Apart from house

I would say my laptop cost £800 so probably that.

OP posts:

nursery fees (about £50k for 2 DC ) then car (£11k). no holiday or other luxuries in our lives though.

Appuskidu · 18/03/2018 20:23

Aside from the house, extension and car it would be a MacBook then engagement and eternity rings.

KnitFastDieWarm · 18/03/2018 21:50

MacBook £800
Trip around America £3000 ish
Trip to Vietnam £1200 ish
Coat - only £200 but by far the most expensive item of clothing I’ve ever bought. Works out at pennies per wear though.

Children

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 18/03/2018 21:58

Car
Trailer
Horse 2
Horse 1
Horse 3
Horse 4
[various saddles and such]
Dog 2
Dog 1

But actually, all the horses add up to less than a pair of earrings apparently, so it's not as bad as it sounds! Unless we count dog 3 who was monetarily cheap, but has cost my sanity and blackened my soul...

MyKingdomForACaramel · 18/03/2018 21:58

Other than my house - my car (20k) but then I’m oddly cheap with other things - my sofa for example is designer but bought second hand - in fact can’t think of a piece of furnitire I’ve paid over £200 for, and my clothes are usually not more than £50x do also spend on holidays though

MsSquiz · 18/03/2018 21:59

My wedding dress last year - £1500
Jimmy Choo custom made clutch bag -£1250 (for the wedding)
Jimmy Choo custom made shoes - £450 (to match the clutch)

MidniteScribbler · 18/03/2018 22:02

House, holiday house, degrees, car.

Most expensive 'want' rather than 'need' would be importing a dog (about 15k).

WetsTheVet · 18/03/2018 22:05

I just last week bought a racehorse for approx 300k. I got a call from his trainer last night to inform me he had hit his face on a door and cut his lip, and had later cut himself up the nose with a sharp piece of hay Hmm. He is already being called 'clumsy clive' by the stable staff. I can feel several hernias bubbling beneath the surface already.

BadLad · 18/03/2018 22:07

After houses, cars and holidays:

£5,000 on a watch
£4,000 on my train pass (every three months)
£2,000 on my coat

bluebell1981 · 18/03/2018 22:13

Car, wedding (though lots of separate purchases), degree....

beboldbebluntbehonest · 18/03/2018 22:18

Not me personally but a close family member has recently just spent £250000 on a yacht...cash!
I nearly fainted...my car was only £16000 and tbh that's very expensive to me so I really did feel faint when I saw the yacht and how much it cost. I'm soooo jealous as well Grin

MyLoveIsAPrickOnATudorRose · 18/03/2018 22:29

Rehab. It wiped out nigh-on every last drop of my £10,000 savings and I'm so grateful. Worth every life-saving penny Smile

marriednotdead · 18/03/2018 22:30

My life purchases are comparatively low budget in line with my earnings.
My divorce cost me around £1k and was worth every penny Grin

CauliflowerBalti · 18/03/2018 22:31

Car. Which is boring.

I bought myself a £750 watch with a bonus once. That’s my most extravagant purchase just for me, just because.

chandlersfraud · 18/03/2018 22:35

House
Car
Piano
Fridge freezer
Sofa

India1819 · 18/03/2018 22:50

House
Wedding
Degree (still repaying)
Honeymoon
Safari
Holidays
Handbags / purses (only mulberry / miu miu tho, PP with a Chanel...I would love love one!)

In that order. I’ve spent on cars before but get one through work now. Most of our money goes on holidays at the moment. That will change when we (hopefully) conceive I’m sure but moto is memories over stuff for us :)

notacooldad · 18/03/2018 22:52

After the usual house and improvements, car , holidays and kids I think it's probably my mountain bike which was just short if £5,000.

yoyo1234 · 18/03/2018 23:02

School fees

Cantspell2 · 18/03/2018 23:09

Apart from my house and various renovations to it I would have to say my husbands funeral. Could have been done cheaper but as it was the last thing I could do for him I wanted him to have a send off that was everything he wanted including the massive piss up/wake afterwards.

AnnabelleLecter · 18/03/2018 23:26

Holiday cotttage but it's been used nearly every weekends and many weeks for years.
Holidays.

Curious2468 · 19/03/2018 01:19

House
Car
Pets - I genuinely dread to think how much they have all cost over the years but they bring me so much joy!
Range cooker - but this also brings me joy lol
Computer

Curious2468 · 19/03/2018 01:25

Chickenowner please tell me more about buying woodland. We have considered this but I'm not sure what experience is needed and what kind of upkeep and long term costs it might involve?

alternativeiew · 19/03/2018 01:56

DH bought me a 3 ounce 21 carat gold chain in 1978, (16$/ounce) and
a very nice 2.5 carat diamond ring, and a silver fruit bowl, in case any dietary experts came in.

LackOfAdhesiveDucks · 19/03/2018 01:59

In terms of single purchases: my car, Horse2, my saddle, Horse1 and my camera. The horses definitely cost the most overall. I don’t event want to think about how much I spend on them per year...
