To not let my stupid cats freeze to death (lighthearted)

It’s -4, snow is coming down, garden is covered. I’ve told them repeatedly they can’t go outside as it’s too cold. They won’t be reasoned with and have being crying and whining by the door for half an hour.

Am I the worst cat mum ever for not letting them outside to freeze? Tempted to stick them out for 10 minutes so they see what I’m talking about.

Fab thread! Cats are brill Smile

Our boy has been out and about as usual. Taking refuge and stalking the birds from under the trampoline. It's hilarious watching him hopping over the snow like a bunny. The snow is weird and powdery and he comes indoors virtually dry.

Motherofajuggernaut · 02/03/2018 08:04

Mine is currently hiding under my bed, after sitting in the window glaring at the snow. He's gone off his food and keeps asking to go out the back and front of the house and looking at me yowling that it's somehow my fault. He doesn't do snow! Stupid cat!

Youvegotafriendinme · 02/03/2018 08:06

OP you have my cats! Mine looks exactly the same as yours! Now to get a picture to show you!

Youvegotafriendinme · 02/03/2018 08:11

There you go!

My madam has plonked herself next to the radiator to stay warm. She's been out a few times but not now as the wind is quite bad here.

"Excuse me, why is that white stuff still in my garden?"

Oh OP, your cats are gorgeous! The one on the right is so like my old boy that had to be put to sleep a few years ago.

I've got 4 cats at the moment. 3 are thoroughly unimpressed and haven't attempted to leave the house more than once. The other mad man keeps going out and running laps of the garden before coming in with a face on him because he's wet Grin

So my stupid cat would NOT go out to the loo last night, and I ended up having to go out to the garage in my onesie at 2200 to retrieve the litter tray and litter 🙄.

StripySocksAndDocs · 02/03/2018 09:38

Mine just was out leaping into the snow. (Reminded me of footage of a different species of cat hunting in the snow.) Was sorry i didnt record him.

RabbityMcRabbit · 02/03/2018 09:43

Love this thread! Zeppo your cat looks like he's wearing a white bow tie! So cute! Smile

dementedpixie · 02/03/2018 09:45

Watching birds in the tree. They are in and out all the time which i inconvenient as we don't have a cat flap

DogWoman123 · 02/03/2018 09:46

One of mine has been enjoying licking bits of snow from people's wellies rather than drinking from his water bowl this morning.

arseholeseverywhere · 02/03/2018 10:33

@nellly I love your sofa! (And of course kitty)

TheLongRider · 02/03/2018 10:35

This was my catflap this morning! They'd pushed it open and it stayed open because the snow was propping it up.

Ernie eventually gave in and went out to do his business, he headed to one of his loos and gave up as there was snow all do the way. (last time this area didnt get snowed on)

So he tried to wee in snow up to his belly...managed it but then had to poo...he wasn't impressed at all.

Of course I have now cleared his toilet and a path to it

NutButterNutter · 02/03/2018 10:49

Den my gorgeous boy is also a Middle Eastern rescue!! Cost the earth to bring him back when we returned to the UK but he's worth it Smile

MyLawnMowerMan · 02/03/2018 11:32

Both my cat love playing snowball catching. The pic is of my crazy one looking for a snowball (hadn't thrown one, he reckons they fall from the sky!!). They also come for 3 to 4 walks a day with me when I take my dog out, even when it was - 11 at midnight and snowing fast.

What do you think the cats living in Northern Russia do? They don't feel cold like us wimpy humans

There’s a lovely BBC article ‘Cats versus snow is the only thing that matters right now’ but I’m not sure how to copy the link across Grin

Sidge · 02/03/2018 13:23

Here it is Pixie

Omg Ica your cats look like mine!

Lemme find a picture....

holasoydora · 02/03/2018 14:04

One of mine lives outdoors and sleeps in an outdoor cat house (won't sleep indoors). I have made it cosy and lined it but when he isn't in it he is racing across the snow playing snowballs.

My other cat has barely left the sofa!

The outdoor one was previously a stray so I think must have a thicker coat.
