What a stupid boy. Worth 60 million and doesn’t get a taxi. I just don’t know how he’ll come back from this latest fiasco (drink drive car crash hits 3 year old).

He failed a roadside breath test. The police arrested and held him for 10 hours. That is all from a police statement

Masterbuilders · 19/03/2018 16:09

I don’t get why people are so defensive over drink driving. There is not innocent until proven guilty. If he’s charge with drink driving and he’s over. It’s automatically guilty. Unless there is a monumental legal cock up. Like the traffic officer in here posted.

It’s minimum 12 month ban and criminal record, all that can happen is a solicitor can fight your corner for a minimum sentence. Those that promise to get people off drink driving are sharks. It’s very black and white.

Also the law doesn’t differentiate between drunk from the night before or that day. You’re either over or you aren’t.

The amount of people defending him is shocking, no wonder so many people get caught out the next day, people are almost falling over to use that as a possible excuse.

That was one hell of a crash, it’s lucky no one was hurt. Drink drivers destroy lives, if they destroy their own that’s their choice. However the son, daughter, husband or wife that may never come home if hit by one. They don’t get that choice. I think it should be prison for drink drivers, having seen the devastation they can cause.

Bluelady · 19/03/2018 16:14

I see he still hasn't been charged. Which is quite astonishing if he was over the limit.

Still not defending drunk drivers. Still relying on fact.

ManicUnicorn · 19/03/2018 16:21

I think the reason ITV are ignoring it is because they are totally shitting themselves wondering how the hell they are going to spin this one.

The problem with ITV is that they rely too heavily on a small stable of people, A&D, Phil and Holly, Piers Morgan, Davina, Emma Willis etc. They need to start casting the net a bit wider and looking for new fresh faces. Everything on the channel is all very samey.

Well, the Daily Mail now have video of the immediate aftermath.

His car is on the wrong side of the road, with massive offside front damage, slight frontal damage and multiple airbags deployed. It wouldn't be movable under its own power, so the fact that it's on the wrong side of the road says that happened as part of the accident. It's stopped against the front of an X5, which is hardly damaged.

The green Mini in which people were hurt is also further up the road, on the correct side. Presumably the extensive offside front damage is from an offset impact on the green Mini. It's worth noting that offset impact was the big issue which was improved by the FIA's "Euro NCAP" programme, so everyone involved was bloody lucky to be in modern cars. Even ten years ago, both of the drivers would have had extensive leg injuries.

frankchickens · 19/03/2018 16:30

He has just announced he's off back to rehab.

ITV have announced Saturday Night takeaway will be dropped.

frankchickens · 19/03/2018 16:30

Correction - dropped for this Sat - then back without Ant.

Figgygal · 19/03/2018 16:31

Oh cripes what about all those people who were looking forward to Florida what a shame for them!!

IanRushesInadequateFlushes · 19/03/2018 16:32

Bluelady. Even if he wasn't drunk, he was still the driver on the WRONG side of a very busy road in central London. As a consequence of his shitty driving, a little child and her mother ended up hurt; luckily not badly.

Presumably you think it's ok to career around a corner on the wrong side of the road, so long as the FACTS are that you hadn't been charged with drink driving??

Figgygal · 19/03/2018 16:32

I'm glad he's getting help

TopBitchoftheWitches · 19/03/2018 16:32

Sky news notification that Ant is stepping down from TV commitments to seek treatment?

retirednow · 19/03/2018 16:32

That is the end of the show then, whose arranged and paying for the rehab.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 19/03/2018 16:33

They can't just drop SNT surely?
Someone else could present it, as PP said Stephen Mulhern.

BerkInBag · 19/03/2018 16:34

ITV have announced Saturday Night takeaway will be dropped

Yay!!!!!

Correction - dropped for this Sat - then back

Boooooo

Shinycat · 19/03/2018 16:34

No-one wants to see SNT presented by ANYone except Ant and Dec.

Masterbuilders · 19/03/2018 16:34

Which is why I said if he’s charged. Which is usually within 24 hours, it’s not always straight away. They need to be confident they are sober or may have other investigations to make. Say dangerous driving. It’s no good wittering on about innocent until proven guilty. If a charge does happen and because he was over. That’s that. All a solicitor can do is negotiate a sentence.

As a serious accident has occurred, it maybe that there is more to it than a standard just charge.

IanRushesInadequateFlushes · 19/03/2018 16:35

He also bumped his massive Range Rover into a tree in Richmond a few weeks ago, I remember reading. No suggestion he was drunk there, but it's not necessarily a great indicator of his competence/mental clarity for driving, if he's had two bumps in two cars in a month. I managed to drive around that part of swest London for over 20 years, and never once span off a roundabout into 2 other cars or into a tree!

(he was also not that far from where Marc Bolan had his fatal crash into a tree - that's an eerie little spot, fans still cover it in flowers, pics etc)

raisedbyguineapigs · 19/03/2018 16:36

manic I think you're right. They poach talent from the BBC and other places or keep people where they are by paying huge golden handcuff deals, then they cant afford to pay for a broader range of talent, so rely on a small pool of people to do everything. Its quite boring, but they can't be bothered to nurture new talent themselves.

RunMummyRun68 · 19/03/2018 16:37

re-hab? has he not been there before? not too sure it works for everyone...

ManicUnicorn · 19/03/2018 16:38

I don't mean to sound flippant, but I hope those people still get to have their holiday in Florida.

The80sweregreat · 19/03/2018 16:39

I hate Takeaway - I won’t be upset if it never comes back tbh.
I bet they will just put a Bond movie on instead!

ManicUnicorn · 19/03/2018 16:41

Maybe Graham Norton will actually win that NTA now? Sorry, flippant I know.

SanFranBear · 19/03/2018 16:41

I know he's not been charged but...

Heading to rehab - that's not exactly the response if it was a lapse in attention or tricky road conditions. That's the response when it's the fault of your addictions.

ManicUnicorn · 19/03/2018 16:42

No 80's, it will probably be a Harry Potter film for the nine millionth time (and I like Harry Potter).
