To reuse my wedding ring?!

Just that really. I had a really short lived marriage about 5 years ago. Still have the lovely platinum wedding band. I paid a lot of money for it at the time but when it came to sell, it only had scrap value of about £60 so I kept hold of it. No emotional attachment to it whatsoever.
I'm getting married again this year and have been looking at wedding bands. The OH doesn't want to wear a ring as he doesn't wear jewellery. So it's just for me. I'm looking at paying the same all over again for a ring that I already have in the drawer. WIBU to send it away to be polished and to reuse it? Part of me says absolutely not and the other part says it's just a piece of metal. So wise ladies of Mumsnet, what do you think? If it's of any relevance, we are over budget by about £2k at the moment so could do with cutting corners where we can.

Yes I have a lovely engagement ring. And I also think a wedding ring is important. It's just that it seems so silly to buy one just the same. I really like the idea of some diamonds to re invent it. When I say no emotional attachment or significance I mean in relation to my previous marriage. The consensus seems to be to do it but with some kind of change addition or engraving. It really is a practical thing. Once done (if I do it) it would be my wedding ring with all that it means. I think I'll look into the diamonds side of things. Thanks for everyone's comments. It has really helped.

My wedding ring was £60 so they don’t have to cost a lot?

I hardly wear it now as dh bought me a beautiful eternity ring and I wear that instead

What does your OH think of the idea?

I also think that the person you are now wouldn't be who they are without your past and reusing the ring is a kind of acknowledgement of that. I like the idea of adding to the ring...enhancing it.
