Not to wear knickers in bed?

Vulpius · 20/02/2018 10:56

Not a thread about a thread, as such, but I was very struck by someone on another thread talking about her old bed kickers (as in knickers she wears in bed, not as in knickers worn by her bed). I would have thought it was thoroughly unreasonable to wear knickers of any description in bed (unless they are the type that leads to Things), but AIBU?

Since having DC's the old fanjo juices are a bit free-er than that used to be so it's pants all the way for me. (Things would get a bit sticky otherwise )

Mrsjellybum · 21/02/2018 21:21

PMSL at the thought of everyone's fanjos breathing in an out to *" get some air" Grin

LeighaJ · 21/02/2018 21:26

I've never given much thought one way or another about wearing underwear to bed. I usually buy the most comfortable underwear that's not ugly or grannyish so maybe that's why I don't think about it.

"Your fanjo is not really going to get an airing even with no knickers, unless you sleep with the duvet off and legs apart"

🤣

PotteryLottery · 21/02/2018 21:30

I wore knickers until I was 35 years old but after I had my DD it started feeling too hot down there and so go pant less unless on period.

LemonysSnicket · 21/02/2018 21:32

I only do it if I’m on my period ... other wise pjs or naked.

It’ll give you thrush that will

Mum2jenny · 21/02/2018 21:32

Surface area of knickers versus surface area of average duvet, no real issue imo. Prefer sleeping knickerless and so far have had no issues with 'sticky' duvet cover.

Vulpius · 21/02/2018 21:38

brownelephant, I am glad you tried it. I have, it's true, done the reverse during periodic times (and before I discovered tampons, rather late in life - though now have the worry about TSS, thanks to a PP). I don't think I've worn pyjamas since I was a child, and am definitely not going to start now.

In fact, this thread has opened up whole new avenues of anxiety: TSS, spiders in my fanjo, sleeping in farticles, threadworms and so on. Plus I definitely do not wash my bedding every day. Blush

Wearing knickers in bed does NOT give you thrush or cystitis unless you're wearing nylon ones but wearing nylon knickers in the day will give you them just as easily

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 21/02/2018 22:03

I’ve always gone to bed knickerless
(unless totm obv) .... Don’t change sheets every day, of course, but you don’t need to if you wash your undercarriage every day, surely....?

Life’s too short to lose sleep, worrying about farticles etc.

windchimesabotage · 21/02/2018 22:08

Lol I actually go through phases. Get used to sleeping naked in the summer and then someone visits and stays over so I sleep with underwear on... then I get used to the feeling of that and start to have to do it to sleep.... usually lasts until winter when I start wearing pj trousers which I then abandon when it starts getting warm... and the cycle begins again....

And that is my comprehensive guide to what I wear in bed. Youre welcome.

RubyFlint · 21/02/2018 22:24

josiejasper quite right. Perhaps a fanjo fan set up in the bedroom would help with the airing process. Electric or otherwise.

Ansumpasty · 21/02/2018 22:39

My mum always said, 'you have to let your bum breathe.'

I dont sleep in knickers (or socks, for that matter) unless I'm on my period and then I wake up feeling uncomfortable all night long. My sister sleeps in her thongs, it's bizarre

MrsDilber · 21/02/2018 22:43

If you wear PJ's and no knickers, the seam sticks up your bottom, serious wedgy territory.

magratvonlipwig · 21/02/2018 22:45

I always wear comfy cotton pants to bed. Partly cos i know trumps contain poo particles and i dont want that on the sheets! And also i get hot and kick the duvet off and feel a bit exposed with a bare bum. Never had thrush or cystitis either!

Stugzule · 21/02/2018 22:49

I wear men’s baggy boxers shorts to bed, just same as wearing pyjamas shorts to bed really, would hate to wear actual knickers though, prefer loose clothes in bed.

Not to wear knickers in bed?
blueamberuk · 21/02/2018 22:50

Let it breathe lol. I have done all my 63 years well except when in a nappy, my mum said going to bed in knickers was dirty, even clean ones. Perhaps that was as in the 50's it was still an era of a couple of baths a week person as hot water was expensive and no big tanks so you let your bits breathe to stop 24hr sweatiness, who knows. I wore knicks when in hospital and could not sleep but now its a tshirt style nightie and bobs your uncle, perfect comfort.

AnimalBrain · 21/02/2018 22:50

This all makes me think I have a particularly drippy fanny Blush I need to wear something or it feels all moist Confused

browneyes77 · 21/02/2018 22:58

I always think how embarrassing it would be if there was a fire and I had to climb out of the bedroom window down a fireman's ladder with no knickers on.
There might not be time to locate any.

Same here! I’ve never worn knickers to bed. But I do wear shorts or pj bottoms and a vest or tshirt. I could never sleep with my foo foo and knockers hanging out.

Vulpius · 21/02/2018 23:03

Laughing very much at these replies. Wondering if there is any kind of relationship between knockers and knickers. I have no knockers worth mentioning (so no risk of 'em hanging out, or even being visible unless a potential fireman were to be carrying a magnifying glass), and no knickers in bed either.

RubyFlint I need that picture framing. And you need to patent the idea of a fanjo fan. Grin

If I’m able to undress myself at bedtime then I’ll be bollocko.

Otherwise Im probably wearing false eyelashes, a pencil skirt and a thong.

Tokillamockingalan · 21/02/2018 23:12

*bluffinwithmymuffin

Don’t change sheets every day, of course, but you don’t need to if you wash your undercarriage every day, surely....?*

A daily scrub of the undercarriage isn’t going to stop any overnight fanjo juice or moistness rubbing off on the sheets. Between that and the microscopic sharting, sleeping knickerless is just lying in a puddle of bodily excretions. But each to their own!

JosieJasper · 21/02/2018 23:14

RubyFlint we need to get you on Dragons Den with your "incredible fanjo fan!!" Love it!! Grin
