Apart from house

I would say my laptop cost £800 so probably that.

Possibly tickets to see the entire Ring cycle at the Royal Opera with my parents later this year. Never seen the whole thing and this may be my only chance to see it with my parents.

Our kitchen came in at about £26k - ridiculously I'm still smarting we didn't have crazy pots of money to get the worktop and floor we wanted. Even spending that sort of money I feel we had to compromise.

Realistically it's going to cost us another £20k (or ideally £30k) to finish off the house. I absolutely love it, I just wish I could win lotto and finish it off quickly without having to worry about cash.

It's all savings, no loans.

I do know how lucky I am really, honest!

House, Degrees, Car (still repaying)

Sofas (£1300)

Houses (Rental properties + own home)
School Fees
Holiday home in DH's country
Tickets for the London Olympics

A combination of getting on the property ladder years ago in London before prices got stupid and a well paying job

Couple of expensive watches. One worth 6k and the other about 5k. . So 11k on those

People think it's lunacy to spend that much on a couple of watches. But people wouldn't bat an eyelid if I told them I'd just spent 11k on a car and £50 on a couple of Casio's. I just prefer to spend a minimal amount on a car, suffer zero depreciation, and instead buy watches that I wear all the time and can sell for the same amount I bought them, (or indeed more, for the Rolex), if need be. Makes sense to me.

My pram Shock £1200ish but will be my house which we are buying next year

midnightmisssuki · 19/03/2018 12:55

Probably private schooling for two children. I have a few expensive handbags, a few expensive shoes and a watch.

MaidenMotherCrone · 19/03/2018 12:59

For cash.... my kitchen 15k then my car £10k.

knowwhereyourheadis · 19/03/2018 13:00

House, car, new windows, sofa.

After that something like TV, laptop or washing machine.

DrunkenUnicorn · 19/03/2018 13:07

On reflection I’ve realised almost all of my big purchases have been horse related Blush

Biggest is £24k on a horsebox. V extravagant but hopefully will get about 19k back when we sell in 12/18m time, they don’t depreciate as quickly as cars.

My saddle £750

Pony club camp for Ds1 £400 every summer.

General running costs of horse.

Out bed- super king size with really good mattress £2k in the sale. I was v reluctant at the time and DH insisted so I muttered and went along with it. It’s so good and was worth every penny. Unfortunately mattress is now nearly 9 years old and starting to go Sad

Keilninnock · 19/03/2018 13:21

Car, recent investment apartment then watch. My car was quite a lot but I will keep it forever and it will live longer than me I imagine. I am 44.

YoloSwaggins · 19/03/2018 14:06

Erm....I'm only 24, so the single most expensive thing I've bought with my own money was probably £850 for flights to Taiwan. Great holiday though.

I don't have a car or house, saving for a wedding then house atm. I'm a proper scrimper APART from exotic holidays.

Boffin90 · 19/03/2018 19:22

If it’s not allowed to be houses then has to be our supercars combined amount of £340000.

It’s heartbreaking to read about the IVF and no baby.
Big hugs to you. Xx

HelloHouse · 19/03/2018 21:50

2k on a YSL handbag for my 30th Grin

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 19/03/2018 21:52

I'd love to know what kind of cars - massive car fan - but I guess that might be outing.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 20/03/2018 21:44

Most recent big purchase item was my Thermomix. I get so much use from it, I love it!!!

FluffyWuffy100 · 20/03/2018 21:57

Excluding house and car.

Holidays!

For material things, probably sports equipment costing £4k

BadLad · 21/03/2018 03:26

Lamborghini and Aston Martin

Nice.

If I see them parked anywhere, I'll probably take a picture. I love seeing supercars.

yerbutnobut · 21/03/2018 07:51

Kitchen £13k.

Crazmas · 21/03/2018 10:24

Handbag £1k

Jins · 21/03/2018 10:32

The caravan has saved us ££££ in holiday costs and has more than paid for itself. The cooker not so much
