We are seriously considering using artificial grass to carpet our living room. Are there any possible issues with this that we have not considered?

Wouldn’t it be cold in winter?

littlemisscomper · 09/03/2018 22:00

Wow.

Well, everyone's different...

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 09/03/2018 22:01

Oh come on “good decor”?! It’s plastic grass! Stop it.

SouthWestmom · 09/03/2018 22:01

No you don't need underlay you lay it on the floor like you would a foam back carpet.

DH has now guessed im on MN.

IveGotStupidHair · 09/03/2018 22:02

You can definitely hoover it. My next door neighbour have fake grass in their garden and they’re often out there hoovering away. It took me months to realise that it was fake grass and they weren’t actually completely mental as I had first assumed.

I think it would be quite fun. There’s a sort of fairytale themed soft play near me which has a fake grass floor. It looks lovely.

crunchymint · 09/03/2018 22:04

Thanks. And thanks noeuf for understanding the attracting. Everything else in the room is tasteful but with some fun touches. Honestly this will go.

An idea for the off cuts

The shop I buy my children's shoes from has it in their play area, a very short variety. If I ever get around to it I'd love to do a small section of the children's play space at home. Asked the owner who thinks it's great, the stuff she has is easy to hover and cleaning up the odd wee accident was apparently quicker and cleaner than on carpet.

HotCrossBunFight · 09/03/2018 22:06

Can we see pictures if you go ahead?

NapQueen · 09/03/2018 22:06

Tbf it looks bloody brilliant in this kitchen.

Ooooh! Well here's what I think: go for it!

crunchymint · 09/03/2018 22:06

Nap queen, that is lovely.
I would think any photo would be really outing.

Interesting to know others have done it. people have done all sorts of things; water skied naked, worn shell suits, voted for Trump-doesn't mean it's a good idea.
Anyway as my DM used to say "blue and green should never be seen" or put that horrible stuff anywhere

viques · 09/03/2018 22:07

I would worry about chemical fumes and flammability.

NapQueen · 09/03/2018 22:07

Or you could shove it on the wall instead. Bang on trend.

I'm convinced this is a wind up

Firstimefreaked · 09/03/2018 22:08

I would love to do this if I didn't have cats! My mums cats peed on her Astro Turk in the conservatory.

LeighaJ · 09/03/2018 22:08

Each to their own. shrug

I'd guess maintenance of it indoors is pretty much the same as outdoors?

Firstimefreaked · 09/03/2018 22:09

Astro turf lol

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 09/03/2018 22:09

No, it really doesn't, Queen. Sorry.

BoeandBall · 09/03/2018 22:09

Blue and green never to be seen

crunchymint · 09/03/2018 22:10

It does look gorgeous in that kitchen. We wanted a darker green like the kitchen.
Picture real fireplace, decent wood furniture, blue fabric sofas and blue walls. A fairly bright blue on the walls.

CanIBuffalo · 09/03/2018 22:10

I love that wall but I would only have one if it were real plants.

QueenDramaLlama · 09/03/2018 22:11

A local play place has used grass indoors, it looks great and there's something that makes you feel good about it even though it's not natural.

crunchymint · 09/03/2018 22:11

Honestly this is not a wind up. We are both fed up of our totally boring light beige carpet.
