I wish I knew why some people get so worked up about not thinking that a t shirt slogan could be an issue, however minor. Why do you take such pleasure in mocking and deriding those of us that do?

Elendon · 15/03/2018 19:09

'Slack balls'

How is that as a slogan for all your middle aged husbands?

Mind you they can always keep smiling.

Garofbalaxy · 15/03/2018 19:12

I saw one in the boys section of m&co that had SUPERIOR plastered over the front of it. Found it offensive on quite a few levels.

Carriecakes80 · 15/03/2018 19:36

Ahhhhh the lovely whinging sisters! sorry, I meant Boylan Sisters!

Its from a bloody musical lol. Oh to have the kind of life where this crapola is a 'topic' nope, in fact, keep it! lol

It's not an issue though, as the issue you're so worked up about isn't actually a thing,as it seems to not even be on the tshirt you think it is in the first place!

Littlechocola · 15/03/2018 19:41

You are funny op

CadyHeron · 15/03/2018 19:41

Confused Have you missed a quote as to what that's referencing? As if not it seems pretty WTF if so Grin

"It's not an issue though, as the issue you're so worked up about isn't actually a thing,as it seems to not even be on the tshirt you think it is in the first place!"

  1. I'm not even remotely "worked up"
  2. I've said several times that I know this is a hypothetical T shirt Grin but that it is representative of a load of T shirts available for girls and that the subject is an interesting one and worth discussing.
browneyes77 · 15/03/2018 20:07

If some people can’t see why this offends others, I can’t be arsed to explain it to you !

You don’t need to explain anything (because you can’t).

Anyone who finds this offensive needs to get a life and grow up. It’s a line from an Annie song. A popular, well known musical.

Even if it wasn’t, there’s nothing remotely offensive about it at all unless you’re an over sensitive snowflake with nothing better to do with your life than complain about ridiculous things.

I was in Annie at my local theatre in my younger stage days (loved playing Pepper!) and I would love this t-Shirt. Would bring back fond memories Smile

ArtieMae · 15/03/2018 20:21

It’s a line from a well known song. If you don’t like the sentiment don’t buy it. What’s the big deal? Personally like the message myself.

That helped the debate along nicely.

One day I'll stamp on their freckles, one day I'll straighten their curls....
🎵🎵🎵🎵
Wrong song, but it would make a far worse T-shirt which would offend lots of people.

Booboo66 · 15/03/2018 20:37

I’d like a link for this t shirt please, both DD 5 and 8 are currently obsessed with Annie and would adore it!

DioneTheDiabolist · 15/03/2018 20:38

I never said it was current stock did i!!! If some people can’t see why this offends others, I can’t be arsed to explain it to you !

You've all misunderstood. The OP is offended because it's not in stock.

browneyes77 · 15/03/2018 21:39

This isn’t something worth debating. So I just stated my opinion.

I just get fed up of seeing people seemingly getting ‘offended’ over nothing. It’s ludicrous.

It’s just a t-shirt with a song lyric on from a popular children’s musical. If a person finds some twisted meaning in it, it says more about them really.

lolalola19 · 15/03/2018 22:00

Another 'not an issue' here - people are far too precious these days!

Yup. I usually like to debate but this thread just makes me want to roll roll eyes and go all "whatevs!" lol Grin

BertrandRussell · 15/03/2018 22:28

browneyes77 I know it's your opinion and you're of course entitled to it. But why be so rude about it?

sidewayswithatescotrolley · 15/03/2018 22:30

She was no ruder than anyone else. No ruder than you, for sure!

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 15/03/2018 22:38

You might not think there is anything 'worth debating' but other people do. You actually called people 'offended' (no-one is really, that's not the point. Again) and 'snowflakes,' which is right up there with 'pearl-clutching' for a tired ol' put down.

If a person finds some twisted meaning in it, it says more about them really

Eh? Twisted meaning? What is 'twisted' about it?

I'm on the fence with this t shirt, but there's some intelligent posters making some good points about the wider point - the insidious nature of how women are portrayed and depicted.

Naturally, they get 'snowflake,' 'pearl-clutcher,' 'precious' and all manner of insults thrown at them for simply trying to calmly debate the point. Thank God for people who are prepared to do so, frankly.

Thread-wide, the slightly witless name-calling is not pleasant or constructive. But it will carry on for another few pages, I expect.
