What a stupid boy. Worth 60 million and doesn’t get a taxi. I just don’t know how he’ll come back from this latest fiasco (drink drive car crash hits 3 year old).

First thing I thought when I read that Dec and wife were expecting was they rushed that news out to deflect all negative news stories about Ant. They could have held that back longer, nice news for them but come on - She's not even showing so no one would have guessed.

Sparklingbrook · 25/03/2018 11:42

Who has actually announced this news?

dayswithaY · 25/03/2018 11:48

Front page of The Sun, I'm assuming the story came from the couple's PR or they wouldn't be confident enough to run it.

Sparklingbrook · 25/03/2018 11:49

I am not sure about that days, will be interesting to see.

Belindabelle · 25/03/2018 11:52

I see you have had the same thoughts as me regarding Gazza. That was nearly eight years ago! All together now "The Fog on the Tyne is all mine all mine".

NinjagoNinja · 25/03/2018 11:52

Totally cynical move. No need to announce it at all. Everything ITV is carefully controlled in the tabloids because they all have a stake. The Sun have been told directly and given the go-ahead to "leak".

WowLookAtYou · 25/03/2018 11:54

She's not even showing.

I disagree. I looked at that picture of her and Dec walking along the road the other day and thought she looked a bit thicker around the middle than to be expected for someone usually as slim as she is. Even under her open jacket.

Anyway, even thought Ant & Dec are a brand, Ali and Dec are a married couple and their baby news is exactly that. Theirs. To release news of to suit themselves. Surely better (for them) to let people know before all the speculation in the media.

dayswithaY · 25/03/2018 11:55

So now everyone's saying "Aah how lovely" not "Ooh I hate Ant!" It's so transparent .

Sparklingbrook · 25/03/2018 11:57

I think people are saying both.

They have to hate Ant forever obviously. I think they are saying it's lovely news but what a shame his mate and business partner went drink driving last weekend.

Emily7708 · 25/03/2018 11:58

What a surprise - a timely bit of stage managed news to try to save the crumbling Ant and Dec empire. This way it will look like he was also upset about the new baby after his own fertility troubles, and gain lots more sympathy. It’s very clever.

So are we saying Dec and Ali conceived this baby to time it so that the announcement could be made a week after Ant went drink driving? Interesting thought i suppose.

NinjagoNinja · 25/03/2018 12:05

Of course not. But they could have kept it to themselves. They don't usually court publicity and I'm sure could have kept the lid on this for a while longer.

Sparklingbrook · 25/03/2018 12:08

I don't think the timing made a difference. Maybe if they had announced it a week ago I would have raised an eyebrow.

The incident happened, Ant went to court and will reappear in April for sentencing, he's now in rehab or so we are led to believe. That's it for now.

Why not announce it? Or leak it to the papers? Gets it all over with and Dec can then concentrate on SNT for the next 2 weeks.

TempusFugitive · 25/03/2018 12:12

Transparent timing of announcement of course but id want to take the heat off him too if he were my friend
Who honestly wouldnt do that for a frien?

Belindabelle · 25/03/2018 12:12

I wish we had a like button Ninja.

bastardkitty · 25/03/2018 13:10

You cannot think it was Dec's idea to provide this smokescreen news!?

ferriswheel · 25/03/2018 14:40

What was Ninja saying?

raisedbyguineapigs · 25/03/2018 14:58

I think probably Dec will be soooo smitten with his new family that won't be able to leave his wife and new baby's side when IACGMOOH is on, so they will either 'have to' give it a break or try out a new presenting duo, just to see how it works out you know, nothing to see here...

StealthPolarBear · 25/03/2018 15:08

"Sparklingbrook

Gazza 'n' Dec doesn't have the same ring somehow."

We got rid of the drunken liability and replaced him with... Gazza!

ferriswheel · 25/03/2018 15:29

Raisedby

I think that too.

HelenaDove · 25/03/2018 18:15

"But I do think it's very sad that so many people obsess about them. Is it a way of forgetting about their own little problems in life"

If you did a search on my user name you would find very little to no postings on the sleb twaddle board. Yet im on these threads. Why? Well not because im obsessed with celebrity but because i know Joe Bloggs from a council estate would have been treated very differently.

MorningsEleven · 25/03/2018 18:35

Yup. And he'll make a solo comeback doing grown up TV.

Figgygal · 25/03/2018 19:55

Is this confirmed anywhere? I saw speculation on the fail but nothing official
