AIBU to say that Tony Blair should go away

Tony Blair is in Brussels today to convince EU leaders to try and stop Brexit.

TheEgoHasLanded

Whether you support Brexit or not, Tony Blair still has not got the message that we do not are what he thinks, he has no credibility in the UK and he does not represent us.

Tony Blair and his wife should go live in America where they think he is great and leave us Brits in peace. We are not interested in anything he has to say. We do not trust him. He is still trying to find himself a role as big as his over inflated ego.

Sometimes I think the swivel eyed Brexit brigade can't get any more hysterical, and they come out with 'the EU stole our negotiating talents'.

That's one way of getting the gormless David Davis off the hook. 'It isn't dimwitted David's fault, a big European boy did it and then ran away'.

Shmithecat · 01/03/2018 22:37

He shouldn't be anywhere other than prison for war crimes and murder. Piece of shit.

SteamTrainsRealAleandOpenFires · 01/03/2018 23:47

The only thing Tony Blair is interested in is Tony Blair And his bank accounts/shares etc.

TemporarySign · 02/03/2018 09:13

I've never been Blair's biggest fan, because I think he was a domestic disaster, a continuation of Thatcher. But really, all these people weighing in with knives after Iraq... no war isn't nice and he shouldn't have started it, but do you really expect a leader of a major world nation to have completely clean hands? Really?

Beetlejizz · 02/03/2018 09:30

The thing with the NI peace process is that rather a lot of the people who were significantly involved in it, and thus have expertise, have done some pretty awful things. If you're going to insist on clean hands before taking any notice of anyone on the matter, there will be some rather big gaps in your understanding.

Still though, fuck NI, eh? The luxury of ideological purity feels so much nicer.

Niceandwarmandhot · 02/03/2018 09:55

But Temporary - he was warned that it would see terrorism rise dramatically. He knew that the reasons given weren't accurate. He did it anyway.

He shouldn't get away with that.

TemporarySign · 02/03/2018 10:53

And you're - all of us are - now being repeatedly warned that Brexit will be a disaster. For us economically, for EU, for security in Europe with Russia looking for mischief and that tit in the White House, and for local security in NI. I remember the NI troubles and the terrorist incidents on the mainland.

And you're doing it anyway.

It remains to be seen whether Blair and Major - Major at least is untainted, we could put more in his hands - can negotiate with better results than grinning Cameron. I don't see that we should be prejudiced against trying.

MistressDeeCee · 02/03/2018 11:11

I can't stand Blair. But - he has a big mouth and makes sure he's heard. Meanwhile Corbyn has managed to make me, a lifelong Labour voter, feel unable to vote Labour any longer.

I blame him entirely for the fact that Blair's voice is heard more than his, that Tories can decimate the poor and working classes with no opposition. Whilst Corbyn & his cronies just sit there enjoying ministerial jobs and perks.

I can't remember what Corbyn has to say about anything at all as he's not out amongst the people, as Blair was back in the day - Blair got off his arse and went walkabout. He never shut up.

I like Blair's views on Brexit. But he has another agenda I think, and it won't be anything good. He's just a Narc that wants to be heard, he & Bush should be in jail

Bluelady · 02/03/2018 11:17

I don't care what his agenda is if he sorts out the fiasco that is Brexit. It's come to something when two former prime ministers have to come to the country's aid because the present incumbent and her opposite number are so incompetent. Any port in a storm.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 02/03/2018 11:32

But really, all these people weighing in with knives after Iraq... no war isn't nice and he shouldn't have started it, but do you really expect a leader of a major world nation to have completely clean hands?

No but I don't expect them to be lying war criminals. He knew the WMD dossier was a lie and I hold him and his cronies responsible for the death of Dr David Kelly, the man who dared go against the lies.

ginghamstarfish · 02/03/2018 11:48

Can't stand the sight of him, but surely those who voted him into power should stand by their (then) choice - if you voted for him then you got what you wanted ... same thing Labour voters constantly say about those who vote Conservative. I tell you who should go away, those who vote for a person or party, whichever side, then when it all goes to crap distance themselves from it and pretend they didn't participate.

starlightafar · 02/03/2018 11:52

Tony Blair should be tried for War Crimes. Alongside George Bush.
Millions killed because of their actions. Which resulted in mass movement of refugees into Europe, which Nigel Farage then used to scare the masses and indirectly result in a Brexit vote which is going to be the worst move we've ever made politically.

starlightafar · 02/03/2018 11:54

Corbyn is a dreadful party leader. There is no chance of a labour government while ever he is leader.

NameChanger22 · 02/03/2018 11:56

I like him, I've always liked him. I'm fully behind anyone that is doing everything they can to stop brexit. We need more people like him.

NameChanger22 · 02/03/2018 11:58

John Major is also looking pretty heroic right now (and I hate the Tories as a general rule).

Beetlejizz · 02/03/2018 12:00

Yeah but the best way to remember all those dead Iraqis Blair is responsible for, which is a lot, is to destabilise the peace process in NI. Obviously. It's what David Kelly would have wanted.

Bluelady · 02/03/2018 12:00

I hate them too but JM is a total hero. He used to be my MP and was utterly brilliant. It's always seemed weird to me that he's a Tory at all.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 02/03/2018 12:04

Maybe he's realised the current mess is of his making too and wants to try and make something right.

I don't like him, but if he can do something right now, then I'll take it.

Theworldisfullofidiots · 02/03/2018 12:44

bluelady you must live near me. He was better than our current MP. Although he is calling to be in the customs union.

Anyone going to slag odd Michael Hesseltine now....he calling for a free vote in parliament and a public vote....?

Bluelady · 02/03/2018 13:01

Yeah, Djanogly is truly dreadful. That's what happens when you essentially buy yourself a safe seat.

PippinOrange · 02/03/2018 13:14

He definitely should.

Theworldisfullofidiots · 02/03/2018 14:19

bluelady and it's terrible for us. He doesn't seem the slightest bit interested and is badly briefed.
