AIBU or are we all going to be trapped in the UK from next March?

So, Ryanair and Thomas Cook are inserting clauses in their booking terms to say that if your flight abroad doesn't go ahead because of Brexit that's your problem. No doubt others will follow. If any deal is ever done, to allow planes to fly, it is bound to be a lot more expensive than it is now.

Is everyone planning many years of UK-only holidaying?

Oh there you go agnes

walking has come up with some alternatives for you

Confused as to where you said that we couldnt leave the eu cos olives...but probably something ive missed, like the banning of flights

Talkstotrees · 11/03/2018 20:30

The point and Walking are not terribly well acquainted.

GreenSeededGrape · 11/03/2018 20:30

I don't need anger management talks but thanks for your imbecile reply.

It is an important interesting thread that needs the mysogonistic langauge removed, which was my point you decided to derail Hmm

Why the fuck would you reply specifically to my post if you hadn't called anyone hun. And if you did well cop the fuck onto yourself.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 11/03/2018 20:32

Hysterical is deffo a no no on mumsnet and luv, hun and dear are usually taken as being snide

I doubt Theresa May and the Tories will manage to agree anything amongst themselves never mind sign an agreement with the EU on this or any other issue.

Of course, the usual idiots think all is hunky-dory....

Commuterface · 11/03/2018 20:35

And of course the epic cunt O’Leary would never use the Brexit Hyperbole to get himself a bit of free publicity? Much like the time he was going to weigh fat people before they got on his planes? and the other time he was going to charge £1 to use the toilet on his planes? Oh and the other time he was going to do away with toilets on his planes altogether?

Helmetbymidnight · 11/03/2018 20:36

The UK leaves the EU in March 2019 and ceases to be a signatory to Open Skies and about 750 other treaties that influence daily life in the UK, and which will take years to replace or re-negotiate.

Remainers have to accept that the average brexiteer on this thread does not have the wit to even begin to understand this.

They actually think it's like the millennium bug and that Boris, Davis and Jacob rees might are going to deliver the 1950s for them.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/03/2018 20:38

Regardless of what people think of Michael O’Leary he is CEO of an airline that has hundreds of routes in and out the UK. Leaving open skies is huge for the aviation industry he would negligent to ignore it.

I also take exception with a poster up thread saying O’Leary’s wants this because he is Irish. It was the British (well 37% of those eligible to vote) who caused this mess. Have some integrity and own your shit.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 11/03/2018 20:40

are a fucking lunatic though - is that allowed?

Im trying to help you here!!

No its not!

Talkstotrees · 11/03/2018 20:43

Okay, thanks Rufus. I’ll step back. No further engagement with small fruits.

TalkinPeace · 11/03/2018 20:46

@Talksotrees
tell ya what - shall we swap names and both call her hun / love and maybe even ducks for good measure
I get called FAR worse in real life so am mildly gobsmacked at folks taking offence on a semi anonymous forum

as if epithets are more important than the impact of Brexit Hmm

GreenSeededGrape · 11/03/2018 20:47

Right deep breath hate doing this but I apologise talks. I see you said what's wrong with hun not what's wrong hun as I read.

So we're all clear now on this thread words we can and can't say

Talkstotrees · 11/03/2018 20:48

Talkin, thanks hun xx

frumpety · 11/03/2018 20:49

I think if people accept that they may need a financial buffer when booking a holiday then they should be ok , so if the flight is delayed or cancelled , have enough to pay for accommodation close to the airport or port , I would expect the rack rates to go up a fair bit . Also if you are happy to accept that your holiday may be shortened as a result of delays or cancellations and that you will not be entitled to any compensation as a result of the delays and cancellations , then again you will be fine.

Personally I am not concerned as Brexit isn't actually going to happen. That and I always holiday in the UK Wink

Talkstotrees · 11/03/2018 20:49

Grape, Grin Flowers

AgnesSkinner · 11/03/2018 20:54

Turkey, Tunisia, California, Morocco or anywhere else

Yeah, but how am I going to get to these countries? It’s a bugger of a bike ride to California.

Talkstotrees · 11/03/2018 20:58

Agnes, you’re such a neghead, stop talking bicycling down! If we all pull together you can cycle across the Atlantic! Hun xx

Helmetbymidnight · 11/03/2018 20:59

"I don't like O'Leary therefore nothing he says is true."

brexitteer logic.

Clarissalarissa · 11/03/2018 21:01

frumpety - why is Brexit not going to happen? [hopeful].
As far as holidaying outside of the EU goes. First of all, we won't be able to get to these other places because of flying over EU airspace.
Assuming at some point flights are allowed to fly over the EU, it's worth bearing in mind that people who are not rich are not spoilt for choice outside of the EU. Countries like Spain are complaining about the huge influx of tourists due to concerns about the risk of terrorist attacks, in Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Turkey - so your suggestions for holiday destinations are not terribly helpful Walking. But then maybe you don't follow the news.

And back to roaming charges again, no EHIC card, so more expensive holiday insurance and I'm sure the pound will tank further should Brexit actually happen. I was reading a thread yesterday about people's holiday spends. There are obviously some very well off posters here. It's the ones who save for years to enjoy a decent break in the Med that I feel sorry for.

Brittanyspears · 11/03/2018 21:06

Todayissunny
Have you been to Spain recently? Its like going to Kent!
What next? people will be saying all Brits on the Costas will be sent packing...anyone read up on Spain's economy recently?

ilovesooty · 11/03/2018 21:09

All of Spain is like going to Kent?

TalkinPeace · 11/03/2018 21:10

Brittany
If the Brits on the Costas can no longer get their health care billed back to the NHS (which they do) they will return to the UK

If the Brits on the Costas have to have visas to live and work (as the UK is forcing on EU folks here) they will have to return to the UK

Spain's economy is doing a lot better than the UK's
