To consider indoor grass in living room?

We are seriously considering using artificial grass to carpet our living room. Are there any possible issues with this that we have not considered?

People do it!

Righto

In that case - yes, YABU to consider this. It would look ridiculous and be impractical and uncomfortable.

That is my opinion, and you can do whatever the heck you want, but I wouldn't expect anyone else to 'get it'.

NapQueen · 09/03/2018 21:52

Matbe you could go all garden theme

cross post

Hadn't seen the picture

Umm - my views haven't changed though - it does look weird AND stupid

Lucyccfc · 09/03/2018 21:53

You should never Hoover artificial grass that is outside. It hoovers up the sand underneath it, which is there to ensure your grass stays looking smooth. If you Hoover up the sand, over time you will end up with uneven grass.

crunchymint · 09/03/2018 21:53

Interesting to know others have done it.

Just asked dh (flooring expert)

Yes you can, there's all different levels of it, can buy it on the roll, normally rubber backed, people do

swapsicles · 09/03/2018 21:54

Maybe some vinyl flooring that has a add printed on it? Not sure if it's available but much easier to maintain!

swapsicles · 09/03/2018 21:54

Grass not add Hmm

SaucyJack · 09/03/2018 21:55

"Our reason is that we think it would look amazing with our current blue decor."

Are you Everton fans by any chance?

crunchymint · 09/03/2018 21:55

Thanks noeuf. Brilliant I won't feel stupid now phoning a company about this.

...apologies for lowering the tone, but were you ever planning to get frisky on it? Brings a whole new dimension to the idea of a carpet burn.....? 😂

crunchymint · 09/03/2018 21:56

No saucy. We like good decor that is all.

What about electric shocks? Dd's nursery had this and I got a shock nearly everyday. I wouldn't do it for that reason only.

NapQueen · 09/03/2018 21:57

Do you?

elephantoverthehill · 09/03/2018 21:57

It probably wouldn't be as insulating as carpet.

Fugitivefrombrusstice · 09/03/2018 21:58

'Good decor' 😂😂😂

NataliaOsipova · 09/03/2018 21:58

DH's contribution - you may get your kids and their mates constantly wanting to play 5-a-side football in your living room?

crunchymint · 09/03/2018 21:58

Christ Natalie I am mid fifties. Bed and comfortable places only. That is no longer an issue. Different in our younger days.

MikeWyzowski · 09/03/2018 21:58

We considered grass printed cork tiles once upon a long ago (too expensive) so I'm all for it but for the static problem and furniture marks. I like the idea!

thestickereconomy · 09/03/2018 21:58

How will you stop it being slippery underfoot, will it go with underlay?

crunchymint · 09/03/2018 21:59

Thanks mike. Hadn't considered static issues.

Bed and comfortable places only.

A lady after my own heart 😂. Just checking though....!

crunchymint · 09/03/2018 22:00

Yes we will use underlay.

I wanted to do this, but was over ruled. It's not weird it's just a floor covering.
