To consider indoor grass in living room?

We are seriously considering using artificial grass to carpet our living room. Are there any possible issues with this that we have not considered?

Seen this before in a playroom. Looked nice but not sure how it is to clean or how you know if it is clean IFSWIM

We considered artificial grass for half of the kids playroom but went for green shaggy carpet in the end as it was more comfortable and easier to keep clean (could that be an option?) , I cant imagine wanting it in the living room though.
Are you going to go for sort of outdoor furniture etc?

SouthWestmom · 09/03/2018 22:33

One 'out there' thing looks good , can't imagine op is going for gnomes and a pond as well.

crunchymint · 09/03/2018 22:35

Blue sofas. Agree that more than one thing that is out there, would look ridiculous. And as long as it looks clean that is fine. I am not a clean freak.

I like it. I wanted fake grass on my ceiling when I was a teenager, but could never find it cheap enough. I'd only have it if it felt nice underfoot and if it looked good up close. Some of the cheaper fake grass looks a bit like cheap fake Christmas trees - a bit tinselly.

OlennasWimple · 09/03/2018 22:37

I think it would look awful but infinitely better than cheap, "ash" laminate

altiara · 09/03/2018 22:41

This would have been my childhood dream! I used to only eat if I was having a picnic!!

If you’re bored of beige carpet, there are other options.

YouWereRight · 09/03/2018 22:46

I thought this was going to be about a grass/moss wall, and was all for it. But then I want to hang plants from my ceiling, and am hankering after a pink bathroom suite, so what do I know.

TheHungryDonkey · 09/03/2018 23:26

It’s actually not as comfortable as you’d think. I’ve some experience. Wouldn’t do it again.

Willyoujustbequiet · 10/03/2018 01:02

What about 3d flooring?

Some of it looks absolutely amazing.

PrinceofWales · 10/03/2018 01:15

I love the idea!

M and co usually have some lovely natural flowered cushions if you decide to get some.

Cyberllama · 10/03/2018 01:22

The static, it's awful. One of the meeting rooms at work was done up with fake grass, fields and sky on the walls and a picnic table. Looked fabulous but they had to take the grass and picnic table out after a few nasty scrapes on the table and a zillion complaints about people getting shocks. It was quite funny at the time, watching a room full of people doing their best not to be the one who opened the metal-handled door :)
Can't imagine it would be very comfortable either. Fine for an occasional room but I couldn't be doing with that in my living room.

Do it crunchy, do it!

Wingedharpy · 10/03/2018 01:35

Would it smell/give off noxious fumes when you have the heating on in winter?

HuskyMcClusky · 10/03/2018 01:41

In my opinion, artificial grass looks awful outside so it will look even worse inside

I agree. I hate it.

All the pictures on this thread look utterly naff. Just my opinion, and all that.

Thebirthdayparty · 10/03/2018 01:52

If you can't vacuum it (as per another poster who sounded knowledgeable) how do you clean it?

Anyway OP great thread. All the tv property programmes advise bringing the outside in. Surround yourself with a forest, plant flowers, have blue skies and sun everyday. Make it multifunctional. You don't have to just have grass to have green floors, by not only having green grass, could have a tennis court too!

I can't believe that kitchen is real.

*I'm all for people living how they like- but there is a line.

(And I suspect you've just snorted it.)*

Certcert · 10/03/2018 03:27

Are you going to carpet the garden?!

Certcert · 10/03/2018 03:35

"blue and green should never be seen"

I was thought it was 'red and green'?! Blush

Certcert · 10/03/2018 03:35

always*

Johnnycomelately1 · 10/03/2018 03:39

I can’t see how you clean it. Outside is ok because it rains and has drainage

Kestant · 10/03/2018 04:15

What happens to it eventually?

It will go to landfill, and I thought we were all supposed to be using less plastic these days?

macbethh · 10/03/2018 04:22

Won't it hurt your feet?

macbethh · 10/03/2018 04:23

Other than that, I think it's great that you are thinking outside the box!
