What a stupid boy. Worth 60 million and doesn’t get a taxi. I just don’t know how he’ll come back from this latest fiasco (drink drive car crash hits 3 year old).

You can be perfectly sober but fail a breathalyser

Do you mean you can act sober but with high blood alcohol levels?

A breathalyser doesn’t measure your blood alcohol levels.

SoupDragon · 19/03/2018 10:03

I remember doing a pre-learning drivers course many years ago (when dinosaurs roamed the earth) and to show how the breathalyser worked one boy had to swirl alcohol round his mouth and then take the test. I cannot imagine them doing this in school these days!

CuboidalSlipshoddy · 19/03/2018 10:03

Who hasn't driven over the limit the morning after?

I never have. I don't drive the following day if I've been drinking more than a glass or two of wine. If you find yourself unable to avoid drinking to the point of being over the limit the following day, in other words being immensely drunk the night before (your body clears around a unit of alcohol per hour, so it means you've drunk probably 12 or more units of alcohol over the previous evening) then it's your choice.

Rich man believes law doesn't apply to him, causes accident. Wanker. "Demons" and "Disease"? Please. Self-indulgent wanker, that's the end of it. If there weren't a 3 year old in hospital, it would be just pathetic. As there is, it isn't remotely funny. It's a shame he couldn't find a flight of steps to fall down before he got into the car.

rocketgirl22 · 19/03/2018 10:05

Ant looked out of it on TV during the celebration show, at the time Dec looked very nervous and ill at ease.

I don't think he was ready to come back. needed much more time, too late now.

CuboidalSlipshoddy · 19/03/2018 10:06

You can be perfectly sober but fail a breathalyser

I don't care. The criminal offence in is the failure to pass an intoximeter test. The end.

The excuses that alcoholics make for themselves are pathetic. Next he'll be doing all the AA crap about higher powers and making amends (ie, pathetically asking people who he's hurt to forgive him, while he take no responsibility whatsoever, in best AA "I'm an INNOCENT VICTIM OF A DISEASE" blame-shifting tradition).

His day quite probably wouldn't have ended until the early hours of the morning

So he should get a taxi. He can afford it.

By his admission he suffers with depression and is medicated for it

Sounds like a reason to avoid drinking. Or get a taxi. He can afford it.

But then, the law doesn't apply to him, does it?

BaronessEllaSaturday · 19/03/2018 10:08

You can be perfectly sober but fail a breathalyser

Someone I know failed the road side test because she was too distressed to provide a sample, so she was arrested on suspicion and tested and cleared at the station. She tried but she couldn't get her breathing under control to physically do it. She hadn't been drinking

Mumto2two · 19/03/2018 10:09

All this talk of kicking people while they are down, being deserved on the basis of being successful and therefore..having access to all the help they need. Wow. Clearly not the caring kind on here...

ReinettePompadour · 19/03/2018 10:09

Probably been said already but theres the possibility of him blowing over the limit on the side of the road after having a pub lunch with a glass of wine but they will take bloods at the station and they will find he is under the limit so no drink driving charge.

However they could look at a charge of being unfit to drive through drink or drugs with him allegedly taking prescription medicine and the possibility of mixing with a drink over lunch or even dangerous driving depending on what the police find.

As theres been no statement from him or the police no one can really say whether it will affect his future career or whether he really was drink driving.

Its all speculation at the moment and given most of the links Ive seen are from the tabloids like the mail and the mirror, none of which have a particularly good reputation for reporting the truth, I don't think anyone will know what happened apart from those involved directly.

RunMummyRun68 · 19/03/2018 10:15

Just driving without due care and attention? He caused an accident....alcohol or not

PikachuHeadgear · 19/03/2018 10:15

I don't care. The criminal offence in is the failure to pass an intoximeter test. The end.

It isn't though. The criminal offence is exceeding the blood alcohol limit.

bonnyshide · 19/03/2018 10:16

He's a very wealthy man, had an amazing career, maybe it's time to take the pressure off and take a break and look after himself.

He's clearly drinking again, his marriage has ended, who knows what else is going on behind the scenes. He's obviously not coping, it really can't be easy going through all that in the limelight.

I wonder if the pressure of being part of a double act has forced him back to work too soon, is there a 'Dec' without an 'Ant'?

CuboidalSlipshoddy · 19/03/2018 10:18

The criminal offence is exceeding the blood alcohol limit.

Usually, as measured by an evidential intoximeter. 1988 Road Traffic Act, S.7(1).

Bluelady · 19/03/2018 10:18

As of 35 minutes ago he hadn't been charged. If he turned out to be over the limit on his second breathalyser, surely he'd have been charged yesterday? It would appear the police are waiting for the results of his blood test.

How are all of you baying for his blood going to feel if he has no charge to answer?

CuboidalSlipshoddy · 19/03/2018 10:24

Given he failed a roadside breath test, I'll think "good lawyer, shitty client". At best, it means he was borderline on the limit.

Advice to ITV stars: if you can't control your drinking to the point you fail roadside tests but get away with it down at the station, stay out of Scotland. The limit's a lot lower.

It would be pretty rare for anyone to have a blood test since 2015 -

TempusFugitive · 19/03/2018 10:28

Where does it leave Dec? Unless Ant can atone for this in a way that is acceptable and appropriate then they cannot just pop him back in front of the screen.

Any news on how the little girl is doing?

MammaTJ · 19/03/2018 10:28

I understand addiction and problems but he is better placed than most to get help and also to have just got bloody taxi.

I love his shows but yes, it might be hard to recover his career from this. I won't be able to watch without feeling disgust.

CuboidalSlipshoddy · 19/03/2018 10:30

Where does it leave Dec?

Between Nov and Jan.

TempusFugitive · 19/03/2018 10:32

I'm laughing at comments up thread that they came from an underclass. They aren't from the south of England you mean?

ReinettePompadour · 19/03/2018 10:32

It would be pretty rare for anyone to have a blood test since 2015 No its not rare. Its a regular request at the police station for those who don't believe they were over the limit. I know several nurses whose job appears to mainly be taking blood from suspected drink drivers to prove they were under over the limit.

Bluelady · 19/03/2018 10:32

Thanks for the link, frank, that development had passed me by. In which case, why wouldn't the police have charged him yesterday if he failed the second breath test?

MadMags · 19/03/2018 10:33

Between Nov and Jan.

That was so bad I actually laughed! Grin
