Apart from house

I would say my laptop cost £800 so probably that.

My bugaboo donkey and my MacBook .

tomhazard · 18/03/2018 18:28

Wedding. Kitchen. Both about 8k

CatchIt · 18/03/2018 18:37

My horses:
Dhorse 1 - 5k (sold him)

Dhorse 2 - 3.5k (died)

Dhorse 3 - 3k (insurance wouldn't pay for no 2)

And the upkeep. I love her though even when she can be a witch!

jellyshoeswithdiamonds · 18/03/2018 18:59

After the houses.

My car, then Dh's car.

Then renting for Dh in London.

Dh wanted to treat me and the kids to a week on the Amalfi coast (2.5k for the accommodation, flights for 6 of us 1k). He's going to add on hotel at airport and parking just for an easy life.

It's only money.

Babababababybel14 · 18/03/2018 19:21

Sofa for 1200, which seems nothing compared to everyone else

Greyhorses · 18/03/2018 19:23

My car is number one.

My horse cost £1500, the same again in stuff, £2000 for a horsebox then £200 per month upkeep.

Following that probably the dogs!

elliejjtiny · 18/03/2018 19:27

Car. Can't remember what it cost, about 6k I think in 2009. The only new car we've ever had and we finally paid off the loan for it last year. Next highest was £800 for car insurance for our first old banger which was more than the car was worth. £500 each for various old corsa's, fiesta's etc that lasted a year each and then £450 for my engagement ring and £370 for my wedding dress.

AgnesBrownsCat · 18/03/2018 19:27

We paid cash for a house . That’s my biggest purchase .

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 18/03/2018 19:30

Musical instruments.

Most expensive was £6000.

Others at about £2500.

MaudesMum · 18/03/2018 19:33

My most expensive house project was £9,000 - that created a lovely shower room, wardrobes and storage and stopped various ceilings crumbling. After that, I spent about £3.5k on a holiday in Africa at Christmas 5 years ago. In my defence, it was paid for out of an inheritance, and was after a few shitty years with terminally ill parents, but still a lot of money for me...

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 18/03/2018 19:34

@LynetteScavo We went to Canada, several Caribbean islands including Cuba, Mexico, Guatemala and Belize but it was very much backpacking in the loosest sense of the word, i.e. we had backpacks but hired cars (for example we drove from Cancun all the way across Mexico to Puerto Vallarta and back via Mexico City) for virtually all 10 months apart from the smaller islands and whilst our accommodation varied massively it did feature some rather nice 5 star hotels.

EggysMom · 18/03/2018 19:38

Excluding the house (of which the bank still own a majority share) and the car (not ours, belongs to Motability) ...

DH's Mac computer which sits upstairs gathering dust while he uses a secondhand laptop

Parker231 · 18/03/2018 19:39

Easy one - DT’s schooling and now Uni fees, accommodation and living expenses.

DuckBilledAardvark · 18/03/2018 19:42

Value wise: My car, it cost £17k (and it was several years old, but it's pure luxury and fast!)

Pound for pound: A Rolex

AlmostAJillSandwich · 18/03/2018 19:54

I contributed my whole £2100 personal injury settlement towards our next family car after an accident, would be the most expensive thing i've ever Co bought.

As for personal, it would be a toss up between my laptop (i dont remember how much it was but i think somewhere between £250-300) one of my games consoles (ps3 a good few years back then a ps4, both were about £250 at the respective times) but the one which seems the most expensive based on actual function would be my headset for said consoles, which was also £250 but it the top of the range named wireless one, and after almost 5 years is still going!

Unless you count the money i spent on scumbag ex's, which to me is a waste of over £1000 over 2 1/2 years on ex1, and then another £600ish over 6 years on ex2. I did kind of learn my lesson in not buying big expensive presents, and so ex2 was just birthdays, christmases, and the occasional dominos pizza (just for him not shared, it was sent to him where he lived) although, at least ex1 did buy me birthday and christmas presents, albeit cheap or useless ones he already knew i didn't want (honestly think it was intentional) where as ex2 never bought me so much as a birthday card, ever.

IHaveACuntingPlan · 18/03/2018 19:57

I haven't bought a house so that doesn't apply to me anyway Grin but, apart from the car and all the usual household appliances, the most expensive thing I've bought is my camera, lenses and equipment. After that it was my laptop but that wasn't that expensive as it's a mid-range model.

My handbag collection

Loonoon · 18/03/2018 20:16

Excluding house and car - diamond ear studs. I started off with tiny little chips that cost about £200 30 years and over the years have gradually traded them in for bigger, better quality stones. I think I've stopped now. The current ones cost nearly £6k and they are beautiful.
