AIBU?

Not to wear knickers in bed?

Not a thread about a thread, as such, but I was very struck by someone on another thread talking about her old bed kickers (as in knickers she wears in bed, not as in knickers worn by her bed). I would have thought it was thoroughly unreasonable to wear knickers of any description in bed (unless they are the type that leads to Things), but AIBU?

This whole 'airing' business has me mystified. Can see the logic if one of wears a nightie, but some pj bottoms are fairly tight around the ol' vulva (and may not be cotton) so surely this isn't conducive to air circulation, knickers or not?!

Fissionchips me tooooooo!!! Feels very weird and risky without them
Don't have special bed time knicks though, I'll just keep whatever i have on, on. Usually under PJs as well, even in summer under a nightie.

I never wear underwear in bed unless I've got my period.
I like it all to be free

If I dont wear knickers or shorts in bed I feel nekkid. And when I get up to pee I have to put something on anyway.

Knickers (shorts style) and a vest for me.

Then period knickers (big, lovely, comfy belly warmers), pyjama bottoms and a vest when it’s TOTM.

I'm 40 and have always worn knickers in bed ( apart from "special occasions " )
and have never had thrush in my life.

I think if the house was burning down I would be more worried about the kids than my knicker situation so that's not a reason I wear them.

Am now wondering if my fanjo is getting enough air though Grin

I haven’t worn anything in bed since I was a teenager. I have found since switching to my mooncup I don’t need knickers during my period either, which is great as I can’t sleep in them.

Pre-DC i slept nude. Now i wear PJs i wear knickers too. 2 reasons - the seam of the PJs go right up my crack if not and i don't want to wash my jamas everyday. I already do 2-3 loads a day and don't need anymore washing.

(awaits being told i'm a filthy minger for not washing my PJs daily)

@FissionChips & @TotHappy, me three!! I thought I was the only one, as people look at me like I'm bonkers or regularly wet the bed when I say it.

Oh and i remember a thread like this a while back and a wise poster pointed out that if your fanny needed that much air flow it would have been on your forehead!

I wear big cotton pants in bed, i’ve Never had any issues from it and find them really comfortable.

Once my husband slept naked and woke up to horrendous itching balls, only to find a huge dead spider under his ballsack, minus a few legs, which he had to fish out separately. It must have gotten crushed.

Iv only wore knickers when it was monthly time because i used to lose quite heavily.
Its no joke being padded and plugged and knickered up to the eyeballs on a hot summer night.

This is not the first MN thread about this. On the last one someone said if you don't wear knickers to bed and fart it lets "poo crumbs" loose in the bed...

I do not wear underwear to bed, it's uncomfortable.

I am actually very jealous of women who do not seem to need to wear underwear when they have their periods!

Oh God. The knickers in bed is my parenting fail. I always used to bob the girls in bed with no pants on to air the ladies department overnight. It was only when they were a lot older that they told me that our Indonesian maid had told them if they didn't wear knicks at night then cockroaches would creep inside and lay eggs Shock To this day (20 & 22) they have full crotch lock down after hours whilst their little sister, who (unfortunately for me) had no Indonesian input, rarely bothers with undies at all!

The replies to this were cheering me up (still laughing at Luxanna) no end until I read the one from Teabagtits. I am henceforth wearing at least four pairs of bed-pants. Which could well be a relief to burglars and firemen alike.

Never ever wear knickers in bed. Horribly uncomfortable and I like a naked cuddle!

I was always told it's wasn't good to wear them in bed. Just wear your pjs.

That poor spider Pyscho. What an awful way to die- realising your legs are ripped off and then suffocating under an enormous sweaty ball sack.

knickers & pj's to bed here.
anything else is too cold (for me)

what you wear in your own bed is up to you. as long as you are comfortable

what if a spider crawls up your vagina in the night and lays it’s eggs in the warm damp crevice?

Christ, that's a bit lurid Grin

MrsKoala, not that I want to kick off this discussion, but the issue of pants or no pants with PJs is another MASSIVELY vexed one, isn't it? I tried to get my DP to explain it to me (he says no pants: 'pants would be weird') but I still don't really understand why.

I was always one to have an "airing" at night and sleep with none. I was always taught this was the healthiest thing to do. Alas, since a traumatic birthing experience I'm in incontinence pads day and night so now I'm solidly wrapped up in big cotton pants.

Ah I miss the airing and breeze. Sad
