The OP was offended and/ or expected other posters to be offended

Well, I suppose it depends on how you tend to commonly construe 'being offended.' I think if someone says that they're not offended, that should be taken at face value.

I don't feel at all offended by it, but I can see why it might be a reasonable topic of debate within wider feminist issues.

Arealhumanbeing · 15/03/2018 22:48

I love these threads. Nice one, OP.

Mainly entertained by those who think they get to decide what is and isn’t an issue. Do you ever read anything? Why can’t you grasp the basics of this stuff?

As for the rest of it? I would love to spend half an hour inside some of your heads.

Grin

People can decide for themselves what is and isn't an issue for them. It would be odd for anyone to suggest that women's status and portrayal in the media and so on isn't an issue for everyone. Whether this particular subject is or isn't part of that wider picture is potentially an interesting debate.

No-one is forcing anyone to recognise anything as an issue, merely to respect their right to give an opinion without being insulted.

DioneTheDiabolist · 15/03/2018 23:24

I'm offended that the OP didn't stipulate her AIBU and then said she couldn't be arsed explaining it.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 15/03/2018 23:26

I'm offended that the OP didn't stipulate her AIBU and then said she couldn't be arsed explaining it.

Ah, that's fair enough Grin

Well we shouldn't need to tell you that song lyrics from Annie are not an issue, but there you go!

sidewayswithatescotrolley · 15/03/2018 23:31

Why can't you, is a better question. It's not that hard, musicals aren't exactly difficult to understand.

BertrandRussell · 15/03/2018 23:37

“She was no ruder than anyone else. No ruder than you, for sure!”

Show me where I was rude, please. I used the term “professionally offended”- which I suppose is a bit rude. But only after multiple “professionally offended” posts.

Arealhumanbeing · 15/03/2018 23:38

’Anyone who finds this offensive needs to get a life and grow up. It’s a line from an Annie song. A popular, well known musical.

Even if it wasn’t, there’s nothing remotely offensive about it at all unless you’re an over sensitive snowflake with nothing better to do with your life than complain about ridiculous things.’

@SheGotBetteDavisEyes Absolutely. It would be terrible to lay down the law on this matter and then insult people.

sidewayswithatescotrolley · 15/03/2018 23:38

in your opinion they were. You were rude, you know that since you were trying to be rude.

Arealhumanbeing · 15/03/2018 23:43

@sidewayswithatescotrolley

Sshhhh. It’s getting late and you are way too excited.

sidewayswithatescotrolley · 15/03/2018 23:44

you flatter yourself, you're not that exciting,

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 15/03/2018 23:45

Absolutely. It would be terrible to lay down the law on this matter and then insult people

Confused okay, we agree then on that then, I guess..?

AjasLipstick · 15/03/2018 23:48

All those defending it....have they got a version for boys? Of course a boy COULD wear the girl's version but given that clothing is segregated in shops like Next, that's unlikely.

BertrandRussell · 15/03/2018 23:48

“You were rude, you know that since you were trying to be rude.”

Actually, no I wasn’t. I don’t think anyone on the “this is an issue that we think is worth talking about” side has been rude. The “nothing to see here” side, however...........

sidewayswithatescotrolley · 15/03/2018 23:50

All those defending it....have they got a version for boys

There is ONLY a version for boys to be found. It doesn't seem to exist for girls at all.

Odd really that we are saying a non existent tshirt isn't an issue, isn't it?

Azra12 · 15/03/2018 23:59

Love this!!

AlexanderHamilton · 16/03/2018 00:04

Cani hi-jack the thread to tell all you Musical slogan fans that Redbubble website is brilliant for t shirts & hoodies

Ds has t shirts with Guns & Ships (Hamilton) & Sieze The Day (Newsies) on & Dd has Who Lives Who Dies Who Tells your story. (Hamilton) She also has a bag with You Know Who Tells Me No - Nobody on. (Bandstand)

AlexanderHamilton · 16/03/2018 00:07

Anyway - isn’t it Tessie who sings that song. And the clue is in the pronoun “You”. You’re Never Fully Dressed not I’m Never fully dressed. So the wearer is telling someone else.

Lickedthespoon · 16/03/2018 01:39

I genuinely think some of you need to take a deep breath and smile. Honestly, try it. Feel joy reach the muscles in your face and let it out. It’s a phenomenon isn’t it!

DioneTheDiabolist · 16/03/2018 01:52

Nope. Still huffing.Envy

With my arms folded. So there.

browneyes77 · 16/03/2018 02:47

I know it's your opinion and you're of course entitled to it. But why be so rude about it?

Well the OP posed a question and when people disagreed or didn’t understand why she had got so offended by a t-shirt the attitude was “well if you don’t understand I can’t be arsed to explain it to you”. Which I found rude, so my response was based on the OP’s attitude.

browneyes77 · 16/03/2018 03:29

She was no ruder than anyone else. No ruder than you, for sure!

Thank you. I don’t see how I’ve been any more ‘rude’ than others who’ve stated their opinion.

LolitaLempicka · 16/03/2018 03:59

LardLizard is acting like an absolute massive cunt, getting us all riled up about a terrible slogan t-shirt but not telling us why...... fucksake.

MyFavouriteChameleon · 16/03/2018 06:35

For thise asking if theres a boys one, fomr another store...Men's smile related t shirt.

This also refers to boys, which in this context could be seen as patronising, or inappropriate to the wearer...
...or like the Annie one, its just a t shirt with a fun slogan from a film!
