To consider indoor grass in living room?

We are seriously considering using artificial grass to carpet our living room. Are there any possible issues with this that we have not considered?

And I agree that wall with real plants is amazing.

That blue and green saying is shite because no one told cornflowers or forget me nots or scilla or bluebells etc etc

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 09/03/2018 22:13

Saucy 😂

Witchend · 09/03/2018 22:13

It would look like Teletubbyland. Grin I would want to put plastic flowers sticking out of it and say "time for tubby bye bye, time for tubby bye bye" when I came round.

Aprilmightmemynewname · 09/03/2018 22:13

Has Darius the goat moved in recently?

quizqueen · 09/03/2018 22:14

In my opinion, artificial grass looks awful outside so it will look even worse inside but it's your house to do with as you please.

crunchymint · 09/03/2018 22:14

Blue and green can look amazing. It depends on the shades. Might try and get white cushion covers with natural flowers on them to complete the look. Or that may be too much. Will run it by DP who is great at visualising how things will look.

Do you suffer from the winter blues? Is that why you are trying to recreate an indoor summer scene?

Madness. The fake grass thing is a crime against humanity anyway but inside?! Hmm

crunchymint · 09/03/2018 22:15

Witchend, we would just laugh

DH has one of he rooms at his office done in astro . It has huge glass crittal windows, modern furniture, botanical prints and is quite minimalist. It looks quirky and fun and is a nice place to have a meeting.

But if I imagine it in a living room, it feels garish, un-cosy and maybe even a bit try to hard. OP - do you what ever makes you happy, but I think you'll be sick of it 6 months down the line.

Bluelady · 09/03/2018 22:17

Bonkers.

MammaTJ · 09/03/2018 22:18

Pretty sure they used it in a child's bedroom on 60 minute makeover! It looked pretty good!

crunchymint · 09/03/2018 22:19

We are going for fun. I am sure some friends will take the piss out of us, but so what.

Imhave joked about this (sorry OP) with DH. As you walk into our local carpet shop there's a big sample book of artificial turfs so the idea kind of leaps into your brain as you go in for carpet.

How about some stunning darkish wood flooring (less vanilla than light/medium oak) and a big shaggy green rug? A nod to it without actually coating your floor in difficult-to-dust plastic?

Witchend · 09/03/2018 22:20

big sample book of artificial turfs I read this as "artificial turds".
Which might also be relevant for artificial turf if you want the realistic park effect. Grin

tolerable · 09/03/2018 22:20

is there an actual reason why?other than cos you can. I'm not against it,just curious...way back centuaries ago i was "allocated"a back and front door. (young n dumb i was ,put place up in air cos i wanted a house)we were the first people any of the crew new to get that pricey lanimate flooring. it was my second chioce.i wanted astroturf and to furnish with luxury (ha-i mean they would have had the full size cushioning)sunloungers, parasol style cheapseats table n chairs...the astroturf was way more than lanimate. its your house, you live there,do whatchu want-cos its your home.if you hate it-change it.

crunchymint · 09/03/2018 22:23

Yes quality AstroTurf is not a cheap option. But will investigate price of the stuff made for this purpose mentioned above. Honest the reason is because we think it will look good and is fun. I am not a fan of laminate personally.

oi oi oi,,forgot to say ive since updated n have amtico. i can not fault it...particularly as unlike the laminate, this hawds the dirt(it isnt dirty, but potentially could be pretty walked on before you noticed..anti white socks style...i liked it so much the only carpet i have is stairs.rest of it is amtico//karndean.

MacaroniPenguin · 09/03/2018 22:25

witchend Grin

HangtheblessedDJ · 09/03/2018 22:26

Whoa! Sorry but the pictures look awful.

Imsorrynow · 09/03/2018 22:28

Have you got a dog? Poor mutt would be mighty confused.

MacaroniPenguin · 09/03/2018 22:28

Imagine dropping a box of eggs or a pint of milk on that kitchen floor Shock

Rollonweekend · 09/03/2018 22:28

I’m feeling a bit ‘Austin Powers’ about it

crunchymint · 09/03/2018 22:29

No dog. I can see that would be a problem.

This has to be the Friday night drinking thread, surely? No one who isn't three sheets to the wind would really think this is a good idea.

And I hate laminate too.
