This sitcom is just not funny

So I’ve been off work sick for nearly 2 weeks and I’ve watched everything good on TV. Now I’m trawling through looking for anything to watch and I decided to give the BBC sitcom “Mum” a go, it’s supposed to be BAFTA award winning but it’s just awful. Every episode seems to be the various members of this woman’s family come to her house, look down on her and say horrible things to her and she gives them the side eye and says “ok” and looks a bit sad.

Cathy puts up with the DS and GF because she doesn't want to rock the boat, she needs them to live there, she's not ready to be alone.

I love Mum. It's so well written and acted. Last night's made me laugh, smile and feel emotional. I try to explain it to friends who haven't seen it and they look at me like . I can see why people wouldn't get it or like it, but in my opinion it's utterly brilliant.

Also love Detectorist's and just started watching This Country, which I think is genius.

Just goes to show how personal comedy is. I loved Catastrophe, Fleabag, Motherland, Dectectorists and Mum. I've watched (on the recommendation of this thread) Damned and Derry Girls and I'm afraid I barely laughed at either and wouldn't go out of my way to watch any new episodes!

I loved the Detectorists. It's so inoffensive and gentle.

Loved last nights episode of Mum. Made me cry.

Try The Walking Dead! 😊 I love it.

Can't make my mind up about Mum but the one I really can't make head nor tail of is the new one with John Cleese - something about sunset! Just not funny at all even with all the good actors in it.
