To not let my stupid cats freeze to death (lighthearted)

It’s -4, snow is coming down, garden is covered. I’ve told them repeatedly they can’t go outside as it’s too cold. They won’t be reasoned with and have being crying and whining by the door for half an hour.

Am I the worst cat mum ever for not letting them outside to freeze? Tempted to stick them out for 10 minutes so they see what I’m talking about.

Not if your off to work and they’ll be stuck out tho x

dementedpixie · 01/03/2018 08:50

One of mine is out. The other went out for 2 minutes then came back for breakfast

LadySainsburySeal · 01/03/2018 08:52

Lovely cats!

Let them out. They'll soon be back on your chair! Grin

dementedpixie · 01/03/2018 08:52

The path they follow down the grass!

Mine don't go out of the garden anymore (very very old), so I stood there with an open door, eldest walked out as usual, inhaled once and shot back in. Youngest sat down in a bit of snow and meowed at me complaining that her arse was cold and I had to pick her up and bring her in.

Then I needed a hot toddy to warm up :D

dementedpixie · 01/03/2018 08:54

I just shouted from the door and the other is back in for food too

DogWoman123 · 01/03/2018 08:54

I've let ours out a few times, because I enjoy seeing them hop back in! One of them tool a few goes to work up to going out and had to do a run up to the door. Very dramatic!

TheCatsMother44 · 01/03/2018 08:54

Mine have been popping in and out for the past few days. Let yours out to look in disgust at the snow for 5 minutes and then let them back in.

nellly · 01/03/2018 08:56

Yea let them out. Mine was meowing by the window at me endlessly. I let him out to shut him up, he did a lap of the garden, pounced on a snow flake and immediately made a bolt for the door to come back in Grinpictures of before and after attached!Wink

One of mine's been out making snowballs with her paws then throwing them in the air and catching them!

The other is sensibly bedding down in the warmth.

PaperdollCartoon · 01/03/2018 08:56

Ha ha - I might then. It was snowing then sunny and back and forth here yesterday so I let them out in the sunny bits but it’s so changeable.

I’m not going anywhere, will be sat by the door and would hear them trying to get in from anywhere on the ground floor. They’ve wandered off now, probably to try to concoct a better argument for why they should be let back, I’ll see what they come back with Grin

Omg they are gorgeous OP!

Pumperthepumper · 01/03/2018 09:02

Mine’s the same, he won’t use the litter tray so goes outside to pee, furious, then comes back in furious at being in the house with two children. We made him his own wee den and everything but he’d rather just sit in the living room glaring out the window.

Niceandwarmandhot · 01/03/2018 09:03

They're so cute!

My friend's cat yowled to be let out for hours yesterday until they opened the door. He went straight to his favourite garden chair. Which was inches thick in snow. And put his cat arse in it.

They got the best picture of his face; he was so so mad. I'd post it but it's not my cat. Hilarious though. He was back inside within 5 minutes, sulking as if they'd made him go out there.

bertsdinner · 01/03/2018 09:06

Mine wants to go out. I openned the back door and he just stared at the mini snowdrift on the step for about 5 minutes then turned around and went back inside. Now crying at the front door, because, of course, the weather will be different through the other door.

Weedsnseeds1 · 01/03/2018 09:07

Mine has the right idea. Popped out for his morning ablutions, then collapsed by the radiator.

One of mine lurves snow and plays in it but has v thick ginger coat - the other hates it and gets really upset the other is obviously crazy - we don’t have really good deep thick snow yet - fingers crossed for Storm Emma (just for thick ginger)

Branleuse · 01/03/2018 09:13

Mine have been in and out of the catflap as usual. One of my cats usually sleeps in the shed, so ive made it cosy for him, but ive been trying to get him to come in at night, but he always goes out again in the early hours anyway

fusushumi · 01/03/2018 09:20

I keep opening the door for mine but he sniffs the air and decides to stay inside every time! Cats know how to look after themselves. Perhaps yours want to go out because they need to wee?

anotherchangetomyname · 01/03/2018 09:23

Mine have a cat flap, but they have been out. They like a quick mooch, a pee in the fresh air and then back to warm comfort.

bittern79 · 01/03/2018 09:24

They are so cute, let them do whatever they like Grin

They might like to play in the snow! Anyway, it's fun watching cats walk in the snow then shake thwir paws...

Sahara123 · 01/03/2018 09:25

I eventually gave in to my two young cats and opened the cat flap . They both stuck their heads out into a blizzard and shot back in , both now asleep in the warm. It was quite funny ! They love to play in the snow when it’s not actually snowing.

RabbityMcRabbit · 01/03/2018 09:25

Very cute cats! Let them out, they'll doon want to be back in. We have a catflap and ours still go out, but they're back in very soon!

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 01/03/2018 09:25

Oh let them out. It's the only way they'll learn!
