Colleague left me stranded in the snow

Work alongside a colleague, I currently have no car and have been one of the only few people to get into work with all this bad snow. Today, we got the go ahead to go home and she has dropped me off to the closest train station. There is one train showing up as running in the opposite direction, no staff here at the station and no one available to collect me.

AIBU to think she could have driven the 20 minutes to drop me home (she has a 4x4)???

BadLad · 02/03/2018 23:03

What that a different language?

Don't you speak Graffiti?

PapaLazarousWife · 02/03/2018 23:08

Personally I'd have dropped you home if at all possible pregnant or not and I think your colleague was a bit mean. However she wasn't to know your train wouldn't arrive and you didn't ask her to take you home so overall YABU.

YouGotRedOnYou · 02/03/2018 23:08

I bet your colleague is counting down the days to your maternity leave.

I waited at the train station freezing cold for an hour, then got a train to the next train station, where I waited 10 minutes luckily for another, then a 40 minute walk when I’m 30 weeks pregnant. Not great

Holy shit, hold the front pages, pregnant woman has to commute in the snow. Welcome to the real world Princess.

There are no trolls here. It's not like fucking reddit mntrolls or anything. Cunts

Aye.

corythatwas · 02/03/2018 23:24

Surely the kind thing in a snowstorm is not to take somebody in a car if the safer option of a (slightly delayed) train is available?

I think it’s reasonable to ask for a lift home, a girl my dp works with asked me to drop her home tonight and I did (although she gave me a fiver and I drove literally 2 mins down the road! I was mortified and tried to give it back but she had already jumped out the car!)

But I am unclear from the OP if she actually asked for a lift home or to the station? If she said the station would be fine, I can’t see the colleague did anything wrong.

Recent (now deleted) thread where the OP got overemotional when confronted by art.

Screamed when she saw the roof of the Sistine Chapel and got escorted out by security.

(except she didn't, but it was a funny thread all the same)

DalekDalekDalek · 02/03/2018 23:26

Faez There was a thread earlier this week about a woman who was overcome at the beauty of the Sistine chapel and screamed at it. He husband was embarrassed and she thought he was unreasonable.

Look for DH embarrassed at my sensitivity if you want to read the thread.

RebelRogue · 02/03/2018 23:26

Wtf?

Faez · 02/03/2018 23:31

Haaaa I remember the thread title, thank you Dalek

@DancesWithOtters - excellent!

I'm sure I saw an MN message saying they were looking into it but perhaps they reinstated it (or perhaps I imagined it all).

Mummyoflittledragon · 03/03/2018 04:28

I think a lot of people have missed what op said. It was her colleagues turn this week. Op isn’t a cheeky fucker for getting a lift everyday this week. She definitely infers they take it in turn to drive and it will therefore be ops turn next week.

As for the annoyance at about being dumped off at the station, I think this anger is misplaced. But it is part of the wider picture such as being forgotten and left standing in freezing conditions for half an hour. Op is rightly annoyed for this especially as she got the train to a place more convenient for her co worker, who may not reciprocate in kind.

GinIsIn · 03/03/2018 05:04

If she lives 5 mins from where you work, why are you “doing her a favour” by going to a different train station to the one you use from work? Confused

Mummyoflittledragon · 03/03/2018 05:05

Fenella
Op wanted to go to the train station nearest her first appointment.

Neves7 · 03/03/2018 05:18

Lol at the people in this thread who don’t drive but are sure they would have driven everyone and their cat home in their magical never gets stuck 4x4 if only they weren’t too much a nervous driver to pass their test.

Look, driving in bad winter conditions is stressful, hard work. Even for an experienced driver in a 4x4. Likely after slogging through it all day with the OP who wasnt actually able to be useful and take a turn driving, the driver was tired, stressed and just wanted to get home and not slog through another 40 mins of driving through nasty conditions in rush hour traffic.

It was the OPs responsibility to find out about the trains were runnng and arrange alternate transportation if they were not and not just assume their coworker would take them home without even asking.
