19/03/2018 09:46

As has the other family who did nothing to deserve it

RunMummyRun68 · 19/03/2018 09:47

He was reportedly very agitated at the scene, shouting etc

Something to hide?

There's probably more to this. Road was closed off etc. Is that usual?

Depending on where accidents happen and the severity, that can be entirely normal.

Pedallleur · 19/03/2018 09:50

he works in TV so they'll understand. He has issues with drink and I'm sure he will take the court hit and jail time will be avoided.prob be a ban but that will allow him to get better.

WashingMatilda · 19/03/2018 09:51

newyearnewme please read my previous post.

NewYearNewMe18 · 19/03/2018 09:52

Mumto2two I agree - and observations have shown me over the years its a quaintly British trait. No one irrespective of class, likes someone who gets above their station. Ant (and Dec) should stay in their Northern pit villages, never have made it, shouldn't have stardom and wealth, etc - you see it time and time again with anyone who is w/c who has bettered themselves. The masses don't like success. They always want to kick someone when they are down. You can line up anyone who has clawed their way out and look at the vitriol poured upon them for accumulating wealth.

TBH I'm surprised there has only been one post mocking he and his wife couldn't have children a la money doesn't buy everything

No work, no money

Well, they're hardly in a position where they'd be looking for a referral to a food bank.

Madmarchpear · 19/03/2018 09:56

Kick someone when they're down? He is a multi millionaire with access to the best help. All of his problems are self inflicted.

raidthefridge · 19/03/2018 09:57

ITV are a bloody joke. Anyone else and that twat, Piers Morgan, would have hung him out to dry for this yet not ONE word of opinion from him this morning. I'd be amazed if This Morning even mention it - yet it will be ALL they're talking about behind the scenes.

NewYearNewMe18 · 19/03/2018 09:57

If it were 6am that may be an excuse, a lame one but an excuse. At 4pm in the afternoon though, no.

Depends on your working day - just because the main populace are awake 6am-10pm don't apply that to everyone. His day quite probably wouldn't have ended until the early hours of the morning, (Filming, live show, St Paddys day, wrap party etc) ergo 4pm may well be breakfast time in his world. By his admission he suffers with depression and is medicated for it, and we all know as its rammed down out throats on this forum that depression plays havoc with your body clock. So enough of the 4pm means he's squiffy with sherry on his cornflakes malarkey. You simply don't have the facts to make that statement.

Elphame · 19/03/2018 10:00

They are the type of TV personalities that led to me ceasing to watch TV years ago.

I hope they throw the book at him
