What a stupid boy. Worth 60 million and doesn’t get a taxi. I just don’t know how he’ll come back from this latest fiasco (drink drive car crash hits 3 year old).

He has already been in regab for alcohol/addition to painkillers.

Clearly that didn’t help him the twat

letsdolunch321 · 19/03/2018 14:45

Rehab

CuboidalSlipshoddy · 19/03/2018 14:48

Regab is apt.

At least when Eric Clapton and Keith Richards were junkies they made some great records. Heroin and a recording studio and you get 461 Ocean Boulevard and Exile on Main Street.

Someone, a load of cheap painkillers and an ITV LE programme aren't quite the same, are they?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 19/03/2018 14:48

The police held him for 10 hours. If he wasn't much over the limit then he would be completely sober when released anyway assuming metabolising 1 unit an hour.

CoolCarrie · 19/03/2018 14:51

It will be Dec and Scarlett on Saturday I bet, itv seem to think we love those “down to earth, salt of the earth” types on tv all the bloody time!

WinonaIsHot · 19/03/2018 14:56

Oh God please no.

CoolCarrie · 19/03/2018 15:00

ITV have modeled them on Morecombe and Wise, which they certainly aren’t, anyway The Two Ronnies were better by a long chalk!

CuboidalSlipshoddy · 19/03/2018 15:01

ITV know what their audience want. Complaining about that seems to rather miss the point.

MissEliza · 19/03/2018 15:01

Someone on Twitter said that This Morning ran a poll last week about whether Jamie Carragher should resign and will they be doing the same for Ant? Not bloody likely.

Shinycat · 19/03/2018 15:02

OH GOD NO, not Scarlett!

Her voice goes right through me, she is shit at presenting, and she has ZERO talent. She was OK on goggle box, but not on SNT

Nicknacky · 19/03/2018 15:06

I think Stephen Mulhern is the obvious temp replacement? On the show already and is an experienced presenter.

Please god don’t let it be Shouty Scarlett.

Bundlesmads · 19/03/2018 15:06

After he was in rehab he said he was only taking a break from drinking and was very clear he’d be drinking again. I said to my DH at the time I thought that was a bad idea because I thought he had a problem. He always had that puffy, pasty, bloated alcoholic face with piggy little eyes I’m a swollen face. Every single pap pick of him and his wife they were always drinking. I think he has a real problem and blaming his issues purely on painkillers was a bit of a deflection from the real problem (booze).

NewYearNewMe18 · 19/03/2018 15:14

All the people defending drink drivers

No one, that I have read, on this thread, has defended drink drivers, quite the reverse. What the saner participants have said time and time again is that facts are crucial. He hasn't been charged (yet), that may or may not happen of course , depending on whether he actually was drunk. He may or may not have been intoxicated.

I completely echo this poster Bluelady Mon 19-Mar-18 13:51:23
The law in this country is quite clear that a person is innocent until proved guilty. It's not nonsense. It's the way our legal system works. If you don't like it move to France where the reverse is true.

People always seem to want to change the law for their own ends. Especially if they don't like the person involved. Our legal system doesn't work like that, thankfully.

Hi all,
We are receiving several reports about this thread. We do understand the urge to an incident involving such a well-known man, but it will be a lot easier to keep the thread up if we stay within the bounds of what is known to be true. Thanks.

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 19/03/2018 15:19

Also. No sullying the name of Phil Schofe. Not acceptable.

Estrelizia · 19/03/2018 15:22

I think the norm for this this sort of event in this country and US is to go on breakfast tv and do a weepy "my drink/drugs/sex hell" (insert appropriate addiction) and say things like how difficult the work pressures have been etc etc ,give a similar schmaltzy interview to a tame national paper eg The Sun to prove what a decent working classs bloke made good you were before you went off the rails and then offer to do a charity gig in aid of childrens charities / cancer charities (insert as appropriate) then leave a decent interval to elapse before reappearing in public as if nothing had happened -until the next time you are caught .I feel sorry for his exwife but she seems to be better off out of it , Dec -but he can always pick up another presenting job anyway ,and the other family that were involved in the incident. Oh and his PR people who are certainly earning their money at the moment

The description of the accident doesn't look good for him. Seems he lost control on a mini roundabout and then ended up going round a steep corner on the wrong side of the road, at which point he hit the car with the little girl and then a second car.

If you know lower richmond road/east sheen, as I do very well, it'd actually be quite hard to get up any speed there at all, given the sheer volume of traffic! I think it's also got to be a stretch to say it was icy/snowy by 4pm. Again, the sheer volume of traffic driving on the busy roads around there blasts away any snow before it sticks.

AlistairAppletonssexyscarf · 19/03/2018 15:38

his wife trying to take him for everything

Where on earth have you got this from? Nonsense in the tabloids based on the fact that, in a very high value divorce, she's hired experienced solicitors? She'd be a fool not to. This just sounds like part of the PR campaign to make Ant's wife look like a baddie.

The80sweregreat · 19/03/2018 15:46

I agree with Estrelizia that he will end up on This morning with an exclusive and most of the TV people will lap it up - he may go to the sun too - ( although i think thats already been done, but no harm in giving it another go!) Ifeel sorry for the ordinary people caught up in all this, they will just have to get on with it.
i dont dislike him by the way, i do think its sad, but somebody needs to have a word with him and tell him enough is enough. putting other people at risk isn't right. He clearly has issues that need immediate help.

Ant looked out of it on TV during the celebration show, at the time Dec looked very nervous and ill at ease.

I don't think he was ready to come back. needed much more time, too late now.*

^Agreed^
He seemed very out of it at an awards show recently and Dec did most of the talking while Ant looked wild eyed and vacant. I think he was put under pressure to be back on time for IACGMOOH.
