To consider indoor grass in living room?

We are seriously considering using artificial grass to carpet our living room. Are there any possible issues with this that we have not considered?

After a quick google, i think it actually looks nice inside some houses!

SandAndSea · 10/03/2018 04:25

I love this idea too! (You're not alone, OP.)

Rainbunny · 10/03/2018 05:12

The chemical off-gassing would concern me greatly.

IveGotStupidHair · 10/03/2018 07:44

I thought it was red and green that should never be seen too. But red and green is seen everywhere at Christmas.

flissfloss65 · 10/03/2018 07:55

I’d orry about health implications having it in an enclosed space.

AutumnalTed · 10/03/2018 08:02

I think if you like it and you want it then get it. Totally bonkers but it’s not boring and will make people smile and also Hmm when they come in your house Grin

WhoWants2Know · 10/03/2018 08:05

I found some bedrooms with it that look pretty cool

Go for it, who cares what anybody else thinks? There are too many magnolia houses out there.

Mintylemons · 10/03/2018 08:11

An interesting rug on the same theme.

We had it outside for the kids to play on as the surface was uneven paving and a trip hazard. It isn't as comfortable as it looks and despite me regularly looking crazy and hoovering it it was impossible to get bits out of it. Would it be fire retardant? I can't imagine having to walk over melting plastic in the event of a fire.

oohloolala · 10/03/2018 08:18

Why is everyone horrified?! If you know what you're doing op go for it, stuck with the vision! I'd love going to someone's house and seeing bright blue and grassy floor instead of grey or cream everything. It's good to be different!

DixieFlatline · 10/03/2018 08:23

WhoWants2Know

Can you imagine how daft it would look if it was a full carpet of it in that room, though? I'm also feeling very annoyed that that giant diamond shape on the wall behind the bed isn't a functioning clock.

Itsjanuary · 10/03/2018 08:23

I’m contemplating putting fake grass on the balcony the kids use... not sure I would use it inside but go for it - worse comes to worse you can change it

DixieFlatline · 10/03/2018 08:24

Also, the only place I've ever seen blue and green work together is Pizza Hut.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 10/03/2018 08:38

It will go to landfill, and I thought we were all supposed to be using less plastic these days?
Matters of relative taste aside, this and the chemical thing woukd be my biggest concern. And how flammable it is indoors.

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 10/03/2018 08:43

There's a softplay that has this inside and it kooks and feels great....but its in a softplay place.

I thought it was red and green should never be seen too!

Achoopichu · 10/03/2018 08:47

I wouldn’t - I can’t stand the stuff anyway, static, is it fire retardant, is it not spikey?

Certcert · 10/03/2018 08:47

Anything goes at Christmas! Grin

gussyfinknottle · 10/03/2018 08:55

Do it. People will laugh st you behind you back, but, do it if it suits you.

Our have to go for a very short variety or more like Astro turf I think.

Our artificial grass outside looks like grass as in longer blades and a range of green colours. I don't think we'd be able to vacuum it though as he blades would be a bit too long as you'd risk pulling some out. And they do shed a bit as it is.

To be fair it is very soft to walk on in bare feet, and feels nice.

JennyOnAPlate · 10/03/2018 09:06

I personally hate the feel of it on my feet but if you're not bothered, go for it!

I think a wood floor with an Astro turf wall would look good too as an alternative.

Firesuit · 10/03/2018 09:16

www.atrafloor.com have a few vinyl patterns that could give you wall-to-wall green foliage.

For example:-

This shows all their nature-themed offerings:-

Is your local Pizza Hut blue and green? I thought it was all red and black (sorry kind of off topic) Grin

Viviennemary · 10/03/2018 13:12

Sounds a bit unhygienic. I suppose you could carpet your garden as well.
