It seems to be the day for it :)

If you're a SAHM mum on benefits does that make you a prostitute to the masses instead of just to your DP?

asking for a friend

mrsreynolds · 19/02/2018 18:24

Thats genius soupdragon

Lavenderdays · 19/02/2018 18:24

Soup Dragon...grinning at your post...
My dd recently told me that as a full-time sahm, I don't have a 'proper' job which when voiced on mumsnet...got a resounding, well no, technically you don't have a proper job because you don't get paid to be a parent do you (its a role not a job deary) and caused fervent uproar by the sheer hint of it ever being likened to a job...(and a good kicking ensued) Well, yes, now you've come up with the perfect solution for all of that Soup...swop kids and a few quid and thus, henceforth one can have their worthiness reinstated once more....

P.S...I'll have you know, that I am a professional domestic engineer darlings, (dealing in the care of children and household management... not white goods) and I tell people so...did somebody mention it's wine o'clock?...oops no wine this time to take the edge off my pending kicking...I'm heavily pregnant your honour, so will have to stay in my current profession a tad longer, me thinks (currently, sob, without the wine/hip flask) xxx

PollyCotton · 19/02/2018 18:24

I'm a pretty rubbish prostitute. Or maybe I'm just on mat leave... Are we allowed mat leave?

I'm also I pretty rubbish "home maker" ---- - I only hoover when we have people coming round, I rarely do any washing & don't do a whole lot of cleaning either.

I do take care of a baby all day & balance her needs with homeschooling the older ones, but that's because I'm too lazy & neglectful to take them to school.

MrsKoala · 19/02/2018 18:24

What about SAHM's with cleaners/nannies/gardeners? They get a kicking from the other SAHMs too. Everyone hates them. Lazy lazy lazy lazy fucking bitches.

Soubriquet · 19/02/2018 18:26

I urm, guess I'm in for ah extra hard kicking since not only am I a SAHM, when my Dh gets home at 2pm (from a 6am work start), he sends me to bed for a nap or tv time on my own... BlushGrin

LBOCS2 · 19/02/2018 18:29

Ooh, by this thread I'm due at least three kickings.

I work part time (for 'pin money' ahahahaha), term time only
I'm a wicked stepmother (honestly, DSS hates me so much he makes me chat to him when he's having a poo)
I have a cleaner despite being home two days a week "making memories" with my younger and ferrying my elder to myriad activities
I expect DH to pull his weight as a parent and I don't let him sad face out of tasks
Sometimes I shut myself the other side of the stair gate so I can drink my coffee in peace while it's hot.

I don't watch daytime tv though, that's my hard no. I just binge watch Masterchef Australia instead.

StealthPolarBear · 19/02/2018 18:30

LBOC I'm not a sadist. One kicking per person.

Here for my kicking, Ma'am!

Although I did ring an agency to see about signing back up for supply because at least when I did that I got to have a wee all by myself. And actually grab 5 minutes at lunch to drink a hot cup of tea without one wailing for "more milk" and the other withering on about fairies and butterflies and did I know.... Mummy?.... Mummy! MUMMY!
Then it got worse when I got the others from school.

So yeah , kick, kick away, I'm lying on the floor ready! Grin

MrsKoala · 19/02/2018 18:34

I've been recording the first series of ER on CBS drama and eating leftover bought birthday cake while watching it in the morning.

seafoodeatit · 19/02/2018 18:35

Reporting for duty.

Sort of, but not really, I'd need to have a job to report to and many on here would tell you I'm actually unemployed.

mrsreynolds · 19/02/2018 18:39

I've been considering an ou course...
But....you know...the effort...😩

LBOCS2 · 19/02/2018 18:45

To be fair @mrsreynolds, I went back to work because that way I didn't have to commit to the MBA I'd been muttering about instead... 😁

mustbemad17 · 19/02/2018 18:46

Mrsreynolds I looked at OU courses today...funded by my DP...pretty sure that would involve a lot more flogging of my arse to pay my debt. My end thought was exactly the same as yours...urgh the effort!

Loyaultemelie · 19/02/2018 18:47

Glen does that mean we've escaped?

mrsreynolds · 19/02/2018 18:52

Oh I mean the short free ones 😁
I'm not spunking £1000s on courses that will take real work 😁

Booie09 · 19/02/2018 18:53

If I have sex with my husband on a Sunday and then I transfer money from his bank account to mine on a Monday does that make me a prostitute or a escort??

SluttyButty · 19/02/2018 18:53

LBO I’m considering a cleaner Shock
mrsreynolds I had a surgeon ask me the same question and I got as far as emailing the OU about transferring my credits, not actually done anything about it any further Grin

mustbemad17 · 19/02/2018 18:53

I don't qualify for the free ones apparently, have a degree already that i'm wasting by sitting at home popping out kids i feel cheated

Battleax · 19/02/2018 18:54

A courtesan. Maybe even a muse. Standard sex workers don’t give credit.

Battleax · 19/02/2018 18:55

No she means the “open learn” short courses.

Battleax · 19/02/2018 18:56

Oooh battleax thank you, never heard of these.

Obviously won't be actually partaking of one but I can pretend I have intent 😆
