Family get-together this weekend
My parents have found out that my faux-brother-law (they’re not married) is heavily in debt - 40k

They have a beautiful little son. He’s nearly 2.

Their own relationship is shite. No joint account he has Good job always skint

Thank you river 💖

You realise that 40k debt is what students are leaving uni with! If he can afford the repayments what's the issue? It's certainly none of your business or your parent's unless of course he starts stealing money from you all.

Justgivemesomepeace · 13/03/2018 22:09

Did Sharon have the wasp on the windowsill?

FlibbertyGiblets · 13/03/2018 22:09

So let me try. Ready?

Your sister cohabits with a bloke. Let's call him Bill.

Bill's sister Bernadette has disclosed to your parents that Bill has large debts. Your sister doesn't know yet about the debt.

Yes so far?

MollyWantsACracker · 13/03/2018 22:10

I know 100% when he has a great job and is borrowing money for taxis and dinners off my Dad.

BookAngel · 13/03/2018 22:10

Still don't know who Sharon is. Is it a TV based joke?? Help me out here as this post is frying my brain.

JustHereForThePooStories · 13/03/2018 22:10

Bill the Bogus BIL

FlibbertyGiblets · 13/03/2018 22:11

Wait so Bernadette is married to another sibling of yours?

Tistheseason17 · 13/03/2018 22:11

Bloody hilarious thread! 🤣🤣🤣
Just tell your sister..... discretely. I bet she already knows!

PutUpWithRain · 13/03/2018 22:11

OP, go to bed. As funny as some of the comments on here have been, you will wake up with The Absolute Horrors tomorrow, and this thread will make you pull your top over your head when you reread it (we've all been there) Wink

FlibbertyGiblets · 13/03/2018 22:12

Bernadette threw all her bills on the fire

DalekDalekDalek · 13/03/2018 22:12

borrowing money for taxis and dinners off my Dad.

That is irrelevant and is none of your business. If your dad doesn't want to lend him that money then he needs to say no.

AnyFucker · 13/03/2018 22:12

Could you ask that parrot on your shoulder to decipher this for us ?

Sprinklesinmyelbow · 13/03/2018 22:13

I think OP wants to have a big family mardy at The weekend about it.

My BF just borrowed £40k for home improvements. It has literally never occurred to me to break down to her mummy and daddy and tell all. Who cares? Loads of people borrow that sort of money. What’s the actual problem?

Labradoodliedoodoo · 13/03/2018 22:13

Tell him he has one week to come clean and tell your sister or you tell her

TathitiPete · 13/03/2018 22:13

Can I buy a vowel? Confused

Shock Is that the answer? Did faux bil get into such heavy debt because he had to buy so many vowels?

MissMary0fSweden · 13/03/2018 22:14

What even are english though?

My head hurts and I think I just pee'd my pants a little from laughing

ItsBeenAHellofaDay · 13/03/2018 22:15

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinWine I love you OP :)

I've had a shit day and this thread has had me in stitches for ages!!!! (Sorry as I do appreciate you genuinely probably could do with some advice, but you have genuinely helped me cheer up tonight :) )

ComedyBoobs · 13/03/2018 22:18

It's all very cryptic....
Message your sister & ask if she knows her boyfriend is in debt?

Baubles22 · 13/03/2018 22:18

If the idea is to bring this up at a family gathering that is not appropriate. I can’t see that ending well. I also think it is not anyone’s business

scrivette · 13/03/2018 22:18

Reads thread.
Wonders if I changed when I became a real SIL not a faux one.
Backs slowly out of thread.

BookAngel · 13/03/2018 22:19

Omg thank you. I now have wet the bed with a full on piss flood laughing at that. I'm new to Mumsnet but enjoying it very much as don't get out much 😂

Gazelda · 13/03/2018 22:20

If I were your DSis, I'd be mightily pissed off if I
A) knew that you referred to my long term partner and father of my son as 'faux' BIL
B) were gossiping about my partner amongst other family members
C) were keeping this a secret from me. (Although it is possible that your sis already knows).
