To think being blonde doesn’t automatically mean you’re attractive?

I see it on here a lot. Because someone is blonde they are automatically gorgeous.

I’m not saying any other colour is better. I’m saying that certain hair colours suit different people.

I look better as a brunette, I wasn’t as attractive when I was blonde. I’m sure others have experienced this the other way around too.

I’m just getting quite tired of the whole everything needs to be light in order for anyone to be considered pretty.

I personally think what the op is saying is right. I've noticed women with blonde hair get a lot more attention from men. I was actually walking through the town with a male friend a few months back and he spotted a girl with blonde hair and told me to wait so he could see if she was pretty or not Confused when I asked him why he replied: well she's blonde and slim so wanted to see if she had the full package Shock for the record I'm a brunette and would never change my hair colour as it suits me.

blastomama · 11/03/2018 12:50

That wasn't what the OP said though so why say you think she is right?

Nobody, ever, has said that because someone is blonde they are automatically gorgeous.

jessei · 11/03/2018 12:54

I'm agreeing with the op in thinking that blonde doesn't = attractive!

blastomama · 11/03/2018 13:04

that isn't what she said though.

Urgh, what a pig. And you're still friends?

TryptoFan · 11/03/2018 15:30

If this was said about black people it would be considered racist

Really?

If you sent a bunch of blonde supermodels to an isolated tribe and they didn't find them attractive, what then? They're racist?

VladmirsPoutine · 11/03/2018 15:37

Trypto I don't think that's the point. I think the point that was being made is if someone were to start a thread entitled: "I don't find black men attractive" there would be outrage and accusations of racism.

I personally don't buy that argument but that's a different thread. To simplify I think it would be the same as a woman starting a thread saying "I don't find transmen attractive."

You can't really force or help attraction. It's based in many interacting factors but ultimately you can't force attraction.

TryptoFan · 11/03/2018 15:41

What I was trying to say is that it's not racist. It wouldn't be racist.

You can't really force or help attraction. It's based in many interacting factors but ultimately you can't force attraction

I know this.

VladmirsPoutine · 11/03/2018 15:56

It wouldn't be - but I was assuming that you meant if someone started a thread on MN about it. In your hypothetical situation it's clearly not racist.

Woody67 · 11/03/2018 16:33

I have been blond and dark and received more "attention" when blond (despite being older when blond).

thelionthewitchandthebookcase · 11/03/2018 17:00

Are we assuming 'attention' is a positive thing ?

dayswithaY · 11/03/2018 17:34

Attention is definitely not a positive thing. I had blonde waist length hair in my twenties and was fighting off pervy attention. I think men assume certain things about blondes, they fall in love with brunettes.

hmcAsWas · 11/03/2018 17:59

"I think men assume certain things about blondes, they fall in love with brunettes".

I agree with the first part of your sentence but the second part of your sentence is utter nonsense.

TatianaLarina · 11/03/2018 18:03

On Love Island this summer, to a man the guys all pretty much fancied brunettes. The petite blonde (can’t remember her name) was very put out.

squoosh · 11/03/2018 18:04

'I think men assume certain things about blondes, they fall in love with brunettes.'

Hello there, 1952!

That's right up there with 'gentlemen never makes passes at women who wear glasses'.

hmcAsWas · 11/03/2018 18:05

Its okay - we moved onto Love Island now

LucreziaBoredYa · 11/03/2018 18:07

Bit random but there is a thing I've noticed in magazine-type articles where women lose a lot of weight then go blonde straight after as if it's the icing on the cake. Even if it dark hair suited them more. Bizzare asF.

TatianaLarina · 11/03/2018 18:08

And why not it was highly entertaining.

TatianaLarina · 11/03/2018 18:10

Holly Whilloughby suited brunette much better than blonde. I must have seen a pic of her somewhere.

Really want an edit function MN. Please.

VioletteValentia · 11/03/2018 18:14

I might be the odd one out but I think blonde and white hair are the most boring colours.

squoosh · 11/03/2018 18:15

I don't think there are 'boring' hair colours. Just as I don't think there are boring eye colours. Boring hairstyles, most definitely.

VioletteValentia · 11/03/2018 18:19

I think some colours are less striking. Blonde is safe and ordinary to me.

Some blondes really suit it, I just think it’s less striking than say, dark or red hair.

milliemolliemou · 11/03/2018 18:29

Used to be blond and really can't be bothered with this trope. Northern European children are often blond in youth and turn brown-haired - there are very few blonds who remain naturally blond. It may be a rarity attraction thing for certain people eg redheads 2 per cent of world population, ditto green eyes, and also for photographers ... but then some are now concentrating on albino and the many of the world population who have vitiligo. What's to beat a personality whatever they're wrapped up in?

VioletteValentia · 11/03/2018 18:30

Are blonde adults often dyed blondes?
