Not to wear knickers in bed?

Not a thread about a thread, as such, but I was very struck by someone on another thread talking about her old bed kickers (as in knickers she wears in bed, not as in knickers worn by her bed). I would have thought it was thoroughly unreasonable to wear knickers of any description in bed (unless they are the type that leads to Things), but AIBU?

You need to wear knickers for hygiene. Even if you fart, you fart out microscopic faecal particles. If it's just you in bed and you don't mind that then it's fine but you wouldn't want your kids to come into the bed.

I always wear knickers in bed because of threadworms!
My darling children have brought home repeated bouts now, the advice is to wear close fitting underwear, to limit the um itch - scratch - egg spread cycle.
Medicated and all clear at the moment ....but.... 'shudder'....i just can't sleep without pants on anymore!!!

I wear knickers under my jimjams, otherwise my jimjam bottoms act as my knickers and have to be washed after every wearing. Sorry to disappoint various posters’ grannies‘ theories on intimate hygiene but i have never had thrush in my entire life. I also wear a very soft, supportive bra and two pairs of socks. I feel the cold and don‘t share my bed with another, so i don‘t know how that would affect things if i did.

When I was 14 DM told me to put pants on under my nighty, I was clearly developing and she didn’t want DF and older brothers seeing anything! I still do. The nighty often rides up to the stomach area and I’d hate for my bits to be rubbing all over the bedding as I toss and turn. DD 11 and DS7 also wear in pants in bed, I’ve told them they don’t need to but they absolutely insist and say it would be weird and yucky without.

Knickers in bed? Nooo. You need to let the air get to your nethers. Why would you wear knickers unless you're in a place where you might need to get up or out quickly (tent or dodgy hotel). Too much knicker wearing can cause thrush and cystitis.

if you are repeatedly suffering from thrush you need to wash bedding, towels and knickers at a high temperature.

How can you NOT wear knickers in bed? :O
Just think of all those germs from residue from using the loo, anything expelled in your gas, and vaginal secretions sitting in your bed sheets!

It doesnt seem any different in my mind as wearing the same knickers for however many days you go between changing your sheets. Pants are a barrier to catch that stuff (with or without the help of a liner/towel) then you change them daily. By going bare in bed all those germs, fluids etc are going on your sheets and getting spread all about in there, and in turn, all over you! Yuck!

I do also get first responders post about feeling she'll pee herself, i always get an odd "unsafe" feeling when i'm not wearing underwear, but i assume its just psychological as the only time i dont wear any is to use the loo or shower.

I wear knickers to bed and pjs. I just can't not wear knickers. It feels yucky to me and i don't want (TMI) anything leaking on my legs

I never did, but now do. No idea why. Maybe extra warmth for my bony arse as I get older?! My bedroom is ice cold and can’t sleep if extremities are cold. So hot water bottles for feet and back. And pants and pjs for my disappeared bum. Tragically now sleep alone as husband is an ex and dog who used to warm my feet has sadly died.

I have never worn knickers - just pj bottoms - but wear them even if wearing a nightie.

dds wear knickers AND pj bottoms - I think that is just weird.
Always wear a bra ever since my elder dc was born and doctor in hospital said that boobs would droop.

Euugghh - This is rank! If you aren’t wearing knickers in bed, then the bedding itself becomes ‘the knicker’. So, as we all know we should change our pants every day, are the knickerless crew doing daily bedding changes??? I had no idea not wearing pants in bed (unless engaging in something that requires one to be pant-less) was even a thing. Vom.

i wear bra and pants. Don;t feel secure without knickers on

I am of course assuming being knickerless is essentially being bottom-half naked (at least) as opposed to going commando under pjs (although that’s still grim)

Pants at the totm (eeeeewwwww 🤭) but other than that no pants!!! There is nothing wrong with either but people have their preference

Ooooo if I don’t wear knickers in bed I have bad dreams, no idea why but always the way! I have specific pants I wear to bed too, day time pants and then big massive pants that are 2 sizes bigger than my normal size which are nighttime pants.

Your fanjo is not really going to get an airing even with no knickers, unless you sleep with the duvet off and legs apart But it's each to their own and how they feel comfortable, surely.
