AIBU to say that Tony Blair should go away

Tony Blair is in Brussels today to convince EU leaders to try and stop Brexit.

TheEgoHasLanded

Whether you support Brexit or not, Tony Blair still has not got the message that we do not are what he thinks, he has no credibility in the UK and he does not represent us.

Tony Blair and his wife should go live in America where they think he is great and leave us Brits in peace. We are not interested in anything he has to say. We do not trust him. He is still trying to find himself a role as big as his over inflated ego.

He's deranged. And should be in front of a jury, in shackles, in the Hague Angry.

SersioulycanitgetWORSE · 01/03/2018 12:15

Totally agree op. His lack off self awareness etc it's staggering. The damage he did to the labour party... I would lay its current mess at the his door.

The way his government treated the whole immigration issue from the easten Europe and the denial anything was happening is directly responsible for brexit... Because British citizens can't trust any government to work with on the eu.

So yes he should have the good grace to bugger off and leave the UK alone.

SersioulycanitgetWORSE · 01/03/2018 12:16

Oh yes, shackled Grin even better

MyBrilliantDisguise · 01/03/2018 12:16

I disagree. I think he's one of the few who can see what a shocking mess is being made now.

pillicent · 01/03/2018 12:17

To suggest a former PM shouldn't have an opinion on the future of the country is utterly ridiculous to say the least.

SoupyNorman · 01/03/2018 12:17

You may dislike him, but everything he says on this matter is correct. And he is absolutely right and entitled to speak out about the danger this poses to peace in Northern Ireland.

FrannyAndZooeyGlass · 01/03/2018 12:19

I would have a lot more respect for what he says about Brexit if just for once he would admit mistakes were made over WMD.

Birdsgottafly · 01/03/2018 12:19

Go on the thread about the best Government they've lived under and his Government comes out well. That includes for myself and City. Cheryl always had/has good points to make about Human Rights, Sexism, Power and fought in Court for them, long before it became fashionable.

You don't speak for everyone.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 01/03/2018 12:19

Yabu. He is ex pm rather hear from him than Farage.

BoogleMcGroogle · 01/03/2018 12:19

I disagree. He speaks a great deal of sense on Brexit.

And I think that history will be kinder to Blair than present day Opinion. He established a radical reformist government which did a huge amount of good. I admire him for that.

Birdsgottafly · 01/03/2018 12:20

I agree that he let us down over EU immigration.

mothertruck3r · 01/03/2018 12:21

He's probably worried that there won't be any EU migrants to fill his wife's BTL property empire and they may have to reduce rents.

cista · 01/03/2018 12:22

Yanbu

BanyanTree · 01/03/2018 12:22

There are plenty of other people who can put the case against Brexit. He has not been put on trial, but he is a discredited PM. He seems to think he represents the British people. He is an egomaniac and the very fact that he just doesn't see that we despise him just shows how arrogant he is. It's as if all us Brits are too thick to know what is good for us so Tony, the nations champion will do it for us.

SersioulycanitgetWORSE · 01/03/2018 12:24

Oh yes human rights and yet under his rule such was the culture that thousands of girls were getting raped and abused and the authorities knew but weren't too scared to say anything in case perps human rights were in anyway damaged.. Same for when we have tried to extradite people who caused direct harm to the UK.

TheNaze73 · 01/03/2018 12:25

The odious man is responsible for the whole mess

Mishappening · 01/03/2018 12:26

He is not wrong about the need for EU reform - we would not be in this mess if it had taken the collective decision to reform and rethink its direction.

But on the whole I do think that he needs to "go away" - how quaint. Grin

cingolimama · 01/03/2018 12:27

For me, Blair speaks a lot of sense. As does John Major (and I never thought I'd say that)

SersioulycanitgetWORSE · 01/03/2018 12:27

Personally I think history will judge his court as the downfall of the the UK.

Poverty gap grew under his reign.. Not only did it grow but he then allowed all those services and charities to be swamped by hundreds more poor people from the the eu.. Then on top of this we have got hit by the credit crunch.. He was a disaster for the UK and no one was allowed to speak out.. We were heading for stasi state.. People informing on each other.

Now we have the big swing of the corbyn movement...

BanyanTree · 01/03/2018 12:31

Yes, Mishappening, I did want to use much stronger language than that Grin

The American's love him. He flew out and stood shoulder to shoulder with GWB after 9/11. If he was to move there he would be on the speakers circuit and invited over to The White House regularly. He'd get the adoration his massive ego needs. I don't know what he is waiting for. He is never going to be President of the EU now. Imagine how much he would screw us over if he was Hmm

BananaHarvest · 01/03/2018 12:32

Couldn’t disagree more. Best prime minister in a very long time. He’s speaking out because he can see the muddle.

MyBrilliantDisguise · 01/03/2018 12:42

It's as if all us Brits are too thick to know what is good for us

To be fair to Blair, it really is looking like that's true.

Unfinishedkitchen · 01/03/2018 12:47

Sorry YABU and you don’t get to speak on behalf over every Brit saying we don’t want him here. He was arrogant but was also definitely the best PM I’ve lived under (most of my friends agree) and history will be kind to him.

I wish he would return and take over the Labour Party. If him and John Major formed a new party to represent the centre I would become a member tomorrow.

greenlanes · 01/03/2018 12:51

Franny - I so agree with you. I have no respect for the man because of his lies and misleading of Parliament on a huge scale. Honesty, admission that poor decisions were made, even if using hindsight, etc would have carried a lot of weight and respect from me. As it currently stands I think he used his position of former Head of State to maximise his personal wealth. Shame really. I can understand why he would be concerned about Northern Ireland peace process but he has lost so much credibility.

GnotherGnu · 01/03/2018 12:53

I dunno, I find myself wishing he was around, if only because he'd wipe the floor with May at PMQ.
