AIBU or are we all going to be trapped in the UK from next March?

So, Ryanair and Thomas Cook are inserting clauses in their booking terms to say that if your flight abroad doesn't go ahead because of Brexit that's your problem. No doubt others will follow. If any deal is ever done, to allow planes to fly, it is bound to be a lot more expensive than it is now.

Is everyone planning many years of UK-only holidaying?

I wish it was, I am increasingly of the view that Gove was probably right.

Helmetbymidnight · 13/03/2018 17:41

Are flights going to be affected by Brexit?

a. Whats the matter with you? Go to Morocco instead.
b. I used to travel to Spain before the EU. Don't be stupid.
c. The Spanish and the Greek are desperate for us. They'll agree to anything.

d. You must be a hysterical Russian Bot trying to destabilize the UK. Or a journalist.
e. O'Leary is a cunt.
f. Unite behind Brexit, you feckers.

You gotta love the Brexitteers. They don't know what the fuck they're talking about, but they'll insist on giving you their opinion anyway.

Helmet, I love you. This thread reminds me of Father Ted trying to explain things to Dougal.

SleepFreeZone · 13/03/2018 17:46

Helmet you’re missing out on another excellent Brexit thread where people are starting to stockpile tinned bread.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 13/03/2018 17:47

If the EU have control of all these regulations that affect the UK then the answer is for us to leave the EU as soon as possible. Otherwise they will control more and more of them. The sooner we regain our sovereignty and start controlling our own regulations the sooner we can end this blackmail to ground all UK aeroplanes.

I am astounded that we let things get this bad.

Sharperthanasharpie · 13/03/2018 17:50

Are posters making parody comments on purpose now?

frumpety · 13/03/2018 17:52

Sleep I am not entirely convinced there are any experts 'sorting this stuff out' , therein lies the problem. We appear to have stalled again in the negotiations , which would be OK , these things happen in negotiations , except there doesn't appear to be any feasible way forward. If we cant move forward , where does that leave the UK at 2301pm on the 31st of March 2019 ?

Sheasksmehowthecatsbeen · 13/03/2018 17:54

Nadine, is that you? 'It's too complicated,, I don't understand it, we should definitely leave. How dare the world put co operative systems in place? DON'T THEY KNOW WHO WE ARE?.'

SleepFreeZone · 13/03/2018 17:54

Eating tinned bread in the loft

frumpety · 13/03/2018 17:56

Sleep tinned bread you say ? I have stockpiled toilet rolls , they are currently acting as additional insulation in my loft Grin

BishopBrennansArse · 13/03/2018 17:56

It's not about the EU controlling anything but don't let that stop you with your "getting our sovereignty back" rhetoric 🙄

The Open Skies agreement was decided during the time that we were members of the EU and Brexit was nothing but a glimmer in Farage's swivelling eye.

As we will no longer be part of the EU the Open Skies agreement no longer applies. We have to re-negotiate and agree it again as an independent nation to keep our airspace open. The US has made an offer on it with shite terms compared to what we have now.

The other issue is that this kind of negotiation as well as trade negotiations won't take place until after the main terms have been agreed. These main therms negotiations have broken down due to the Irish border issue and we are rapidly running out of time with no negotiations happening at all.

Bt oh no Brexiteers blame the EU for something we've done ourselves as usual

SleepFreeZone · 13/03/2018 17:56

Yup. Tinned bread and lots of toilet roll might just buy you a gun.

Sharperthanasharpie · 13/03/2018 17:58

I’m stockpiling tin foil so I can create a large hat so that the EU can’t control me any more.

frumpety · 13/03/2018 17:58

I have a fear of ending up with only scratchy paper !

AIBU or are we all going to be trapped in the UK from next March?
BishopBrennansArse · 13/03/2018 17:59

@Chesternut unless you're going to row to Morocco in a little boat you won't. Be able to go there unless Open skies gets resolved.

BishopBrennansArse · 13/03/2018 18:01

@Mookatron in case you haven't guessed that wasn't Lake's quote. It was Michael fucking Gove.

BishopBrennansArse · 13/03/2018 18:01

@Helmetbymidnight is it ok that I agree with e? 😂

frumpety · 13/03/2018 18:02

Am also currently working out how to use the contents of the shed/cupboards/loft to make one of these

AIBU or are we all going to be trapped in the UK from next March?
BishopBrennansArse · 13/03/2018 18:05

Is that a distillery? Gimme!

Mookatron · 13/03/2018 18:05

So it was @BishopBrennansArse. Thanks. There was me thinking it was some random lunatic on the internet and not an elected official of my country. sobs

Peregrina · 13/03/2018 18:12

frumpety

There was a third option to your hot water problem

c) accept that you will only ever have cold water, and get behind this. After all millions of people in the world do only have dirty cold water as standard. Hot water on tap? Very much a first world problem Grin

Figmentofmyimagination · 13/03/2018 18:23

We (well some of us anyway) left the uk before we had planes, and I'm sure we will do so again. Get with the programme. There are canoes, sailboats, and our navy once we control the seas again etc. I don't think Scott of the Antarctic flew, for example (although his return journey was less than successful).

Figmentofmyimagination · 13/03/2018 18:24

We are proud sea-faring nation duh.

BishopBrennansArse · 13/03/2018 18:25
