What a stupid boy. Worth 60 million and doesn’t get a taxi. I just don’t know how he’ll come back from this latest fiasco (drink drive car crash hits 3 year old).

They make the TV companies too much money so I’m sure he’ll say it was booze from the previous night and just carry on.

NewYearNewMe18 · 19/03/2018 09:06

At 4pm in the afternoon?

St Paddys the night before - who knows what time he may have been out until, or when the wrap party finish ?

I sincerely doubt TV presenters are up at 6am when their working day starts mid afternoon.

Anyway, it's all ifs-and-buts.

I'd rather wait for the court case. assuming a second test proved positive and there is a court case

StealthPolarBear · 19/03/2018 09:08

My cousin (quite rightly) lost his licence for 18 months after being caught driving after too many the night before.

MissEliza · 19/03/2018 09:09

So what if it's booze from the night before? That's the law and if you've had a heavy session the night before, you'll be tired and your reflexes will be affected. I can't believe people are trying to defend a drunk driver.

Many of your average joes would ruin their careers if caught drink driving. I don’t see why he should be any different.

Didn’t he hand over a lot of his fortune to his wife after they separated.

Just goes to show money doesn’t buy you happiness

CadyHeron · 19/03/2018 09:12

stealth exactly! WTF's Dec done? Nothing, that's what. So why penalise him? People spouting some proper shite on this thread.

metalmum15 · 19/03/2018 09:12

Whether he was over the limit or not, he shouldn't have been drinking. In august he went to rehab for alcohol and painkillers addiction, and came out saying he was clean. Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. You don't suddenly become cured in a few months. He needs to admit to himself he has a problem, until then his life will probably continue to spiral out of control.

Why? He was over the limit

Please don't ever sit on a jury Janey if you cant wait for the facts and a trial.

Figgygal · 19/03/2018 09:13

People don't know the facts here who hasn't driven after having had a big night out the night before I'm not proud of it but I can certainly think of many times in my younger days when I on reflection I shouldn't have been driving so I'm not going to condemn him.

The guy is obviously struggling it's ridiculous that he is working as much as he is considering everything that's going on in his personal life and his health. I don't know who is advising him or looking out for him but something is clearly not right at the moment He needs to take some time out. People should be furious with him but those close to him also need to help him

Well presumably he can make his decisions. If I were him I'd personally be looking for something on the side, suspect radio would snap him up!

We don't have all the facts?

He failed a breathalyser test, and was involved in an accident. If he refused one then I am sure it would say that.

That is enough to judge him.

Should it be found out that he was not over the limit then I will eat my words. An addict, an accident, a failed breathalyser. If it walks like a duck... I hope he gets the same punishment as anyone else would in this situation.

As far as I can see he hasn't yet been charged. I'll reserve judgment till he is.

No. I haven't. Ant isn't young so he can't even use that as an excuse.

I hope the majority of people wouldn't drive after a heavy night of drinking if it is likely they are still over the limit.

bastardkitty · 19/03/2018 09:22

He was over the limit. He blew a positive breath test and was arrested. The question is whether the later blood test was also positive to meet the threshold for being charged. But that does not alter the fact that he was over the limit and was arrested.

RunMummyRun68 · 19/03/2018 09:22

*car!!

WashingMatilda · 19/03/2018 09:24

Can the PP's who keep bleating on about 'wait until the court case' remember that driving over prescribed limit is an 'absolute' offence, meaning anyone providing an evidential breath test in custody (roadside not evidential) over 40mg will automatically be charged with the full offence. (35mg is the legal limit but no charge unless 40mg)

The conditions (ie how long he will be banned for, rehab, suspended sentence) will be decided by court but once you've blown over - that's it. There's no legal defence to drink driving so no need for all this 'innocent until proven guilty' nonsense.

I'm a traffic cop and my first fatal RTC was a 12 year old girl who was killed by a drink driver.

If his name was Brian, working as a labourer I think you'd be having a different conversation.

IanRushesInadequateFlushes · 19/03/2018 09:27

I do sort of feel sorry for Dec, but then he’s made his name and a colossal fortune out of their double act rather than going it alone years ago. I doubt that would have had the same result. So there are people for whom I have far more sympathy.

However I’ve seen more than one tweet where people have posted about ant but put up a pic of dec - it’s like bill nighy in “love actually” when he says “and and/or dec”!

Hoppinggreen · 19/03/2018 09:30

Supposedly he was with his Mum coming back from taking the dogs for a walk
That suggests a serious alcohol problem to me, who goes dog walking with their Mum while pissed?
He could have killed someone and deserves to be punished severely

HuskyMcClusky · 19/03/2018 09:31

If his name was Brian, working as a labourer I think you'd be having a different conversation.

Of course we would.

And the whole ‘But he’s been under so much pressssurrre!!’ thing is just laughable.

He’s a 42-year-old multi-millionaire with no children to support. He’s a telly presenter, not Secretary of State. He can quit his job tomorrow and live the rest of his days in the lap of luxury if he wants. He can afford the best rehab, chauffeuring, etc etc, that money can buy.

He’s under a lot less pressure than your average Joe alcoholic, I’d say.
