To not let my stupid cats freeze to death (lighthearted)

It’s -4, snow is coming down, garden is covered. I’ve told them repeatedly they can’t go outside as it’s too cold. They won’t be reasoned with and have being crying and whining by the door for half an hour.

Am I the worst cat mum ever for not letting them outside to freeze? Tempted to stick them out for 10 minutes so they see what I’m talking about.

I’m up and down like a yo-yo with my bloody cat, he wants out but can only handle 10 mins at most then starts miaowing at the door to get in, 20 mins later he’s miaowing to get out again 🙄

Ha ha - I got told off by one of my cats too. Lots of disgruntled meowing (tempermental tortie Grin) The youngest isn’t as bothered and keeps dashing in & out of the cat flap.

Broken11Girl · 01/03/2018 10:17

Madam BrokenCat is NOT impressed. She wails to go out, but when I open the door has one sniff of the air, realises it's freezing and refuses to go. I wouldn't mind if she went for 2 minutes but she won't, but cries pitifully again ten minutes later, because the weather has of course changed Hmm
Little furry dictators Grin

TheMadGardener · 01/03/2018 10:21

One of ours keeps wanting to go out, then realises it is freezing and wants back in 30 seconds later, then wants to go out again in case the weather has miraculously changed...

The other one is an ex-stray and has no intention of going out. All you can see of him is his tail poking out of a pile of DD1's duvet.

DenPerry · 01/03/2018 10:22

Mine goes out for 5 mins to patrol and then rushes back in when it starts flurrying again Grin

Loving this thread. Mine are asleep in a plug in cat heat pad in the living room

Tinkofhousepan · 01/03/2018 10:48

That is as far as she got. Didn't even have that much snow yesterday. She is definitely not amused.

Mine is a new rescue cat so she isn't allowed out, is currently hiding under my bed. This is my new cat in her other safe space...

Our female cat has no intention of going anywhere near the door. She has found herself her most favourite thing in the world, a cardboard box.

She's cute. She has a little fat head!

I've had to go out today in perilous conditions to get our cat a extra litter tray (he usually has a covered one outside) as he has been very distressed about having to go out in the snow Shock

Spangles1963 · 01/03/2018 19:44

Open the door for them, and I bet you they'll sniff the air for a few seconds then back away! All my DM's cats used to do this. If they DO venture outside, they'll more than likely be back in again within a few minutes.

FuzzyCustard · 01/03/2018 19:46

One of ours went out...very briefly. The other has been in all day. He must have bladder muscles of steel.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 01/03/2018 19:47

It’s been -13 some night here, and our dopey kitty Bobby has still wanted to go out. He lasts about 30 seconds then yows at the door to get in again.

mirime · 01/03/2018 19:49

One of mine has been glued to one of those beds that hook over a radiator, the other has been mainly under the bathroom radiator, but has ventured out twice for about 3 minutes. I think he really needed a wee!

My bloody cat has gone off all day! Getting really concerned now he hates rain but apparently snow is ace! Il be sleeping downstairs to hear him tonight ( no catflap)

Spangles1963 · 01/03/2018 19:52

MereDintofPandiculation. Grin I remember my late DM's 4 cats doing this. She had a large patio surrounded by flower borders, which was where they normally did their 'business'. When the patio was covered in snow and they couldn't see where the border ended and the patio started, little piles of poo would be revealed when the snow melted. My DM would say 'Some dirty devil's done a pile on the patio'.

Ollivander84 · 01/03/2018 19:53

Hope he appears soon perfect. Preferably before bedtime.

DalekDalekDalek · 01/03/2018 19:55

Mine has barely put a paw out of bed today let alone outside the house!

baxtersmum · 01/03/2018 19:59

My boy thought about going out after meowing at me all day but then decided my lap was better. He eventually popped out for about a minute but like PPs said clearly the snow was all my fault!

SanFranBear · 01/03/2018 20:00

So many beautiful cats ♡

I'd post a picture of my boy but other than some bouncing out the back first thing, he's not ventured further than the various hot spots under radiators and my lap all day.
