What a stupid boy. Worth 60 million and doesn’t get a taxi. I just don’t know how he’ll come back from this latest fiasco (drink drive car crash hits 3 year old).

That mirror article. “good news is doctors said I’m not an alcoholic” it was just the booze mixed in with the pills. Looking forward to a pint in oz.

As if..... clearly not rehabs best graduate there.

Sparklingbrook · 19/03/2018 07:32

Do I detect a bit of glee in some of these posts?

WinnieTheW0rm · 19/03/2018 07:38

No, I don't think anyhow be is gleeful about a 3 year old being in a car crash, even when injuries are not serious.

SoupDragon · 19/03/2018 07:43

there was 3 cars involved, nobody knows whose fault it was yet.

The only person at fault from driving whilst over the limit is the driver who was over the limit.

Wishfulmakeupping · 19/03/2018 07:43

Exactly. Sad all round

SharronNeedles · 19/03/2018 07:43

Has it been confirmed that he was drunk?
I can't open the link on here but the article I was reading said that a 42 yo failed a roadside breathalyser. Very careful not to directly say it was him and by failed they could mean he refused to do a roadside one. That counts as a fail.

MsSquiz · 19/03/2018 07:48

Not everyone who goes to rehab for an addiction then avoids all addictive substances. So going to rehab for painkiller addiction doesn't mean never drinking alcohol again.

I'd imagine it's quite likely that the alcohol in his system was from the night before, hence his mother not "stopping him from driving if he was pissed" I'd like to think he wouldn't be stupid enough to get behind the wheel of a car while knowingly drunk, after everything he has been through recently.

The young girl was taken to hospital as a precaution as she was in 1 of the other 2 cars involved.

Fruitbat1980 · 19/03/2018 07:48

Some interesting thoughts. For what it’s worth I’ve always been an ant and dec fan, and am certainly not gleeful.
Having read 2 or three of the articles now from different witnesses and watched the slightly iffy video of the aftermath I stand by the original statement, they’ll have to do a lot of PR spinning to get him out of this. It was late afternoon, he was over the limit by roadside test (confirmed by police statement). The cars he hit were on opposite side of road, damage was pretty significant, mum of 3 year old had bloodyface/ cut lip, three year
Old in distress so getting checked out.
Carragher got suspended for spitting whilst driving. He wasn’t drunk and he got suspended. Maybe a good job ant doesn’t work for sky...
thanks to all those that saw the thread as it was- curios as to how/ if he’ll come back/ how they’ll spin it. I guess we’ll find out later today....

I'm surprised at some of the sympathy on here, given the disgust your average Joe drink driver gets on here. Not many comments about stress on those threads

Iooselipssinkships · 19/03/2018 07:49

I can't see why he'd refuse when it leads to arrest unless he was actually over. Which is not cool. It said at 1am he was still there so an overnight stay in the cells seems likely.

No glee here. For my 30th DP tried to get as many celebrities to send me a Happy Birthday message (he's daft) and Ant & Dec were ones that did, on a IACGMOOH card which I've put on the wall.

sweetmonkeys · 19/03/2018 07:52

What do you mean we don't know the full facts??!

I'VE SEEN THE PICTURES IN THE SUN.

Grin
SharronNeedles · 19/03/2018 07:56

I hadn't realised it had been confirmed he was over the limit. I had thought (hoped) he'd refused one because he was scared/nervous/upset/not thinking clearly. It's the type of situation you can't ever imagine being in so have no idea how you would actually react.
Anyways, it's a moot point if it's been confirmed. I'm so disappointed! I'm a massive fan of them both and have genuinely felt for Ant recently. I can't see myself supporting his career if he knowingly drove with alcohol in his system knowing what could happen. Whether the accident was his fault or not, you've got no leg to stand on if you are above the limit. I'm sure this won't damage their career mind, look at people like Matthew Broderick, didn't he kill someone and his career didn't die.

Mrsfloss · 19/03/2018 08:02

He is entrenched in denial. If he was anything like my exh who went to rehab for painkiller addiction and also thought he could drink succuesfully. His mother possibly didn’t know he was over the limit if he was sneaking around drinking (bitter about exh)

He needs a proper hardcore rehab not one where he is pampered and needs to see the reality of his addiction. Most “normal” drinkers don’t refuse a breathylyser at 4pm on a Sunday.

I think he will go to American rehab and needs time to recover

whatashower · 19/03/2018 08:03

Gosh. I am shocked mildly concerned at the number of posters who don't let the absence of critical information get in the way of a good story an opportunity to be 'outraged' and 'disgusted'.

Op, if this thread is anything to go by, he will struggle to come back even if he tested positive for mouthwash and was rushing his mother to hospital.

LagunaBubbles · 19/03/2018 08:06

Quite how that pair of knobs have managed to make 60 million is beyond me

Is it so hard to think that just because you don't like them others might? They're good at what they do otherwise they wouldn't be so popular. Although that might obviously change now!

SoupDragon · 19/03/2018 08:08

My sympathy for him lies in his obvious mental health/addiction problems. Not so much the actual act of failing the breath test.

bastardkitty · 19/03/2018 08:09

Not entirely sure what his Mum was doing letting him drive!

This is an adult male in denial about his addiction and causing havoc in other people's lives. This thread is the shame of MN.

Wishfulmakeupping · 19/03/2018 08:10

Yy

FleurDelacoeur · 19/03/2018 08:12

Poor Dec more like - he's snookered without his sidekick.

No sympathy for any drink drivers.

YearOfYouRemember · 19/03/2018 08:13

I feel sorry for him. No amount of money is worth your life being discussed by people who have no idea about his life as they are not him.

Masterbuilders · 19/03/2018 08:13

I hope his career is finished. He didn’t think about who he’d hurt gettin in that car. Dec, that girl, others he may have hit.

Yeah he may have an addiction, however addicts are inherently selfish. I know someone who was killed by a drink driver. He doesn’t deserve a second chance.

I say that even if it was from the night before (people are guessing it maybe). The risks from a heavy night are well publicised. No excuses.

CadyHeron · 19/03/2018 08:16

erm what exactly was the point of this thread? whats it to do with us what his problems are? blimey what a waste of a thread

Exactly, loads of hand rubbing glee and shitty speculation.

Laiste · 19/03/2018 08:18

Would posters still feel sorry for him if the family in the other car had been killed? Do they feel sorry for all drink drivers, or just the chipper TV personality types?

trickyboots · 19/03/2018 08:18

People make mistakes. Terrible decision, but an awful mistake by him. Thankfully it wasn't worse.

If he's truly got 60 million, I don't want to see the manipulative, career saving pr interviews. He should just go and sort his shit out and good luck to him in doing that.

HuskyMcClusky · 19/03/2018 08:20

^Do they feel sorry for all drink drivers, or just the chipper TV personality types?*

Yeah, just the latter.

Nobody feels sorry for the alco next door who drives pissed and smashes into innocent people.
